Chapter 2219.2: Void Sacred Flame

“Ah… I know about this.” Qin Luo, the youngest of the seven, smiled. Since Lu Yun wanted the seven brothers to support these four noble sons and daughters down on their luck, it was an appropriate time to demonstrate their worth.

The Lu young master held their lives in the palm of his hand, after all.

Qin Luo was a feminine name and his features were uncommonly delicate. If it wasn’t for the ruthless air around him, he would seem to be a dashing gentleman. He cleared his throat when he found that Ling Chu and the others were looking at him. “Sir Lu’s family should be the once Marquis Skyflame.”

Lu Yun looked at Qin Luo and inclined his head.

“Marquis Skyflame?” Ling Chu and the three looked at each other.

They were familiar with the name, but that had been a marquis from nearly three thousand years ago. Great Xia’s records of this marquis were inordinately vague. The only information was that he’d died in a massive battle.

“Marquis Skyflame was unparalleled in battle and wielded three kinds of fires of heaven and earth. He was definitively top three in the rankings of the thirty-six!” Qin Luo slotted in some casual flattery. He and his brothers were sharp and quick on the uptake. Dignity and face were less important than a piece of lower rank spirit stone to them.

“He was deeply injured in a campaign against alien races three thousand years ago, but nothing was life-threatening. He only needed to rest for a few decades before making a full recovery.

“Yet when his steward heard the news, he took advantage of the opening to kill the resting marquis and seized the entire complex. He butchered nearly every single member of the clan, leaving few survivors behind.

“Two hundred years ago, that steward discovered remnants of the clan that’d escaped and hunted them down again. Senior Lu Tianling of Darklake Empire should be the last of Marquis Skyflame’s bloodline…” Qin Luo sighed. “And that steward is the now Origin King Yan Guichi.”

“Ah…” Ling Chu and the others looked at Lu Yun with astonishment.

“I see… Ole brother Lu, who would’ve thought that we’d both have blood feuds with Yan Guichi.” Song Yi walked up and clapped Lu Yun’s shoulder. While Lu Yun had mentioned the feud before, he himself didn’t know all these particulars.

“I need you guys to help me.” Lu Yun had observed the four multiple times and noted that their expressions grew stiff each time Yan Guichi was mentioned. It was no act, which was why he reached out to them now.

Song Yi was more than happy to render a helping hand. The Argent King had had only two sons and loved them dearly. Father and sons enjoyed a very close relationship, but his elder brother was timid by nature. He didn’t dare think about revenge, yet that was all that was on Song Yi’s mind. He wanted to kill Yan Guichi and regain his family’s seat!

Great Xia’s positions of titled king were not hereditary. The primary requirement to become one was to be an arcane immortal. The other was for a titled king to perish and for the heavenly book to acknowledge a new one.

If a king perished and there was another arcane immortal within their family, then the position would go to the second arcane immortal. However, that was much easier said than done. There was only one arcane immoral in most titled king households, and it wasn’t that easy for a titled king to die since they were protected by the heavenly book.

Lu Yun had known all of this when he reincarnated through Great Xia. It was a time so far removed from present day that who knew how many Human Emperors had sat on the throne since then?

“Us siblings owe our lives to ole brother Lu and Song Yi regularly looks after us. Since our brother has asked us for help, the only thing for us to do is to say yes,” Ling Chu responded with a glance at Ling Ling. His tone was calm as opposed to being charged with heroism, but the more he was thus, the more at ease Lu Yun was.

“Heh, Song Yi is generous and ole brother Lu is a good guy. Who am I helping if not you guys?” Shi Jian laughed.

“In that case, I thank all of you!” A smile crossed Lu Yun’s face. “I only hope that you’ll help me create a foundation in Great Xia, that I might have a place to stand on when I return.”

“Don’t worry!” Song Yi heartily clapped Lu Yun’s shoulder. He knew he had to ally with others if he wished to take revenge on Yan Guichi. It wasn’t feasible for him to do it by himself. Since the Lus also had a blood feud with Yan Guichi, the two parties stood a chance if they worked together.

As for the gap between the two—the founder of Great Xia had come from nothing and made his way to the top from the humble beginnings of qi refinement. Song Yi and the others had located their fortuitous opportunity in Immortal Burial Valley. They would be able to eliminate Yan Guichi one day when they accumulated sufficient strength.

“I leave these seven in your hands.” Lu Yun glanced at Nan Ting and the other six. “Their methods are bizarre and their potential is limitless. They’re perfect sparring partners.”

Ling Ling narrowed her eyes and looked around rapidly, already debating how to turn the seven inside and out. The brothers could only hang their heads in dread.

They thought very highly of themselves and didn’t think much of even Great Xia nobility. But they were now someone’s henchmen and they didn’t dare think of resisting given Lu Yun’s ray of sword qi in their nascent spirits.

“In that case, this matter cannot be delayed. The four of us will head back first—it’s the perfect time for us to stretch our legs since most of Great Xia’s factions are gathered here!” Ling Chu stood up and took a deep breath, the keen light of wisdom shining in his eyes.

“Alright then, let’s go back right now!” Song Yi concurred. “My elder brother may not have great ambitions, but he’s very good to me. I can borrow our family’s strength for certain things.”

Lu Yun nodded. He’d chosen these four for the factions that stood behind them. Being descendants of nobility, it wouldn’t raise untoward attention that they’d formed a group of their own.

“Very good, go back first and I’ll send more people to help you after a while.” Lu Yun was planning on sending Terra Demon to Great Xia. Building a faction in the immortal dynasty was his predetermined plan—he’d just lacked a spokesperson. Knowing their character, these four were the perfect candidates. They were loyal people who highly valued relationships.

They were grateful to Lu Yun for saving their lives twice. Ling Chu and Shi Jian deciding to sacrifice themselves for the others was the final reason why he chose them.

Ling Chu, Song Yi, Shi Jian, and Ling Ling had located their fortunes in Immortal Burial Valley. Their strength had taken one large step forward and they could not be placed among the ranks of the greatest geniuses of Great Xia.

Nan Ting and his brothers were also premier geniuses. These eleven weren’t the strongest now, but they would truly come into their own if given enough time.

Lu Yun had thought that he was in this world only to experience the vicissitudes of life and experience heavenly dao, but another desire brewed in his heart at this moment.

He wanted to save the world.

It wasn’t just an urge from his sealed memories, but his most direct thoughts in this current moment of time. He wanted to defy the heavens and change destiny.

……

Lu Yun continued toward the east after sending off Ling Chu and the others. The power of fire grew stronger until the void was dyed red.

“This is it! There’s no doubt about it!” Cracks emitting blazing air fissured the ground. This was a zone of a sea of magma. Other cultivators had also discovered the abnormalities of this area—there were no less than one thousand gathered on the premises.

“There’s the aura of a fire of heaven and earth! One of those flames is here!” someone called out, prompting waves of enthusiasm through the crowd. More crowded the depths of this area.

A massive sea of leaping fire could be found at the end; a pinprick of scarlet was particularly eye-catching at its center. Many people regarded it with ardent gazes.

“Good, good, very good!” a handsome young man roared with laughter. Surrounded by three dozen peak awakened cultivators and wearing purple brocade robes, a purple ribbon in his topknot gave him a magnanimous bearing. “It’s the flame ranked third highest on the ranking—the Void Sacred Flame!”

“The Void Sacred Flame!” Lu Yun jumped with shock when he saw the smear of scarlet in the depths of the fiery sea.

The original form of the greatest immortal king in the world of immortals, the Undying Immortal King who answered to the southern immortal emperor, was the Void Sacred Flame! What was it doing here?!

The Eye of Nullification showed clearly that a small flame jumped quietly over a lotus of fire. While it was full of spirituality, it’d yet to form a fire spirit. It was just a pure flame of heaven and earth.
