Chapter 1037: To The Skies!
David looked at him incredulously.
"I like the enthusiasm, wolfy. But not all of us can grow wings like you," he said mockingly.
"You're right. But we have an alternative," Alex replied, hopping over the fence again and sliding toward the crater.
Kary knew better than to try to get him to explain and instead followed behind him, commanding the others to follow suit.
"Everyone into the crater!"
Aside from Liu Yan, there was very little hesitation as the others hopped the fence in quick succession, sliding or skipping their way behind Alexander and Kary.
David looked at them with a smirk.
"Look at us, becoming fugitives. Ah, they grow up so fast," he said mockingly before following behind them.
As they all reached the flat part below, Alexander turned to look at David, who was still sliding down.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
While he waited for him to reach them, Alex reached inside his mind for someone else. 'Shegror. I know I'm asking you to do something that isn't very dignified, and I apologize in advance. But these are extenuating circumstances, and I need your help.'
It took a moment before he heard Shegror sigh deeply inside his head.
'I already know what you're going to ask. Do I have a choice?' she asked, her tone grumpy.
'Not really?' Alex replied.
Another moment of silence ensued before Shegror grumbled back at him.
'Fine. But you owe me!'
Alex chuckled internally, acquiescing to her demand, before focusing on David, who had just arrived before him.
"How many people can your drake hold?" he asked without explaining his plan.
"Uh... Not enough?" David replied.
"David. How many?"
Alex took no chance, surrounding them with a barrier, but his mana was already running thin, and the barrier was flimsy at best. He was scared it wouldn't block a bullet.
*Bang!*
*Ting!*
As the first shot was fired, a wind wall rose around the crater, the gusts kicking up dust and loose sand, slowing down the bullet before it bounced off the shield Alex had erected. Alexander looked up at Jonathan, giving him a thumbs up, and the kid grinned in response. Seconds later, a barrage of bullets rained in their direction, only for the same thing to happen repeatedly as the drake and dragon finally took to the skies.
It wasn't until they were many hundred meters in the air that Alex relaxed. Of course, they weren't out of the woods yet, but the risk had drastically reduced.
Alex quickly guided the flight northeast, as they couldn't just land at the airport on dragons and called Major Schrute.
The call rang twice before the woman picked up, her voice annoyed.
"About time you called! I've been waiting around at this damned hangar for four days! Where
the hell have you been?!" she growled in his ear.
"Major, I don't have time for this. How soon can you take flight?"
The woman calmed down from the urgency in his tone.
"Half an hour, at best. I'll have to submit a flight plan to the control tower."
"Great," Alex replied, cutting her off.
"Submit a flight plan to Yeosu Airport and meet us there."
The Major was about to argue his order, but the call abruptly ended.
"Little fucker, rushing me like this. And where the fuck was he? It sounded like he was in a
wind tunnel," she complained as she started plotting a flight plan.
Alex smiled as the thought of her being pissed off made him happy for a moment. He had
looked online for the closest airport to them that would have less strict security, and the Yeosu Airport had popped up.
It was barely an airport, the runway scarcely big enough for small commercial flights to land. But that was perfect for their needs.
'At least we'll have a few hours to take off before the authorities catch on to our scent.'
