Chapter 229: Best actor in the world

Blake stepped out of his room, freshly showered and dressed, he made his way to the dining area where Elena was already seated. He noticed Drake, one of the aides, hurrying off to attend to some task, leaving them alone.

"Good morning, Elena," Blake greeted with a polite nod, masking any hint of suspicion or awareness.

"Good morning, Blake," Elena replied with a warm smile, gesturing for him to take a seat. "We're having pancakes for breakfast. I hope that's to your liking."

"Sounds delicious," Blake replied, taking a seat opposite Elena at the table. "And might I say, you look stunning today. That outfit suits you perfectly."

Elena's smile widened at the compliment, and she inclined her head graciously. "Thank you, Blake. That's very kind of you to say."

Elena sat gracefully at the dining table, clad in a provocative white lace gown that draped elegantly over her figure. The intricate lace hugged her curves with a sensual allure, accentuating every contour of her body. The gown's plunging neckline revealed a hint of décolletage, adding a touch of allure to her ensemble.

With each movement, the delicate fabric of the gown shimmered in the soft light, casting a mesmerizing glow around her. Her hair was swept up in an intricate updo, framing her face and drawing attention to her striking features. A subtle hint of makeup enhanced her natural beauty, giving her an air of sophistication and allure.

As Blake took his seat at the table, his eyes couldn't help but linger on Elena's captivating presence. The provocative elegance of her attire commanded attention, leaving him momentarily spellbound. It was no wonder he took notice of her as he settled in for their meal.

Or perhaps acting like he was entranced was what he wanted Elena to think. After all, the vampire had always thrown advances at him

As Elena's gaze lingered on him, Blake internally battled against the urge to recoil in disgust. Her predatory stare seemed to dissect him, probing for any vulnerabilities she could exploit. Yet, he remained steadfast in his resolve, determined to keep her deceived.

The old Blake, the one who wore his emotions on his sleeve, was a liability in this high-stakes game. He had learned the hard way that vulnerability only invited exploitation. Now, he donned a mask of charm and amiability, concealing the tumult of emotions churning beneath the surface.

Elena on the otherhand observed Blake throughout breakfast, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The man sitting across from her seemed different from the one who had stumbled out of bed just half an hour earlier. She attributed his sudden change in demeanor to the disorientation of waking up after a prolonged period of unconsciousness.

"He had to have still been groggy from his ordeal," she reasoned to herself, casting aside her suspicions for the time being. After all, it was in her best interest to believe that Blake was back to his usual clueless self.

Yet, despite her attempts to dismiss her concerns, Elena couldn't shake the nagging feeling that Blake was hiding something. There was a subtle shift in his demeanor, a guardedness in his gaze that hadn't been there before. It was as if he was concealing a secret beneath the facade of his charming smile.

Nevertheless, Elena acknowledged Blake's skill in deception. He was proving to be a formidable adversary, adept at masking his true intentions. She couldn't afford to underestimate him, especially now that he seemed to have regained some composure.

As Elena observed Blake from across the table, she couldn't help but admire the way he carried himself, despite his apparent memory loss. There was a resilience in him, a sense of independence that she found both intriguing and infuriating.

"He may not remember his past, but he's certainly not as clueless as he pretends to be," she mused to herself, noting the subtle hints of defiance in his demeanor. It was no news that he was hiding things from her, things about the villagers and the mysterious girl he had encountered in the forest. He wouldn't let her in on their routine meetings but that didn't matter to her.

Despite her irritation at his secrecy, Elena couldn't help but feel a surge of admiration for Blake's unwillingness to be controlled. It was a trait she had always valued in a man, even if it meant she had to exert more effort to assert her dominance.
