Chapter 2148: The Mental State of Wind

Yushi Moli came back to his senses and stared dumbly at where he’d just been. What… what’d just happened? Blinking, he stood frozen on the spot for a dozen more breaths before jerking back into motion.

“Did I do it? Is this the Galewind Step?” He still recalled how he’d followed the gust of autumn wind like it was second nature, stepping out with the wind. “The feeling of autumn wind… to follow the wind…”

Yushi Moli took another step forward.

Whoosh!

His body moved sideways by a meter and reappeared to the left to his previous position.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

He closed his eyes and looked inward, feeling the autumn breeze with his heart. He felt that he was turning into the wind himself. Following that, his body flashed through the woods of the mountain, chasing after the breezes. His motions were undeniably smooth, just as the book said they should be.

When he stopped fifteen minutes later, he was sweating profusely and his breathing rapid. Plainly, he’d consumed too much energy.

“So this is… mental state…” Yushi Moli realized. Martial techniques didn’t necessarily require true qi—mental state was the most important!

If he could grasp a technique’s associated mental state and use it to deploy the technique, the resulting effect was far stronger than employing true qi!

Wind!

Yushi Moli had comprehended the mental state of wind and used it as the starting point of the Galewind Step, elevating it beyond the rank it should have. It was now an upper human rank body method.

……

Yushi Moli was in a wonderful mood the next morning. He’d practiced into the wee hours of the night and returned to Clearsnow Estate only after he exhausted the last bit of stamina in his body. He felt that he’d fully mastered Galewind Step and even modified it, keeping only the essence and discarding the dross.

Not only had his Galewind Step reached great perfection, but it’d broken through to upper earth rank! He remained in the dark about this change, however, since he was unfamiliar with the ranks of this world’s martial techniques.

After one night of meditation, he was back to his usual energetic self. Upon eating breakfast and taking another Boneforge Pill, he cleaned up his room and left the estate.

Yushi Moli wouldn’t be at ease if he didn’t check on his uncle.

……

Aurora City.

The welcoming hall in the city lord’s residence.

“Stop trying my patience, Yushi Jianchou!” roared a thin elder.

“You need to know your place as well, Luo Hanye. This is Aurora City, not your Coldnight Estate,” Yushi Jianchou replied expressionlessly.

“So? You still need to give me an explanation since you are the city lord and my nephew has died in your jurisdiction!” glowered the elder named Luo Hanye.

“How preposterous!” snorted Yushi Jianchou. “So many die all the time in Aurora territory, am I to give each of them a personal explanation?”

The world of martial cultivators was filled with death and slaughter. Someone died at almost every second.

An explanation? How?

Ordinary people were curtailed by law, but martial cultivators made decisions according to their moods.

“My nephew followed your son out of town! His death must have something to do with Yushi Moli,” Luo Hanye bit off. “Have your son come out and we’ll sort things out!”

“Luo Hanye, my son is a mortal who cannot cultivate. If your nephew followed my son with malicious intentions, I should be the one who takes you to task first—”

“But the one dead is my nephew!” Luo Hanye shouted Yushi Jianchou down.

……

Yushi Moli wandered into Aurora City close to noon. Arctic wintriness was beginning to thread its way through autumn, but the city remained a hub of activity.

The boy went straight to Ouyang Du’s home when he arrived.

“Uncle Liu!” Yushi Moli greeted the steward standing at the door.

“Aiya, it’s young master Moli! Come in, come on in!” the steward responded enthusiastically.

Ouyang Du treated Yushi Moli like the boy was his own son. The Ouyang servants were also completely different from the ones at the city lord’s residence—they truly treated Yushi Moli as their young master.

“Where’s my uncle?” Yushi Moli walked in with a smile.

“The lord is, is not at home,” Steward Liu answered stiffly.

“Not home?” Yushi Moli blinked. “Where’s he gone then?”

His mental strength was so strong that he could now meditate over the sword shadow of heaven and earth whenever he wanted to; his perception of the surroundings was also growing keener. In fact, Yushi Moli was finding that he could observe the emotions of others.

Hence, he’d caught a split second of awkwardness from the steward.

“Some complications have come up with the business and so milord needs to leave Aurora City for a while.” Steward Liu managed to squeeze out a smile on his face.

“Uncle Liu!” Yushi Moli looked solemnly at the steward and asked solemnly, “Where has my uncle gone?!”

“Well…” Steward Liu hesitated when he looked into the young man’s eyes.

“How about this, tell me what happened to the Sliverlight Trading Company three days ago,” Yushi Moli demanded as a sharp light shot out of his eyes.

Steward Liu felt enormous pressure descend over him, as if it wasn’t a young man in front of him, but a mighty powerhouse that towered to the heavens.

Sliverlight Trading Company was a trading company that Ouyang Du had started from scratch. Headquartered in Aurora City, it was one of the largest companies around thanks to Yushi Jianchou’s support. At the same time, the city lord’s residence saved a great deal on their daily necessities and supplies due to their relationship with Silverlight.

“Ah…” Steward Liu paled, but quickly found the pressure dissipating. It was still a thirteen year old boy in front of him, so he sighed. “Robbers have made off with a shipment of trading goods and the lord was heavily injured three days ago. He is resting at the city lord’s residence.”

Yushi Moli spun on his heel without another word and left for his old home. Ouyang Du was the only person he cared about in this world. He had to pay a visit when his uncle was injured!

The boy bumped into an aloof Zong Yan when he reached the front doors.

“What are you doing here?” Zong Yan frowned when he saw the boy.

Yushi Moli frowned as well and a keen light flashed through the depths of his eyes. “Uncle is hurt, so I’m here to see him.”

“It has nothing to do with you, go back.” Zong Yan swept a gaze over Yushi Moli.

“My uncle is hurt!” Urgency shot out of his eyes. The old Yushi Moli would never talk back to Zong Yan, but now…

“You have departed from home and look after milord’s businesses. You are not allowed to return home without his summons, this is the rule,” Zong Yan replied coldly. “These are the rules and they cannot be broken. Do not force me into taking action against you.”

He snorted while killing intent narrowed Yushi Moli’s eyes. Somehow, it raised shock and fear in Zong Yan’s heart. He said to the two guards beside them, “You two, escort the young master back to Clearsnow Estate.”
