Not understanding the implied meaning, Ji Qingqing thanked her casually.
Being co-actors, Qi Jingyun came over and sat by her side to express her concern. “I heard from Director Zhou that you were sick yesterday. Why didn’t you rest some more at the hotel? You even came for filming today?”
“I’m alright.” Ji Qingqing smiled. “It was just a fever and I recovered yesterday. It’s just a minor illness. It won’t get in my way. I can’t let the filming progress be delayed just because of me, right?
“Your voice...”
Thinking of last night, shame and anger surged inside of Ji Qingqing and the tip of her ears quickly reddened unconsciously. “That’s just an after-effect,” she explained while pretending that nothing had happened.
Looking at her red ears and the lack of vitality on her face, Qi Jingyun was about to comfort her some more. Her eyes shifted down and she noticed the faint red marks between Ji Qingqing’s neck and collarbone.
Although it was mostly covered by foundation, Qi Jingyun was able to tell what it was with just a glance.
No wonder Lu Lixing called Director Zhou in the morning to request leave for Ji Qingqing. So that was why.
Ji Qingqing let out a sigh.
“Alright, I won’t take up your time to study the script. You have an important scene later so feel free to ask me if you are unsure of anything.”
“Thank you, Sister Jingyun.”
Fortunately, the scene that she had to film today did not have many lines so the discomfort in her throat won’t be a problem. Instead, the emphasis was on the inner feelings of the character and the devastation felt after being betrayed. Overemphasis would make it look too fake, while down playing it would make it look expressionless. Capturing the exact expression wasn’t an easy task.
After Director Zhou was done with what he was doing, he went over to discuss the scene with her. Aware of the importance of the upcoming scene, he was rather worried if Ji Qingqing would be able to film it the way he wanted. However, thinking of the rain scene that they filmed the other night, his worry was slightly eased.
“Qingqing ah, don’t be anxious for this scene. Try to put yourself in the second female lead’s perspective and imagine how you would feel if you were abandoned by someone you trust... If you still can’t grasp it, think back to how you felt when you broke up with your ex and find that emotion,” Director Zhou said after some contemplation.
Ji Qingqing actually had never experienced being abandoned, but she could pretty much understand the emotion when she tried to think about it from the second female lead’s perspective, so she nodded and said, “I’ll try.”
Just as she finished her words, Director Zhou’s gaze landed on her neck. “Where is the makeup artist?!” he shouted loudly as he caught a glimpse of redness.
