2 Chapter 2: To Dig the Kidney First or the Heart First

“Here, take this.” Suri Drew handed the marriage certificate to Yigol Novak.
Looking at the marriage certificate in his hand, Yigol had the illusion that he was dreaming.
“What’s wrong?” Suri noticed him zoning out and asked doubtfully.
“Di-did we really…” Yigol stammered, finding it hard to believe that this was reality. Had he just gotten married?
No, he had just taken a wife?
Just an hour ago, he was still single, and now he was married to a beautiful woman who was so pretty that he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
What kind of divine luck was this?
“Or would you rather we go get a divorce certificate?” Suri suggested.
At the sound of this, Yigol’s first reaction was to refuse. As unexpected as this wife was, he couldn’t bear to divorce her just after getting married.
Mainly, he couldn’t understand why Suri married him. He was just a poor young man with nothing to offer.
If there was anything valuable about him, it was probably his kidney and his beating heart.
But she didn’t need to marry him for that.
Yigol put away the marriage certificate and then looked at Suri seriously.
His heart fluttered just by looking at her face.
“I have many questions, but since we are now a couple, I will work hard, be ambitious, and strive to be worthy of you,” Yigol said seriously and earnestly.
Suri looked at him in surprise, then smiled and took his arm. “Let’s go, my young husband.”
“I’m not exactly young, you know.”
Suri chuckled: “I meant in terms of age.”
Yigol felt embarrassed.
As they left the Civil Affairs Bureau and headed to Suri’s car, a Range Rover suddenly sped up and stopped right in front of them.
The car window rolled down, and a heavily made-up woman sneered, “Oh, Suri Drew, it’s really you. Where did you find this gigolo?”
The woman looked at Yigol with utter disdain.
The man in the driver’s seat also glared at Yigol, his eyes filled with anger and jealousy.
He then looked at Suri, speaking gently, “Suri, it’s been a while since we last met. Where are you going? Let me give you a ride.”
“Bob Presley, Quinn Powell, so the two of you really did end up together? Congratulations!”
“Husband, these two were my college classmates, Bob Presley and Quinn Powell.”
“My husband, Yigol Novak.” Suri introduced them to each other.
“Suri, I remember you having high standards?”
“Your little husband here isn’t as good-looking as Bob, and he doesn’t seem to have much to him. Is he a delivery guy?” Quinn looked at Yigol’s uniform and mocked him.
“Buddy, you must be a real ace among deliverymen, to capture our Suri’s heart like that. You must be earning at least several million dollars a month, right?” Bob also taunted.
“I’m just a delivery guy.” Yigol replied.
He had been deeply shocked when he had found a stunning wife out of the blue, so nothing else could affect his emotions now.
“My husband is just being playful. As for how much he makes a month, we’re not sure, but it’s definitely a lot more than Bob. Bob’s family only has assets of tens of millions dollars, and for him to drive a Range Rover is quite a stretch,” Suri said, unabashedly hitting back.
Bob’s face immediately turned ugly.
Suri was simply too clever and never let anything compromise her judgment.
Quinn, not noticing Bob’s reaction, snorted back, “That’s all in the past, the Presley family now has assets exceeding one hundred million dollars. It’s just a little Range Rover, nothing compared to the luxury cars in his family’s garage.”
“What about you? Resorting to a poor delivery guy, can’t even afford your previous broken car?”
Without getting angry, Suri laughed and retorted, “Quinn, I’m not sure about Bob’s assets, but even if he does have that much money, what’s there to be proud of? My husband has a hundred million dollars in cash, not to mention other assets, probably around 1 billion dollars.”
“Also, where did you get the notion that Bob’s better looking than my husband? If your eyes are bad, go see a doctor soon – don’t let the condition worsen.”
Seeing Suri defend him like this, Yigol’s affection for her grew.
A good wife is one who can defend her husband’s dignity unconditionally.
Even if she was lying, it didn’t matter, as long as she was defending him.
But he was a man, and couldn’t let his woman always protect him. Yigol Novak wasn’t one to be easily bullied.
Quinn’s face was now at the height of ugliness.
She understood Suri’s meaning – even if Bob’s family did have money, it had nothing to do with Bob himself.
It wasn’t the same with Suri, whose husband was personally wealthy, not just from his family.
Though she didn’t believe Suri’s words, her pride had been damaged, as Suri had directly or indirectly criticized her judgment and Bob’s worth.
“Hey, old classmates, you can’t park here, only for five minutes at most.”
“You’ve already parked for six minutes. If a fine is sent to someone else, it won’t be easy to explain, right?” Yigol chuckled.
Bob glanced at his phone, and seeing that he had indeed exceeded the time limit, he drove off in anger, not even bothering to reply.
“Bob, what are you doing?” Quinn’s loud voice could be heard from their car.
“Haha, my young husband, you’re amazing! It seems that Bob is doing worse and worse, even leasing a Range Rover.” Suri laughed happily.
“Can you drop the ‘young’ part?”
“I think it’s nice. Don’t worry, I won’t call you that in public.”
“Fine then.”
After they got into Suri’s Lamborghini, Yigol closed his eyes to savor her presence in the car. “So, where are you taking me? To remove my kidney or my heart first?”
“To find your tricycle.”
“Oh, I almost forgot!” In their haste to get married, he had nearly forgotten his means of making a living.
They arrived at the bridge where they had first met, and Suri drove away.
He looked down at the marriage certificate in his hand, as well as the key and note that Suri had given him before she left, feeling as if he was sleepwalking.
“Detecting that the host is now alone, the reward will be given.”
“You are awarded 1 billion dollars in cash and assets.”
“The assets are comprised of rental properties, complete with all the necessary legal documents and memory inclusions for the management company.”
It took Yigol nearly ten minutes to figure out what was going on.
He was shocked and even somewhat at a loss.
This was the work of the System.
