Wen Rou stood behind Qin Yue and mumbled, “When I asked Sister Qingqing, she said that you were already aware of it, so I...”
Lu Lixing immediately said, “Hand over the room card.”
Wen Rou passed him the room card.
Lu Lixing walked briskly toward the 19th floor.
After swiping the card, he entered the room. The bed was a pile of messy sheets bundled together into a single mound. It was not possible to see where it started or ended. To the side of the bed, there was some medicine and a glass of water that had long cooled.
Lu Lixing stood at the bedside, he pulled open the tightly wrapped sheets to reveal Jin Qingqing’s head.
“Ji Qingqing, wake up.”
Ji Qingqing breathed heavily, not showing any sign of waking.
Lu Lixing looked at her flushed face. Droplets of sweat had formed on her forehead. Placing his hand on her forehead, his brow knitted when he felt the burning temperature coming from it.
Then, Qin Yue and Wen Rou entered the room.
Lu Lixing glanced at them. “Is there a hospital nearby?”
“Yes, there’s one”
“Go start the car.”
Qin Yue nodded and headed downstairs to prepare the car.
Lu Lixing pulled Ji Qingqing out from the sheets that she had bundled herself in, her pyjamas were practically soaked, but the temperature of her body was burning hot.
He instructed Wen Rou to get Ji Qingqing’s coat from upstairs. After helping her put it on, he lifted her up by the waist and headed outside.
“I heard that a high fever can cause brain damage...”
Qin Yue chided, “Don’t overthink, it’s not serious.”
Lu Lixing gazed grimly in the direction of the emergency room. His hands that were already clasped subconsciously tightened.
It’s just a normal cold. Lu Lixing thought to himself.
10 minutes later, the door opened.
The doctor stepped out of the emergency room and removed his mask.
“Doctor, how did it go?”
“It’s not serious, she just has a fever at 39°C. The suggested treatment here would be an injection and the fever will most likely subside later. After sleeping, it will probably be gone tomorrow, so there’s no need for you all to worry.”
“She doesn’t need an infusion?”
“She doesn’t.”
“Thank you doctor.”
The three of them heaved a sigh of relief.
Lu Lixing wordlessly entered the emergency room. He stroked her forehead. It was still burning hot.
Then, they waited outside the emergency room for a while. Half an hour later, a nurse came and took her temperature. “Her fever has started to subside. Since her condition is stable, you all can bring her back.”
Lu Lixing lifted her, “Head back to the hotel.”
