"Mr. Samuel!" Jane looked at the mayor.
"Unfortunately, there is no room for new investors as we are not short of funds at all," she said.
"Uhmmm, yeah, that's my guess," Samuel said with a wry smile after hearing Jane's words.
He then turned his gaze to David.
"Son, you are the most extraordinary young man in our city. I'm sure even in the whole of Europe no one can achieve what you've accomplished," he told him, showing a friendly smile.
David didn't know the mayor's thoughts, but he seemed to support him.
Afterward, he even patted him on the shoulder.
"Keep up your courage, fight your enemies no matter how strong they are. If you have any business with the city government, you can contact me," he added, motivating David.
"Thank you, Mr. Samuel, I will naturally fight no matter how difficult the odds," David replied.
Since the man showed him hospitality, he naturally reciprocated in the same way.
Some people near them found this unexpected. They wondered if the mayor wasn't afraid of the Rothschild Family for siding with David.
"It seems that you guys want to eat, well, I'll go back to my table," Samuel continued.
After that, he finally went to meet his friends who were surprised by his actions.
Owen also chose to rejoin his friends.
He knew that David and Jane had a lot to talk about, his presence would practically only disturb them.
David and Jane sat at a table filled with candles.
As soon as they sat down, the servants came to prepare the food.
"Jane, does the mayor know anything?" asked David after the servants left.
"He knows because his family is also starting to develop spiritual powers, but there are probably only two or three people in his family who have those powers," Jane replied.
"That means he knows about the fact of your family, but he seems to support you. Isn't he afraid of your family?"
This was something David was curious about, just like everyone else although the things they were curious about were different.
"Maybe he heard some rumors about me," Jane replied.
"What rumors?" asked David since he didn't know anything about it.
"Rumors that I'm really scary," replied Jane.
David showed a strange look at that, and remembered how Oliver didn't dare to bother Jane any further.
"It seems that your strength is indeed far above average," he said.
"Enough talking about it, let's eat," Jane replied, picking up a fork and stabbing a piece of meat.
David chuckled before doing the same.
As he began to eat, he kept staring at Jane's face which was indeed too beautiful for tonight.
On the other hand, the guests started dancing, enjoying the party.
Although there were strange things at this party, Parisians were famous for their love of parties where they could forget about worldly affairs for a few hours.
Watching them enjoy the party was quite enjoyable for David, especially when he saw some beautiful rich women dancing, his heart beat a little.
"Who are you to Jane's uncle?" David asked her.
Nathalie was a little surprised to hear David suddenly speak. She looked at him doubtfully.
However, she obviously didn't dare to act as she pleased for fear of David embarrassing her as well.
Unexpectedly, Jane suddenly said before she answered, "She's just my uncle's concubine. Yeah, she's not welcome in our family and is afraid to fight despite the fact that she and my uncle have been lovers since young."
"Jane, you!" Nathalie instantly looked angry because of Jane's words.
"Get out of here now," Jane said in response.
This time, her tone was rather cold and her gaze at Nathalie was quite sharp.
The latter unconsciously swallowed her saliva.
When Jane was already staring at someone with sharp eyes, it seemed difficult for that person not to be intimidated.
Nathalie was silent for quite a while and finally stood up from her chair.
She then turned around and left, looking a little sullen.
"Is your uncle also an obstacle?" David asked Jane.
Her uncle was supposed to be her father's younger brother. In that family, he was practically the closest person to her besides her grandfather.
"My uncle is not so conservative," Jane replied in a calm tone. "I think he wanted to see you because he wanted to test you. However, that little concubine is indeed too proud, unaware of her own position. She in fact knows nothing about our family."
"Does that mean she also knows nothing about Spiritual Beings?"
"She doesn't know anything at all," Jane replied.
"A person who knows nothing." David shook his head.
Jane and Nathalie's brief debate did not disrupt the party. No one even realized that there was an argument between them.
After the food was finished, Jane occasionally glanced at her watch.
"Do you want to go now?" David asked her with a faint smile.
"What about you?" Jane asked back.
"I naturally prefer that we go now." David laughed. "It's just, where are we going to make love, at your house or at a hotel?"
David was very blatant when asking about that because for him there was nothing else they would do after they left other than making love.
Jane rolled her eyes. As a woman, even if she had spoken bluntly before, but she was still bothered when her man spoke more bluntly. After all, she used pronouns when talking about it, but David directly mentioned what it was.
"Honestly, Jane, even without the power of Zeus, I would be crazy to hold back my desire if I had such a beautiful girlfriend like you. Therefore, I want to do it with you as soon as possible," David added as Jane fell silent.
His hand touched her thigh that was exposed through the slit of her dress, and caressed it gently.
"Don't touch me here!" Jane seemed to be bothered by that. She pushed David's hand aside.
Perhaps she was embarrassed if anyone saw them.
After that, she actually stood up and said, "Let's go!"
David wanted to laugh when he saw her. He followed beside her while asking, "so, where is it?"
The woman hadn't answered his question yet, leaving him with no other choice but to ask again.
"In a hotel, my mansion is too noisy." And she finally said it.
