Shou Cheng University.
Located in the capital city, with a long history of nearly 100 years and produced numerous famous scholars and great figures. Truly a first-class comprehensive university which countless students aspire to attend.
It was a calm and peaceful day as well in Shou Cheng University today, except for the slight activity in the forum, sizzling and boiling, just like a youtiao that was freshly submerged in oil on a busy morning.
Up to 11 o’clock sharp, when the East Campus Food Festival started.
Stepping into the east campus, acquiring a map leaflet from the mannequin, walking along the same route and one would find scattered stalls on both sides of the road the closer you get to the destination.
All the stalls had a uniformly issued paper signboard in front and written in green were the food sold, prices and a copy of their business licenses.
Yang Mo thought to himself that these stalls were most likely late in grabbing a good position or they aimed specifically at fools like Lu You Qi who are fascinated by everything they saw the moment they arrive here.
Although Yang Mo did not buy anything, Lu You Qi himself never let his hands rest at all. The two of them continued walking forward. As expected, the hustling and bustling coming from that direction surrounded the entire sports field, grass field and the tracks and it was filled with people’s voices.
The aroma that wafted over and the excited screams roused and tempted one’s curiosity and appetite.
There was also the fire ambulance’s car outside, showing fire prevention videos while carrying fire extinguishers – each stall had one equipped as well.
The school of management’s planning was very thorough.
Lu You Qi slightly regretted why he bought so much food before this.
Yang Mo was dragged to this festival by Lu You Qi. He didn’t quite like lively places so just being willing to accompany him here was a big compromise.
Yang Mo only bought a spicy chicken fillet and a cup of sour plum soup, making his way to the spectator seats and sat down on the topmost row to overlook the crowd. He let Lu You Qi go off alone to have his own fun.
He admired the state of the hundreds of stalls. Everyone seemed to be showing their skills in order to make their food stand out, pouring out every effort and adding a variety of names and historical stories or legends to their stalls.
Qian Long, the name of the poor old man was used all over. This stall bragged that the emperor had eaten their food on a private visit, another said the emperor ordered this must-have dish every time he visited Jiangnan.
Yang Mo thought bragging a little like this was fine, since it was all to hype up their food. They were all adults anyway, so a quick search online would give you an answer whether it was true or not.
But the chicken fillet he bought from McDonald’s stall also claimed that Emperor Qian Long once ate it, which was really overboard.
Fortunately, the school’s dean bought along teachers and students for a patrol. These people obediently put away these exaggerated stories and bragging and all the falsification was blown away.
Yang Mo sat there and continued to watch the fun going on.
Someone called out to him.
He turned around and saw it was Lin Chu.
Lin Chu was holding a small paper bag filled with grilled meat skewers and noodles. He sat down beside Yang Mo and handed it to him, “It’s from the barbeque store in front of the east campus. Try some?”
It was already shoved into Yang Mo’s hands, so he could only accept it and say thanks.
Yang Mo thought he preferred quiet places too, so he didn’t expect Lin Chu to come to this sort of lively event. He casually asked, “You came with someone?”
Lin Chu shook his head, “By myself.”
He continued, “I used to be a student at the east campus but I changed my major later on. A lot of my friends are here so I came to take a look.”
Yang Mo: “Oh.”
Lin Chu: “You came with someone else?”
Yang Mo glanced down and couldn’t find Lu You Qi anywhere, so he said, “No.”
The two of them sat side by side, bringing up up their mutual interest while they chatted. People who passed by to rest or eat had an amazed look as they watched these two seriously discussing programming codes at a food festival.
Lin Chu: “You’re really amazing.”
Yang Mo: “Thanks.”
Noticing that Lin Chu’s gaze kept looking out in a fixed direction, as if he was waiting for someone, Yang Mo suggested, “Wanna take a look around?”
Lin Chu: “Sure.”
The two of them had only walked down a few steps from the spectator seats when they suddenly heard some noises from afar. They glanced over and saw that people carried over some audio equipment and had started to do a sound check.
The performers said they were invited from the music academy elsewhere for assistance.
Lin Chu and Yang Mo walked away amidst the bursts of shouting, as if they had prepared their own barriers and the music couldn’t penetrate through their ears. Even the aroma or yells could not affect them.
Lin Chu glanced at the band in the center of the sports field. They were warming up with rock music.
He turned around, feeling amused as he said, “Didn’t the freshmen choose their F4?”
Yang Mo: “……”
Lin Chu: “I think I’m a little behind the trends.”
Yang Mo: “Don’t worry, this is non-mainstream.”
Lin Chu let out a laugh.
The two of them walked around for a bit. Lin Chu glanced at his watch and said, “I’m really happy I got to meet you here. But I have something else to do, so I’ll leave first.”
Yang Mo nodded in acknowledgement, waving goodbye as he watched his back grow further away.
He was just about to turn his head around when he saw a tall boy suddenly jump out from the side, causing Lin Chu to stagger a little. Yang Mo could hear an excited “Senior!” from all the way where he was standing.
Yang Mo blinked a few times.
Oddly, he remembered Han Shi Yu then.
Yang Mo waved the thought of this strange person out of his mind. Just as he was about to take a step forward, the stall owner beside him called out, “Hey, handsome!”
