Chapter 759: Resurrecting from Death?

In the valley where the Golden Bowl evolved, black stones and white bones were piled up, and black flames surged into the sky.

Two figures stood there in midair.

“Lord Ghost King,” Meng Shuang looked down at the rampaging monsters, her expression extremely grim.

Numerous grotesque and hideous-looking flesh lumps opened their gaping maws, devouring one another. The white bones and bloody flesh then continuously fused together, evolving into even larger monsters.

Bone arms flailed about, flesh and blood spraying everywhere. On their massive faces, the seven orifices were bleeding.

They let out long howls that carried unparalleled destructive force and attacked the golden light barrier.

Clang!

The 卍 shaped golden light seal manifested, with chants of Sanskrit mantras resounding. Agonized screams immediately followed.

Sizzle sizzle!

Plumes of white smoke rose, and the monsters writhed in pain as they were suppressed once more.

The petite Ghost Lord knitted her brow, then turned her head to ask, “What’s the matter?”

“The dead souls are rioting in the Gates Of Hell across the Netherworld Realm. The death energy is in disarray, and abnormalities have appeared in many places.”

“At the Negate Bridge, the hordes of monsters pushed back and trapped outside the barrier are attacking with far greater ferocity than before,” Meng Shuang said with a worried expression.

“Where is Zhou Qi?”

“The Central Ghost Emperor has already led the ghost generals to guard the Negate Bridge.”

“I see.”

In the Netherworld Realm, at the Negate Bridge.

The black barrier was like a cascading waterfall descending from the nine heavens, dividing the vast expanse in two.

On the ancient long bridge, like a Great Wall, countless ghost generals stood at the ready, gazing into the world beyond the translucent black shroud.

Through the semi-transparent black shield, a terrifying sight could be seen.

As far as the eye could see, it was a dense mass of monster-like creatures, formed from piles of corpse-like chunks.

They had no fixed shape, as if assembled haphazardly.

Yet each monster emanated a formidable aura.

Eerie, unsettling laughter and piercing screams echoed, sending shivers down one’s spine just by hearing them.

“Their numbers have increased even further,” said a man clad in patterned martial armor, his expression stern and bearing divine aura. He was the Eastern Ghost Emperor, Shentu.

The other man, dressed in a scholarly black robe with a ghostly aura surrounding him, replied calmly, “Their numbers keep growing without end. This situation was within our expectations.”

This was the Western Ghost Emperor, Zhao Wenhao.

After a pause, Zhao Wenhao spoke again, “Your presence here suggests that the Gate of Hell in the Eastern Region has also seen abnormalities?”

“Yes,” Shentu nodded slightly and then turned his gaze forward.

Before them stood a figure, at the very forefront of the Negate Bridge.

His white hair cascaded down, and he wore a black cloak over his long white coat.

His aged face held a steady, insightful gaze that bespoke of extensive experience. Merely by standing there, he was the undisputed leader of the ghost generals.

He was the Central Ghost Emperor, Zhou Qi, who had been at the side of the Ghost Lord since the dawn of chaos and the birth of the Netherworld Realm.

“Old master, what shall we do now?” Zhao Wenhao asked softly.

“Confront the monsters when they come, and block the water with earth,” Zhou Qi said calmly. It took a thousand years to drive these monsters outside the Negate Bridge. How could he let them come back so easily?

Beyond the black barrier, a massive head composed of countless intertwined faces, with innumerable blood-red eyes, stared fixatedly at the people on the Negate Bridge.

The gaping maw opened and a piercing laughter echoing out. “Old geezer, the energies of life and death are in disarray, the Netherworld Realm will definitely be thrown into chaos. Do you still have time to linger here?!”

Zhou Qi did not respond, merely gazing coldly at the entity.

Whoosh!

With a mighty exhalation, a crimson gale as sharp as blades fell upon the barrier.

An ear-piercing metallic shriek resounded without end.

Crack!

Tiny fissures began appearing everywhere.

Seeing this, Shentu and Zhao Wenhao both furrowed their brows.

The ghost generals on the Negate Bridge were instantly struck with panic.

“How can you behave in such a panic?” Zhou Qi’s stern voice rang out, as a surge of ghostly energy erupted from his body.

The spiritual energy pulsed, shaking the heavens and earth, causing the endless Negate Bridge to tremble.

“Mm.”

At that moment, their swift horses seemed to sense something unusual and became agitated, stopping in their tracks, turning around, and stamping restlessly.

The four were on high alert, immediately releasing their spiritual pressure to assess the surroundings.

“There is a strange aura.” Gong Cang was the first to speak.

“It is not a beast. I unleashed my dragon might, but the other party remained unmoved,” Cang Feilan said.

The Dragon Clan’s Azure Dragon lineage was considered the apex among demonic beast bloodlines. Normally, unless a beast’s power greatly surpassed hers, it would retreat upon sensing the dragon aura.

Liu Jianli noticed something, and her beautiful eyes were fixed silently on the front.

The others also detected the source of the strange aura and focused their attention on the mountain path ahead, holding their breath.

Whoosh!

A series of wind-piercing sounds suddenly rang out, and over a dozen figures instantly blocked the mountain path.

Rather than appearing human, they more closely resembled wild beasts, hunched over and crawling on all fours.

Their bodies were not intact, bearing marks of tearing and mutilation. Some had lost their internal organs, while others had lost their heads.

For humans, these would be fatal injuries, yet they were still able to move!

This sight immediately reminded Qin Feng of the undead creatures he had encountered in Shuliang City – neither quite human nor quite ghost.

“Lord Gong, in your earlier letter, you mentioned that many abnormalities have been occurring in the Western Domain, where Demons and Ghosts have revived. Could it be that they have all evolved into these undead beings?” Qin Feng asked solemnly.

His words were met with a prolonged silence.

Qin Feng turned his head to see Gong Cang staring at a figure, his mouth agape, and his expression complex.

Following Gong Cang’s gaze, Qin Feng saw the figure of a middle-aged man dressed in battle gear with a sword scabbard hanging from his waist, but the sword itself was nowhere to be seen.

It was then that Qin Feng noticed a token next to the sheath – the Red Lotus Demon Slaying Token of the Demon Slaying Department, though it was stained with blood.

Considering Gong Cang’s earlier words, the identity of this person became clear, he was the Demon Slaying Department comrade who had passed away.

“Wu Xia,” Gong Cang murmured.

This was the name of the fallen demon slayer. Qin Feng let out a sigh.

Awooo!

A roar rang out, and led by the corpse of Wu Xia, a horde of undead beings rushed towards them.

Gong Cang was the first to be confronted, but he was still in a state of shock and did not respond immediately. Fortunately, Qin Feng promptly activated the Heavenly Mirror to fend off the attacks of the undead.

Liu Jianli and Cang Feilan had no such hesitation and quickly unleashed their techniques. In the blink of an eye, they had the undead in disarray.

Qin Feng reminded, “Lord Gong, he is already dead!”

These words snapped Gong Cang out of his daze.

He looked at the former friend who was now howling, closed his eyes briefly, and took a deep breath.

As the opponent attacked again, his waist-mounted sword and blade were simultaneously drawn, and with two slashes of sword and blade energy, the mountain path fell silent once more.

The engagement did not last long, as with Qin Feng’s group’s abilities, dealing with these undead posed no real challenge.

As they cleared the bodies, they discovered that most of the corpses were their former colleagues from the Demon Slaying Department.

Gong Cang and Qin Feng did not immediately depart, but instead found a nearby spot to dig a grave and bury them – an unwritten rule of the Demon Slaying Department, that when encountering the remains of fallen comrades on missions, one should retrieve their belongings and give them a proper burial.

During this time, Gong Cang also shared with Qin Feng the friendship he had with Wu Xia.

“In our free time, we would find opportunities to drink together and hone our swordsmanship. He had once said that his greatest wish was to become one of the Thirty-Six Stars, and then travel to the Southern Domain to learn from the Divine General Zhen Tianyi.”

Gong Cang sighed, “But life is fleeting, and I know not whether he sought me out after death to have one more drink with me, or to spar with me again.”

‘Seeking you out after death could mean he either owed you money or you stole his woman,’ Qin Feng joked inwardly and shook his head to dismiss these absurd thoughts.

He had initially thought these people were resurrected as undead. However, after examining them with his Dual Pupil Ability, the situation was entirely different from what he had witnessed in Shuliang City before.

What puzzled him even more was that these people were clearly dead, yet there was still a trace of vitality remaining within them!

‘Could this strange transformation be related to the arrival of that Ghost Buddha?’ Qin Feng couldn’t help but suspect.

The Vigor Qi swept across, covering the bodies with soil.

Liu Jianli swung her sword, and a tree that would have taken two people to embrace was instantly transformed into a gravestone and fell in front of everyone’s graves.

Just as Qin Feng’s group was about to leave, a hand suddenly emerged from one of the graves!

“How is this possible...”

The group was left in utter shock.

At that moment, a sound of something heavy being dragged along the ground came from the rear of the mountain path.

Following the sound, the first thing that came into view was a half-buried black coffin.
