Chapter 2049: Give Up

It was easy to create a world. High supremes and even supremes could manage the deed, to say nothing of nihil powerhouses and grand supremes.

But creating a patch of real existence from the nothing?

That was almost impossible.

The Dragonquake Scripture was the secret art that lived and breathed with the Three Thousand. It contained the secrets of heaven and earth, and existence itself. Employing it was the final step to manifesting a portion of real existence.

Under the overseer’s control, the great dao and orders of the Three Thousand were completely stagnated. Even eliminating the overseer would be insufficient to return this world to what it should’ve been.

The only solution was to create another Three Thousand. Thus, all of these plots came into being, fashioning the world of immortals into the ideal world in many people’s eyes.

In light of that, numerous worlds of immortals appeared throughout the long river of time. They rose and fell with history and immortal dao was gradually perfected after endless birth and destruction.

In this particular iteration, Lu Yun and Qing Yu joined hands to fully repair immortal dao and bring it to heights heretofore unseen. That was when everything in this plot began operating in earnest.

Lu Yun was caught in the plan even now, but he’d become the most important and irreplaceable part of it.

Or rather, he’d run the possibility of being replaced before this. But since things had reached this point, his existence determined the plot’s success.

While he didn’t know what would happen if he failed, Lu Yun was well aware that before his failure was set in stone, Fuxi, Pangu, Hongjun and the others would die in front of him. They would lay down their lives to complete the final step for him.

Perhaps he wouldn’t die thanks to their sacrifices, but he would carry the burden of his guilt for the rest of his life.

“What should I do next?” Lu Yun looked at Jiang Chen.

“You’re asking me?” Jiang Chen blinked. “I’m just a guard dog… and I’m actually waiting for you to break the layout so I can absorb all of the ghostly entities. You… don’t know what to do?”

“This tomb is made from the void and its layouts are infinitely close to nothing. I’m not a nihil powerhouse, so how can I see through everything?” Lu Yun asked glumly.

“Did you gain anything before you came here that can help you reach the nihil?” Jiang Chen asked reflexively, then smacked the back of Lu Yun’s head. “All of existence knows that you can become a nihil powerhouse, but you don’t??”

Lu Yun smacked his forehead with a rueful grin. “I’m so nervous I forgot. I really forgot about that.”

He’d thought that Unrest wanted to monitor him through the power that the powerhouse had imparted. So it was supposed to be used here instead!

But still, Lu Yun didn’t leap into brash action. It wasn’t as if all of the problems would be resolved simply because he was here. Would Yun Yi need to sacrifice herself if things were that straightforward?

Jiang Chen thought better of his nonchalance when he saw how on edge Lu Yun remained. This was the overseer’s territory. If another patch of existence came into being here, that would diminish his fortuitous opportunity and divide the fortunes of the Three Thousand. Even the three hundred and sixty-five nihil powerhouses would come back to life and stop supporting the Three Thousand.

How would the overseer possibly permit that to happen?

So while he was gravely injured, he still ensured that he had people on the scene. The sacred supreme of the Cardinal Sacred Palace from earlier had been one of his. He’d set up a layout to breed ghosts, wanting to turn the tomb into a burial mound. If resentment brewed in Ancestor, it would completely destroy the portion of existence within his body.

The existence that was Lu Yun’s home.

So while Lu Yun had broken that layout, the overseer would certainly have more than just one contingency plan in place. The young man was certain that if he brought out the power of nihil right now, that contingency would show itself and banish Lu Yun from existence.

Given that he’d yet to employ it, the overseer didn’t know what the young man’s trump card was and didn’t dare take action.

“The Ancestor inside the coffin is my world?” Lu Yun asked.

“Yes,” Jiang Chen nodded. “You walked out of that coffin.”

“Then the nothing…” Lu Yun thought of the nothing that he’d seen. If Ancestor was in the coffin, how had Unrest traveled to the chief worlds to make a deal with Yun Yi?

“The nothing is the nothing. There is no concept, space, or time that exists within it. Do you understand?” Jiang Chen explained. “There is nothing in the nihil.”

All of a sudden, Lu Yun did.

Nihil existed within the empyrean crystal coffin—completely different from the wholly empty space of his imagination. There was no concept of space, so Unrest could hail from any part of nihil.

Space and time were defined by living beings. To nihil powerhouses, those meant nothing. Ancestor wasn’t in a coffin to them, he was also located in the nothing.

But the primordial world of immortals nurtured in his body was a kind of existence, so it possessed space and time. Thus, Lu Yun would have to break the empyrean crystal coffin and the tomb before he could free it.

It reminded him of the chaos.

There was also a lack of space and time in the chaos. Plainly, it was a foundation and the fourth realm a false nihil born from the chaos.

“I’m going to the World Heart,” Lu Yun suddenly said.

“You’re not going to destroy the tomb?” Jiang Chen started. He hadn’t thought that the young man would give up after reaching this point.

Going to the World Heart meant collecting the fragments of the Firmament Prison. With that, Lu Yun could make the three hells whole. It had nothing to do with the Disordered Empyrean Supreme.

Hell, the Firmament Prison, and Ruina were very important parts of reincarnation. The young man had a hunch that if the three hells were made complete, reincarnation would take another step forward. Perhaps the Tome of Life and Death would evolve again.

If it did, then his aces would be much stronger than before. He would also be more confident in destroying the tomb.

As for the tree god… he was Ling Weiyang, the Ashu of the world of immortals. Lu Yun would be able to locate his power in the World Heart and help the tree god return to himself. That would mean another immense supporter for him.

“We’ve waited so long already, a little bit longer doesn’t matter.” Jiang Chen didn’t mind. He was a nihil powerhouse, so time meant nothing to him. Although he’d gained an understanding of the concept after residing in the Three Thousand, he didn’t think much of it.

“I have set up foundations in the Three Thousand. Please look after them for me, senior.” Lu Yun raised cupped fists at Jiang Chen, who naturally wouldn’t refuse.

Neither would the overseer obstruct Lu Yun from leaving Ancestor’s tomb and returning to the world inside the coffin. He wanted nothing more than for the young man to leave as soon as possible. The sooner the better, lest unwanted developments occur from his prolonged presence.

Thus, Lu Yun left via a very smooth process and didn’t meet with any resistance.
