The staff nodded, pointed to the blackboard beside her, and said, "This is the list of items you can exchange for. Please take a look."

Yao Ran looked at the blackboard and saw they were also offering cold-resistant tomatoes, cucumbers, and even carrots. She could exchange two kilograms of food for one kilogram of these cold-resistant plants or four kilograms for two hundred milliliters of the nutrient solution.

The prices were high, but Yao Ran had plenty of food in her space. She was curious about the cold-resistant plants and the nutrient solution, so she decided to make an exchange.

Turning to the staff, she said, "Please give me one kilogram each of tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. I will also take one bottle of the nutrient solution."

The staff nodded and began to write down her name and ID number while saying, "You will need to hand over ten kilograms of food in exchange."

After placing them in her backpack, Yao Ran moved to the side to wait for Long Yu and the others. As she waited, someone approached her and asked, "Young lady, do you remember me?"

Yao Ran turned and recognized the soldier she had met previously at the neighborhood committee center.

She nodded and smiled, "Yes. It's a surprise to see you again today."

The soldier smiled, "Yes."

Noticing he seemed to have something to say, Yao Ran asked, "Do you have something to tell me?"

The soldier nodded and replied, "I gave the liquid fertilizer you gave me to my supervisor, and they said they'd like to meet you. Do you have time, young lady?"

Yao Ran and Long Yu followed the soldier into an apartment building. As they climbed the stairs, they encountered many people who looked at them curiously.

While Yao Ran was still observing her surroundings, the soldier stopped in front of an apartment. She noticed a small sign hanging on the door.

Wu Lian looked up from his document and saw a woman and a man dressed in Arctic clothing walking in. He put down the document and said to the soldier, "Thank you. You may return to

your post."

"Yes, Sir."

After the soldier closed the door, Wu Lian stood up and said, "Please, have a seat."

While Yao Ran and Long Yu sat on the sofa, Wu Lian poured three cups of hot water. Placing the cups in front of them, he smiled and said, "Thank you for accepting my invitation." The room was warm, so Yao Ran and Long Yu took off their masks. When Wu Lian saw Long Yu's face, he was surprised and looked at him and Yao Ran curiously.

Long Yu looked at Wu Lian and said, "Long time no see, Captain Wu."

Seeing that her boyfriend knew Wu Lian, Yao Ran whispered, "You two know each other?"

Long Yu nodded and replied, "Yes. We both serve at the First Military Camp in Juncheng Military Base."

"Oh..." Yao Ran nodded and looked at Wu Lian curiously.

Wu Lian observed the two of them and sensed from their interactions that they must have a close relationship.
