Chapter 244: Li Tianyu’s Advise
Long Yu thought for a moment and said, "Captain Li, I thought you had quit smoking. Didn't your commander want you to quit so you could live longer?"
Li Tianyu sighed and shrugged, "I have tried, but with the stress of our missions, I have been craving them more these days."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Seeing his pitiful expression, Long Yu said, "Wait here for a moment."
After saying that, Long Yu walked back to the truck, knocking on the passenger-side window to get Yao Ran's attention. When she lowered the window, he asked, "Ran Ran, do you have any cigarettes?"
She looked at him and asked, "How many do you need?"
Long Yu glanced at Li Tianyu and answered, "Just a few pieces are enough."
Yao Ran looked at Li Tianyu for a moment, then nodded at Long Yu. She then took out a pack of cigarettes she had found in the wealthy CEO's office. She didn't know the exact cost, but given how wealthy that CEO was, the cigarettes were probably quite expensive.
Handing him the cigarettes, she said, "I still have plenty in my warehouse if you need more."
Long Yu thanked her, then walked back to Li Tianyu, whose eyes lit up at the sight of the cigarettes in Long Yu's hand.
"How much supplied do you want for this pack?" Li Tianyu asked eagerly.
Long Yu tossed him the cigarettes and said, "Just take it."
Grinning, Li Tianyu thanked him and opened the cigarettes, inhaling the scent before slipping it into his pocket.
"Are you heading to the Juncheng military base?" He asked.
"I will, but not now." Long Yu replied.
Li Tianyu was silent for a moment and said, "You might want to wait until the first phase of construction is complete."
Hearing what he said, the soldier silently glanced at the muddy lake water with worry in his eyes.
After leaving Hubin Lake, Long Yu and Yao Ran made their way back to Juncheng City. With the road cleared of debris and abandoned vehicles, Long Yu drove fast and reached the Ling Yuan apartment complex in just three hours.
When they arrived, the air shimmered with heat, creating mirages. To avoid the scorching sunlight, Long Yu drove directly to the underground parking lot, though he didn't really want to park there. Despite the building's stability, he was worried about the risk of a collapse.
After they emerged from the truck, Yao Ran climbed into the back and filled the water containers.
Half an hour later, the building manager and other survivors arrived after hearing that Yao Ran had come back.
By the time they walked into the underground parking lot, Yao Ran had nearly finished filling all the water containers and decided not to fill the remaining empty containers when she saw the survivors coming.
When the building manager saw Yao Ran step down from the truck's compartment, he anxiously asked, "Miss, why are you back so soon? Did you get the water?"
Yao Ran nodded, "Yes. Give me a moment to grab the notebook."
Without waiting for his response, she opened the passenger door, retrieved her backpack, and
took out a notebook and pen.
Walking back while opening the notebook, Yao Ran asked, "Did you all bring your water containers?"
The building manager nodded quickly and replied, "Yes. We bring them with us."
"Good. I will call out names to distribute the water. When you get your share, please sign next
to your name before leaving. I don't want anyone coming back later, claiming they didn't get
their water." Yao Ran explained calmly.
Everyone nodded in agreement after listening to her explanation.
Looking at the names in the notebook, Yao Ran calmly said, "Building manager, you will receive ten liters of water."
