Chapter 2193.2: Frostmoon Ice

If it wasn’t for Tie Shanhe quickly snatching Luo Yulong out of the sky, the latter might have become the first soul projection cultivator to die from a fall—and a city lord at that!

Luo Yulong hastily took out pills when he reached the ground and poured them into his mouth, closing his eyes to digest them. Up in the air, the other six soul projection powerhouses worked in tandem to deliver another blow when they saw that Lu Yun’s dragon form was defused.

“That green seal is a nice item, it’s a mountain refined by a seed storage formation!” Lu Yun looked ardently at the seal that’d fallen to the ground. However, he had to ensure vigilance against the six remaining powerhouses.

He sent a dozen rays of sword light shooting out of Immortals Forbidden with a shake of his hand, negating their next attack. He then waved the green seal into his storage ring.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Several thousand Ashflame city guards arrived and surrounded Lu Yun within a few breaths.

“Show him no mercy!” A livid Tie Shanhe roared after swallowing various medicines.

The guards moved without hesitation, deploying a joint attack. Thousands of rays of sword light formed a massive curtain of light that loomed over Lu Yun.

Ashflame’s guards were at least golden core. When several thousand golden core cultivators formed a battle formation, their sword light came down like a massive mountain. Even Lu Yun would be heavily injured if he was hit.

The young man twisted his body, leaving nine faint shadows in the void and evaded the mountain of sword light by the skin of his teeth.

Rumble!!

The mountain of sword light rammed into Ashflame City and obliterated everything within a one and a half kilometers radius.

“A mid rank battle formation that doubles battle strength.” A frowning Lu Yun appeared again over the city’s airspace.

……

“That is the Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragon… the methods of powerhouse Slaughterless who rampaged through the Celestial Realm Battlefront eight thousand years ago,” murmured a young girl in black as she looked up at Lu Yun in the sky.

The young man moved again, leaving nine faint figures in the void and rushing into the five thousand city guards. They posed such a threat that if he let them attack from a distance, he would suffer a one-sided beating. But if he threw himself amongst them, that disrupted their tempo enough that they couldn’t threaten him to the same degree.

“Scatter!” Their captain was an initial soul projection cultivator. He knew what Lu Yun wanted to do the second the young man charged them and gave the order for his men to disperse.

“Then I’ll kill you first!” Lu Yun set his sights on their captain as soon as the guards scattered and slashed through the air. The black-armored captain didn’t even have time to react before the attack was at his face.

Whoosh!

He was hewn into two.

“No, Yu’er!! Die, you bastard!!” A middle-aged man screamed with fury when the city guard captain died and threw himself at Lu Yun.

“Latter nascent soul?” Lu Yun raised a brow. This man likely had something to do with the cultivator he’d just killed, but who cared? Everyone in front of him was an enemy. He waved out another ray of sword light and sent it howling viciously at the middle-aged man.

“Housekeeper Hui!” Luo Yulong gasped and forced a burst of true origin out of his body, raising sword light to fly to Lu Yun. “Stop, you can’t kill him!”

Did Lu Yun care what the city lord was saying? Immortals Forbidden exploded with radiance and hacked the housekeeper into two before he had time to scream.

“You, you killed Housekeeper Hui… you’re a dead man walking!” Luo Yulong’s lips trembled as he stared dumbly at Lu Yun.

The young man collected Yu’er and Housekeeper Hui’s storage rings, then sneered, “If I am, then you’re walking before me.”

His sword flared once more and emitted a resplendent sun that careened toward Luo Yulong. The city lord was aghast, never dreaming that the young man would be so frightening that a latter soul projection cultivator had no recourse in front of him.

“It looks like only a peak powerhouse of soul separation will be able to take him down!” Luo Yulong didn’t have the courage to defy Lu Yun’s blazing sun. He would be able to capture the young man if the city’s grand formation still existed. But with the disappearance of the spirit vein and the collapse of the array of ten formations, he was no match for their attacker.

Bam!

Sword light the size of a small mountain cut into the sun just as it was about to reach Luo Yulong, pulverizing the attack. The five thousand city guards had once more assembled together in their battle formation and saved their city lord’s life.

Lu Yun leered and vanished with a shift of his right foot. Nine draconic shadows streaked through the air. The Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragon was an exceedingly strong body method that enhanced one’s speed to new heights.

Without the lead of a soul projection expert, the city guards were unable to determine where he was. He barrelled into them in half a breath.

Boom!

Sword qi sprayed in all directions as a crimson dragon flashed into existence among them. One hundred golden core guards died within a few breaths.

Pitter patter!

None of the guards dared stand up to Lu Yun anymore. They abandoned their coordination and ran for their lives. The young man didn’t hunt them down, instead turning his sword light onto Luo Yulong.

“We’re leaving!” Sui Ge appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the city lord. A treasure akin to a flying ship manifested beneath their feet and flew them to safety.

“An upper spirit rank flying treasure!” Lu Yun frowned in the direction of their getaway. As fast as it was, he could catch up to it if he wanted to. But currently, he wanted Tie Shanhe’s Frostmoon Ice more. With it, he would be able to create Proxima Metal and a cross forge, thereby repairing the cross ark.

Once he had a cross ark among his arsenal, he wouldn’t need to fear the Origin Sect. He would easily retreat with his family if they found themselves on the losing side.

Lu Yun looked around him—none of the other Ashflame soul projection cultivators dared meet his eyes. They scattered in all four directions, with the exception of Tie Shanhe.

“How dare you kill Housekeeper Hui, Lu Yun!” Tie Shanhe stood quietly on the spot, an eerie smile on his face while a thick line of blood dribbled out of his mouth.

“Oh? You know me?” Lu Yun blinked. He hadn’t given out his name since leaving Darklake and had even changed his appearance, but it looked someone recognized him.

“Hahahaha!!” Tie Shanhe roared with laughter. “You caused massive upheaval in Fallen Leaf and killed the city lord of Boulder Rise, Dark Orchid labeled you as a thorn in the nation’s side long ago. Why would it not investigate you? Prince Sui’s men will arrive in Dark City soon.”

Lu Yun pursed his lips and casually killed Tie Shanhe with a flash of sword light. He grabbed the man’s nascent soul as soon as it emerged and threw it into the sword pagoda. As a soul projection cultivator, Tie Shanhe’s nascent soul could travel for thousands of kilometers and live in the absence of his physical body.

“Frostmoon Ice!” Lu Yun broke Tie Shanhe’s restriction on his storage ring and smiled faintly when he found what he wanted. “Ashflame City is done. Let’s take a look at the city lord residence.”

He sped to the tallest building in the city.

“As I thought, nothing…” The premises were empty of people and treasure. While there were a few spirit stones left in the vaults, there weren’t that many of them. Lu Yun swept them into his storage ring and left.

Luo Yulong and the others were ready as soon as trouble struck the city. They’d shifted everything out and likely notified the emperor of Dark Orchid. The imperial family would send people here soon.

Lu Yun didn’t fear soul projection experts, but he was wary of soul separation. They could trounce him with image projections and sheer strength. He wasn’t a match for them yet. While Dark Orchid was known as a fourth rank empire, it had no superior nation. Who knew if they were like Darklake and playing the pig to eat the tiger?

He left as soon as he collected everything of value in the city lord residence. Right now, he needed to find a place to refine Proxima Metal and the cross forge.

“Halt!” A slightly angry voice rang in his ears when he was fifty kilometers from the city gates.

Lu Yun jerked to a stop, finding a sixteen year old girl in front of him. Dressed in a black silk dress, she was dainty and charming, but also full of hostility. He was quite startled to find that she was a soul separation powerhouse. Her real age was indeed as she appeared—not secretly thousands of years old.

“What might this miss be looking for in stopping me?” Lu Yun went on the alert.

“You said my spirit cuisine isn’t good?!” she shouted with irritation.

“Eh…” Lu Yun blinked. “You must be mistaken, miss. When did I say… eh? Are you Spirit Chef Shen of the Immortal Gazer?”
