Chapter 271: Woke Up
Grabbing her hair in despair, the woman muttered, "I should have listened to Captain and never told anyone about my ability."
Thinking about what might happen to her, her eyes reddened, and tears rolled down her cheeks.
She anxiously glanced at the soldiers standing outside and muttered in a panic, "What should I do? What should I do?! I have to escape. I don't want to die!"
As the woman frantically searched for a way out, one of the soldiers approached her. Realizing there was no other option, she gritted her teeth, and her eyes flickered with determination.
The soldier stopped a few steps away from her and said politely, "Miss, please come with me so you can clean up."
The woman glared at him briefly before forcing her exhausted body to stand, using the wall for support.
When the soldier saw her stand up, he stepped aside and said, "After you, Miss."
Trying to appear as calm as possible, the woman walked past the soldier and exited the dark room. She noticed that only one other soldier was guarding the door, and her eyes lit up. It's now or never!
As she left the darkroom area, she suddenly shoved the soldier and ran as fast as she could. As an ability user, her strength exceeded that of ordinary people. The soldier fell to the ground, stunned by the unexpected attack.
A few seconds later, he regained his senses and shouted, "Brothers, catch her!"
The other soldiers saw her run and assumed she was a runaway prisoner. Without hesitation, they chased after her and quickly caught up.
"Let me go! This is illegal!" She shouted.
The soldier she had shoved just now rubbed his aching back and explained, "Miss, we only wanted to let you clean up. Why are you acting like we are going to kill you?"
Noticing the change in his face, Yao Ran stood up and allowed Grandma Quan to sit down in the chair. Grandma Quan placed the tray on the bedside table and smiled warmly at the boy.
"Child, you must be hungry. Grandma brought you some porridge and milk. Can you eat by yourself?"
The boy tried to move his arms but winced in pain. Seeing this, Grandma Quan's heart ached for him. She scooped a spoonful of porridge, blew on it to cool it down, and brought it to his lips.
"Here, let Grandma help you." Grandma Quan said gently.
The boy stared at her for a moment before lowering his head and obediently drinking the porridge.
Yao Ran and Long Yu stood quietly, watching as Grandma Quan patiently fed the boy. When he finished the porridge and milk, Grandma Quan took the empty dishes and left the room.
As soon as she was gone, the boy's expression changed. His eyes turned cold, and he looked at Yao Ran and Long Yu with suspicion and vigilance.
Yao Ran observed him for a moment before saying, "If you want to save your siblings, you need to tell us what happened ten days ago."
Hearing this, the boy's eyes lit up. Despite his caution, he was only a five-year-old little boy. The hope of saving his siblings was enough for him to let down his guard toward Yao Ran and
Long Yu.
"A group of people in black clothes came to our home and dragged my eldest brother away." He began.
"When we tried to stop them, they started hitting my siblings and me. My eldest brother got angry when they hurt us, and he burned them."
The boy paused, his voice trembling as he continued, "They seemed to know that my eldest brother could shoot fire from his palm. I heard one of them say they needed to take him alive and couldn't kill him."
Recalling the incident, the boy's eyes reddened. Just as his tears began to fall, he quickly wiped them with the thin blanket.
