“No? Are you still acting?!”
Zi Yuan couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Qin Feng. He displayed a shameless character at such a young age.
“You just don’t understand,” Qin Feng retorted, having absolute confidence in himself. He believed that the main quests for a protagonist would only bring in more risks as more people got involved. Only a small number of people would successfully escape, a tactic that was used to exaggerate the mightiness of the protagonist.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Sounds of combat rang out in the vicinity. It was obvious that these people were locked in a fierce battle over treasures.
As this remnant was sealed away for a long time, many treasures of the heavens and earth were grown within this small world. Even upon entering the forest, Qin Feng and Zi Yuan had already stumbled upon a few such items. However, they were all ordinary items that weren’t worthy of being fought over.
“Should we go check it out?”
Qin Feng asked carefully, receiving an enthusiastic nod from Zi Yuan.
In order to ensure that he wouldn’t be recognised, Qin Feng smeared dirt and dust on his body and face, his current appearance resembling a shoddy, dishevelled child who bore no resemblance to a young master from an influential clan.
Quickly—
Silently, the two stealthily approached the fight, watching as a few men were engaged in combat, their eyes bloodshot, while surrounded by dozens of corpses that were scattered on the blood-drenched ground.
Not far from the scene, a vine with small fruits hanging from it caught their attention—the fruits were even occasionally glowing.
“It's the Bloody Bodhi!”
Zi Yuan almost shouted in her excitement, only barely containing her emotions by pinching Qin Feng’s arm.
In actuality, her excitement couldn’t be faulted, for the Bloody Bodhi was an exceedingly rare treasure deserving of such fervor.
The treasures of heavens and earth were categorised by Sky, Earth, Black, and Yellow, with the Sky being the highest great. The Bloody Bodhi belonged to the Sky grade, considered rare even amongst that grade.
This extraordinary fruit possessed not only healing properties but also had the ability to increase the user’s strength by solidifying their foundation. However, the most mystical property of the Bloody Bodhi was its unlimited usability. Its efficacy wouldn’t decrease significantly even after a single use, making it a treasure that existed in the dreams of any cultivator.
But once the Bloody Bodhi fruits were harvested, their vines would wither away very quickly, making it impossible for anyone to transport or cultivate the plant. Only the luckiest of people could find such a treasure, further contributing to the reason behind its rarity.
“How infuriating!”
Qin Feng stared at his arm, which was reddened due to Zi Yuan’s pinching. He expressed that although he never held grudges, retaliation on the spot would be his usual response.
“Ouch, ouch, be gentle, be gentle!” Even before Zi Yuan could react, her thigh was already pinched by Qin Feng.
As there were people fighting in front of them, she could only try her best to suppress her voice as she looked at Qin Feng pitifully, trying to express her acknowledgement of her mistake and that she wouldn’t dare to pinch him again in the future.
“I’ll let you off the hook for now,” Qin Feng declared, releasing his grip. He couldn’t help but marvel at how soft her thigh was.
‘Cough, cough, this wasn’t the time to be distracted!’
The individuals involved in the fight were extremely strong. There were cultivators of the Spiritual Martial realm and Dao cultivators. Despite Qin Feng’s breakthrough to the Third layer of the Phenomenal realm and the utilisation of both of his trump cards, the Sovereign Bone and the Undefeatable Dense Pupils, he would still be no match for them.
The only exception would be if he used the Max-Levelled Red-Haired Old Monster Experience Coupon, but such a move seemed excessively unnecessary, akin to using a beef chopper to kill a chicken.
“What a stupid little brother.” Mumbling pitifully, Zi Yuan was on the brink of tearing up.
But in the next second, she immediately forgot her pain.
Qin Feng’s eyes were focused on the Bloody Bodhi in front of them, and she watched as he reached his hand out and seemingly grabbed at the air, then a Bloody Bodhi actually appeared in his hand.
“How did you do that?!” Zi Yuan rubbed her eyes, trying to confirm what she had just witnessed. Her large sparkling eyes were filled with stares as she stared at Qin Feng.
“It’s a secret!”
With no intention of explaining himself, Qin Feng started to grab as many Bloody Bodhis as he could once he confirmed that his personal inventory was working. The originally filled vines with Bloody Bodhi fruits were visibly decreasing at a rapid pace.
But somehow, Zi Yuan couldn’t shake off a feeling that something was off. She thought that the action he was performing seemed strangely familiar.
As if she had thought of something, her face instantly turned red. This sight was similar to the night that her inner wear had mysteriously disappeared.
That meant that the culprit wasn’t Lin San but the bratty Qin Feng.
She had underestimated him, considering him nothing but a naive child. Yet, it was clear now that he possessed far more knowledge than she had assumed.
“What a perverted little brother. No wonder my auntie always told me that all men were trash!”
Coughing awkwardly, her face still flushed, Zi Yuan suddenly recalled the next line her auntie said, something like, “But men had one good thing.” She was not entirely sure what her aunt meant by that.
“What did you say?” Qin Feng turned his head and asked.
“Nothing!”
With her face flushed, Zi Yuan changed the topic, “Will it be fine to take so much?”
“Don’t be too merciful!”
Qin Feng had no intention of letting this opportunity slip through his fingers, and he didn’t intend to leave even one fruit for anyone else.
“Wait a minute, stop fighting!!”
The cultivators that were locked in battle quickly realised that something was amiss. The once bountiful vines now only held a few remaining Bloody Bodhis, and it didn’t appear as though the fruits were going to stop disappearing.
And they watched as the fruits disappeared one by one, and by the time the last one disappeared, the vine withered away.
“Who? Who did this?!”
Every single person present seethed with anger, the little universes within them imploding.
They had fought for so long and sacrificed so many of their brothers for nothing, not even a single Bloody Bodhi.
Who could take this lying down?!
“Who are you two?!”
The group quickly noticed Qin Feng and Zi Yuan, who were preparing to make their escape, and immediately charged over to surround the two of them.
“So it was you two Phenomenal realm brats!”
Their gazes were filled with disappointment. They found it hard to believe that these two Phenomenal realm cultivators could steal every single Bloody Bodhi from right under their noses.
“Wait!”
One of them looked at Qin Feng with furrowed brows, a flicker of recognition crossing his face. He felt that Qin Feng looked familiar for some reason.
“What are you looking at? Do you even know who my big brother is?”
Completely unfazed, Qin Feng spoke proudly, “I’ll have you trembling in fear just by telling you that my big brother is the mighty, renowned Sky Sword God’s successor, Lin San. He is my blood-related brother, born of a different father and mother.”
“Lin San!!” The cultivators exclaimed. They were obviously aware of Lin San’s name.
He was slated to become the number one swordsman in a hundred years, the successor of the Sky Sword God, who had recently engaged in a spar with the Qin family’s eldest young master, Qin Feng.
However, this greatly renowned youngster was a popular prodigy that would play a vital role in the impending conflict that loomed over the world, with the backing of the influential Heaven Heart City.
They couldn’t risk offending him!
“A blood-related brother of a different father and mother?!”
Zi Yuan couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes, amazed at how Qin Feng was truly good at bullshitting.
Qin Feng, seeing that the situation became momentarily stunned, continued to fan the flames, “I’m not afraid to tell you that my big brother was the one who opened this remnant three days ago, and he deliberately left the Bloody Bodhi fruits behind. If you all plan on offending me, just imagine the consequences that await you!”
The crowd couldn’t help but glance at each other. They unanimously chose to ignore the last sentence.
They knew that Lin San was indeed the person that had opened the remnant, as they had obtained information about it from the Fierce Tiger Gang. This basically confirmed that Qin Feng was speaking the truth.
However, if they interpret his words another way—it could only mean that Lin San had found some kind of peerless treasure in the remnant that made the Bloody Bodhi pale in comparison.
Huala!
In an instant, the crowd dispersed, each going off to look for Lin San in the remnant……
