Somewhere within the City of Dawn, the culprit of the psychic infection walked through the hallway shrouded with a tense atmosphere. A beautiful beastfolk fox found herself surrounded by a sizeable security personnel made from the best of the best, though her safety never seemed to be certain.
Her name was Viagra, the Priestess of Psycho. A religion order from the Frontier, although from a forgotten faith consumed by the annals of time. Since arriving in the City of Dawn, she had lived through her dreams of authority and wealth.
It was as though the world within the metropolis was made for her.
However, it all changed when the slums was purged and relocated into various districts of the city. From the actions of the United World Government, she had finally understood that her existence wasn't that secretive anymore. The country was realizing that there was something amiss.
Viagra had followed through the orders of the three deities, investigating the identity of the Dragon of Liberation. Although since her arrival, the Dragon of Liberation seemed to have disappeared from the public, making it difficult to investigate more about the dragon's identity.
With this in mind, she changed her focused into something other than investigation. Instead, it would be better if she used her abilities to build power for herself in this new country. A nation ignorant of magicraft, what better target could there be?
She wouldn't have to worry about the Revolting Tide, the Magus Tower, or the Inquisition of Humanity. She was practically free to do her bidding.
But as said before, nothing would ever last forever. No matter how much she desired to keep her current life afloat. There was a conclusion to everything. And the ending of hers was creeping up to her doorstep.
"Damn it!" Entering her room while her guards remained outside, Viagra cursed while gritting her teeth in annoyance. The martial law that was declared recently had made it near impossible for her to leave the City of Dawn. She was practically stuck here like a lamb awaiting for slaughter.
"How are they so ruthless and determined? They remind me of the Inquisition!" She muttered to herself while laying on the comfortable sofa. Memories of her past echoed within her mind, remembering her life before joining the Revolting Tide.
Viagra resided in the border sea regions of the Frontier where armies of both inside and outside clashed into one another. The Inquisition was a primarily antagonist during that time as they would hunt and destroy villages that dared to resist the authority of humanity.
The Order of Psycho was a native religion to her species. It was the culture of their tribe, especially with their special talents in controlling the mind of others through magicraft. It had made them dominant in the region despite lifting no fingers, but it was for this reason they were massacred.
When the moment their psyche spells had no effects against the templars of humanity. They became helpless insects that could only be stomped upon by the Inquisition. They were too weak, and there was nothing they could do about it.
They often relied too much in their gifts, forgetting that without it, they were but weak creatures.
The platoon leader ordered as many more men entered the room and searched through the documents scattered all about. While the woman was an important target, the intelligence that she may have in her possession might be useful in later endeavors.
Gathering as much documents as possible, the Cerberus took as many files as they could, ransacking the whole place like daylight robbers. The security personnel outside had already begun kicking the doors, but a runic spell laid on it, assuring that no one could get in for a couple of minutes.
Their efforts were of no use.
It didn't take long to complete their intelligence gathering as the platoon leader ordered to have ropes be thrown off from the broken windows. The following part after the capture of the target was to leave the area through an armored convoy.
The reason for this was that Ospreys were too massive to be applicable in the area they were operating in. As such, their exfil was a kilometer away from their current location.
When the ropes fell into the ground floor, the Cerberus soldiers quickly made their descend as they landed into the ground with remarkable ease. One of them carried the target in their shoulders as a group of Humvees awaited for them on the ground.
The platoon leader got into the leading Humvee and ordered the driver. "Alright, we got the target. Let's leave the area immediately. I don't want more attention to be pointed at us." Hearing his orders, the driver nodded and pushed the accelerator.
The armored convoy of Humvees made their way into the district as an empty road filled to the brim with silence awaited them. The martial law declared by the United World Government had been largely effective in ensuring that the population maintained its state.
Though, kidnapping the target wasn't bound to be easy. Several vehicles emerged out of nowhere, each transporting a group of beastfolks under the target's authority. Most of them came from the Special Response Division, ensnared by the woman's vision of the future.
"Sir, should we take them out?" One of the Cerberus personnel questioned while pointing the machine gun turret towards the following vehicles behind them. The platoon leader turned his gaze back and looked at the pursuers before responding. "No need."
"BRAVO Team will take care of them." His words resounded, making the Cerberus personnel stand down. As the armored convoy went through intersections of roads, the pursuing vehicles steadily followed from behind. But the platoon leader didn't care.
After all, BRAVO should be around in the corner.
As the armored convoy went through another intersection, a truck hauling a container appeared out of nowhere after the convoy passed through the crossing. It was none other than the BRAVO Team, who blocked the path of the pursuers.
Unable to stop in time, several vehicles crashed into the container, creating the first major traffic incident within the City of Dawn. The armored convoy continued as their exfil was merely around the corner.
