Chapter 2123: Bad Love Interest

Darkness shrouded the world when night arrived. Ghost zombies roamed the land, searching for any living thing that they could devour.

Many of the heavenly palace’s powerhouses were down in the world below clearing out ghost zombies. They hadn’t cared about the living on the ground before because those insignificant life forms were all guilty. They were the reason why this world had fallen.

The lofty residents of the palace wouldn’t pay any attention to the guilty, if not for the occasional appearance of preeminently strong cultivators.

With the reappearance of great dao and all living things beginning to revitalize, those of the palace naturally set aside their past hatreds. All three hundred and sixty-five of them had reached immortality.

The lowliest of the zombie kings—such as the one that Lu Yun killed first—was the equivalent of a true immortal. The one stronger than it and those on Qingfeng’s level were empyrean immortal.

The fire demon they’d encountered on their way to the palace was a peak ghost zombie king—those were august immortal.

Of the powerhouses in the heavenly palace, most of them were greater than empyrean immortal.

However, this collection of strength was far from enough to fully resurrect the world. More immortals born of the immortal dao needed to roam the land. Thus, the three hundred and sixty-five descended to the ground below to recruit and teach its inhabitants. They established sects and factions in the brand new world of immortals so that the great dao could fully flower and bear fruit.

They’d been confined to the heavenly palace before, fated to become stone sculptures when their life forces ran out. That power restricting them dissipated with the germination of immortal dao.

Lu Yun and Qing Yu strolled hand-in-hand through the awakening land, hunting down ghost zombies. These were the most direct enemy in the current world. They eliminated only the strongest ghost zombies, leaving the rest for other cultivators as a form of trial and tempering.

“Your Majesties, there seems to be a city up ahead!” Qingfeng remained by their side as a guide. This world was still too foreign to Lu Yun, but Qingfeng was rather familiar with it since she’d often visited to search for powerhouses who’d reached a zombie king’s cultivation level.

They were headed to a place called the Bewildered Domain. It was already one of the most mysterious places in this world before heaven and earth died. Now, a strange power surrounded it, keeping immortal dao at bay.

Immortal dao would be incomplete if it couldn’t saturate the world. It wouldn’t be able to replace this world’s heaven and earth to become its sovereign.

Three Supreme Immortals of Original Order had visited it days beforehand, but failed to enter the domain. Thus, Lu Yun and Qing Yu were here in person.

Lu Yun paused and looked ahead of him. There was a faint city skyline barely perceptible through the gray fog.

“It’s a ghost zombie emperor.” Lu Yun frowned at the city. Ghost zombie emperors were stronger than zombie kings and had reached the golden immortal level. He’d slaughtered his fair share of them over the past few days, but the city in front of him… gave him an incredibly dangerous feeling.

That city was the primary body of a zombie emperor.

Lu Yun could see numerous people come and go from it, but none of those were real. They were just illusions manifested by the zombie emperor.

“Let’s go around it,” Lu Yun decided.

“Is it stronger than us?” Qing Yu raised her brow. Although she was the Immortal Empress given the favor of immortal dao, she’d yet to reach that level with her personal strength. Instead, she was a peak peerless immortal.

The peerless immortals of this world were infinite times stronger than the strongest powerhouse in the nothing.

Ghost zombie emperors were just an overall category, their strength varied according to the zombie. The weakest of that level was on par with a golden immortal and the strongest—the city in front of them—rivaled a Supreme Immortal of Original Order.

Although they possessed differing levels of strength, their core nature was the same. They were superior to ghost zombie kings, yet hadn’t reached the next level. Thus, they were all defined as ghost zombie emperors.

“Supreme Immortal of Original Order,” Lu Yun nodded. “It would be a remarkable battle if I fight it and the fallout might affect the entire world. I will not provoke it before full preparations are made.”

This zombie emperor was so terrifying that Lu Yun would need to pay too great of a price if he wished to kill it. Additionally, this world could not endure a fight of such caliber.

At least, not yet.

It should be able to after they visited the Bewildered Domain and brought immortal dao into it.

Lu Yun discovered more than one harrowing ghost zombie emperor along the way, but he avoided all of them and refrained from crossing their path. As boundless as reality seemed to be, it was also extraordinarily weak and susceptible to collapse at any time.

Hellfire had been refining it into a brick all this time. The fire was extinguished when immortal dao traversed it, leaving Lu Yun to collect the rest of it. Free of this external pressure, the world slowly revitalized.

However, it was becoming more fragile at the same time.

“Why take the long way around if you’ve already come?” A clear voice rang out just as Lu Yun’s group set another route. A young man wearing pale blue robes and holding himself with a stately air abruptly appeared, his eyes fixed on Qing Yu.

“To think that such a stunning beauty would be present in this barren fragment!” He smiled gently at Qing Yu.

Lu Yun frowned slightly, seeing that the zombie emperor in the distance had shrank into a miniature city and was casually held in the young man’s hand. He hoisted it like he was flaunting his possession, sweeping Lu Feng and Qingfeng like he were a sophisticate considering country bumpkins.

When his gaze turned to Qing Yu, however, it grew ardent with desire.

Qing Yu rubbed her nose and quietly hid behind Lu Yun. It was her first time attracting attention like this in her many years of life. She’d always appeared as a man and was already Lu Yun’s woman when she recovered her true gender. Who’d dare treat her like this then?

It was such an interesting feeling to hide behind her man and wait for him to chase off unwanted courting!

Lu Yun immediately sensed Qing Yu’s nervous, but also excited state. He couldn’t help but break out in a grin. The young man in front of them was an oaf that didn’t bear regard. The tiny city he held in his hand though, was a ghost zombie emperor on the level of a Supreme Immortal of Original Order.

Why would such a powerful being be willingly enslaved by a living being? Can it be…

Perhaps the death of this world and the source of all ghost zombies lay with this young man?

“Give this woman to me, kid, and I will leave you with an intact corpse. Otherwise, everything that is you will be eradicated from existence.” The young man sneered at Lu Yun, deigning only to flick a glance at the country bumpkin. The ghost zombie emperor in his hand emanated powerful ripples as he spoke.

“Do you know where you’ve gone wrong?” Lu Yun grinned.

“Wrong?” The young man started, then roared with laughter. “That’s right, how would a lowly being like you understand my might—”

“You went wrong when you decided to hold that city with your hand.” Lu Yun raised his hand and grabbed at the young man.
