Chapter 129 Fighting Ruben Astor

Rio hugged the magenta-haired girl carefully and rested by the trunk of the tree as he sat at its root.

"Ah...That was close..." He sighed.

Rio gazed at Nyla's unconscious face and continued in a worried tone, "I need to mend her wounds before bringing her to the nearby shelter."

There were wounds on her shoulder and head, the bleeding had stopped fortunately stopped.

Rio also checked his injury at the shoulder and discovered that they were healing slowly with the help of [Life Sutra].

He realized his AI watch was broken in the fight with the giant shadow viper fox.

After resting for some time and recovering his mana, the boy took Nyla in a bridal carry, supporting her head on his chest, and went to look into the big crater where the giant shadow viper fox had died.

The lord beast's body was charred from his ultimate attack and buzzed with thunder. A cloud of black smoke was spreading in the surroundings, filling the air with burned flesh and fur of the Giant shadow viper fox.

His eyes fell on two spherical objects of palm size that glittered in purple and obsidian near the lord beast's corpse.

As Rio was about to jump in, a voice resounded in his mind, making him halt his advance, "Do you want me to carry them for you, Partner?"

"Can you also do these things?" He asked with a tired voice, his tone had a hint of surprise.

"As per our partnership terms, I shouldn't help you unless you give me twenty purple cores but I'll take a step back since you are in bad condition right now.

You know how much I love you, Partner. I'll give them back to you when you want them." Eve said in an adorable way in his mind before the mystic egg and giant shadow viper fox core disappeared from below the big crater.

Rio sighed and turned around to leave the battleground that was destroyed by his ultimate attack earlier.

It was afternoon and the forest was drowned in silence which was also the result of his [Heaven's Destroyer] battle technique art attack as the big explosion chased away all the beasts nearby.

'This place would be better to spend the night and mend her wounds.'

Rio placed the Magenta-haired beauty inside the hot spring cave and went outside to get some firewood, as it was getting cold inside.

As he was walking in the dense forest, The boy heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

From four directions five figures came out to encircle him.

They had a weapon beast soul summoned on their hand and their face was plastered with annoyance and arrogance.

"We finally found our target," one of the blonde-haired men shouted, who looked to be their boss as his voice was dripping with malice.

Rio didn't recognize anyone among them as he prepared himself to fight them.

But before that, he used his [Heaven's Eyes] on them to study his enemies.

The crimson-haired boy inspected them one by one as they were all in primary black stage warriors, their physical power totaling around 110 to 120 but the only one that caught his attention was a blonde-haired man who was their leader.

He had shoulder-length blonde hair with a triangular-shaped jaw and looked to be in his early twenties.

"It's Nyla's fiance" Rio mumbled inwardly in surprise.

He counted his pro and cons and realized this would be a disadvantageous fight for him but Rio also knew they weren't at the same level as the giant shadow viper fox.

However there were two problems at hand, first was that he needed to destroy their AI watch so he could use his elemental affinity power without hiding, and second was that Rio had recently fought a hard battle and wasn't in his peak condition.

The leaves rustled softly in the gentle breeze, the only sound in the tense silence that stretched between the two opposing parties.

Rio could feel the anger and hatred emanating from Ruben, who stood at the front of the group.

"What do you guys need," Rio asked in a cold voice, he wasn't overwhelmed seeing the greater number as [Heart Sutra] helped him to keep his calmness.

"Bastard...how did you dare to be around my fiance. How can you flirt with my fiance..." Ruben cursed at him, his eyes told he wanted to cut the crimson-haired boy alive.

The blonde-haired man was mad at him because there was a rumor of him being Nyla's childhood lover. The matter was further worsened by Talia's involvement.

"What do you mean?" Rio scrunched his eyebrows, hearing such blames. He had no idea what Ruben was saying.

"Now you're pretending to know nothing when you're surrounded. It's over, I'm going to kill you. Everyone, attack." The blonde-haired man yelled in rage and ordered his men to charge.

Rio didn't understand his reasoning but he still braced himself as he realized sometimes violence was the only way.

He summoned his purple stage Silver-Bloom king sword and armor beast soul given by Nyla as a protective layer spread around his skin and enveloped him.

"Even if I'm in not in my peak condition I can not give up." He mumbled inwardly as an unwavering resolve flickered in his eyes and tightened his grip on the hilt of his silver-bloom king sword, ready to fight to the death if the situation demanded.

The boy had faced impossible odds before against the giant shadow viper fox and come out alive. He wasn't going to back down without giving his all.

The four men lunged at him at once, the sharpness of their blades gleamed in the sunlight.

*Clank!*

Their sword clashed with Rio's silver bloom king sword one after another as he used his mana enchantment to strike them one by one.

Except for Ruben who watched from behind all their physical power was almost at a similar level as Rio's.

Their beast souls were normal black stage tier while the crimson-haired boy had king tier purple stage sword which didn't lose in strength after he enchanted them with mana.

Rio moved with grace and agility, parrying their attack one after another, the clanking sound of metal resounding in the air.

The boy was reminded of Helia who never went easy on him in their training.

'Thank you, lioness.'

He expressed gratitude towards her in his heart as her harsh training helped him to take four at once.

But the boy was exhausted from his battle with the shadow viper fox, and he knew he wouldn't be able to last much longer.

'I need to take the bet and use it.'

Rio's figure disappeared from his enemy's sight as he appeared 20 meters away.

The other four men felt perplexed as their target vanished right in front of their eyes.

Rio recalled his silver-bloom king sword and summoned five normal-tier Shadow Viper Shuriken that he got while fighting the purple stage beast with his teammates.

He hurled them at his targets one by one after enchanting them with Thunder.

One after another five Shuriken revolved in the air with incredible speed as they went towards his target.

It vanished in mid-air and appeared right near their AI watch, shattering it in pieces.

"What's happening???"

"How did our AI watch break?"

"It's that boy doing."

"Let's kill this, Bastard."

Even Ruben who had the highest physical point of 130, didn't able to escape the Shadow Viper Shuriken as Rio's space elemental attack helped it to appear right in front of his AI watch.

"Ahh...damn you" The blonde-haired man gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes at Rio as he saw the table turning against him.

Soon, a boy in buzzing thunder ran towards four men and strike them with powerful attacks.

The battle changed into a one-way beating as Rio overwhelmed them with his speed and thunder elemental power.

*Slash!* *Slash!*

Two of the head rolled on the ground as Rio changed the route of the fight.

"How can he use a battle technique art at the purple stage...Has Talia misinformed me...ah...That bitch..." Ruben who was watching from distance cursed Nyla's step-sister before summoning a beast soul that glowed in orange.

*Slash!* *Slash!*

Another two heads fell down on the ground like a ragdoll as Rio killed all four men easily.

He turned around to face the blonde-haired man.

"This is over... I thought I wouldn't need this beast soul for you but you seem to be stronger than how that bitch said. With this, you cannot escape death even if you are a cockroach.

It's the one-time usable projectile beast soul that doesn't stop unless it takes away life. Let's see if you Bastard can handle this." Saying that he threw the dagger that shone orange toward Rio.

The crimson-haired boy felt binding on his body as he was stuck in the same place...

"Ah...Not good...this beast soul has confined me in place" Rio complained inwardly as the glowing orange dagger hurled towards him like a death kiss, causing a heavy pressure in the air.

Right when the blade was about to hit Rio, a shadow suddenly appeared in front of him.

With a flesh-tearing sound, it pierced her stomach, and blood splattered on Rio's face.

"Ammmhhh!!" A loud cry escaped her lips as Nyla swayed in the air to fall to the ground.

I really liked her character though as She was one of the best Yandere in my opinion.
