“I told you you’re wrong. I just need to know more about him, that’s all,” Sehun said.
Mihee hummed, trying to pull out as much information from the depths of her brain. Her forehead creased in concentration, and she pursed her lips. However, nothing big seemed to come up.
Sehun asked Mihee only because Yoonshin’s skepticism about his blind date bothered him. Sehun waved his hand, having not expected too much from the beginning. “If you don’t know anything, it’s fine.”
“Yeah, I don’t know anything about Attorney Do getting married, but…” Mihee said, trailing off.
“But?”
“Speaking of marriage, there’s a rumor that there’s friction between Ikyung Do and her husband.”
Most marriages between wealthy families had some sort of deal between them. However, Ikyung and her husband were one of the few cases where they got married out of love and were treated as an anomaly. The general public paid more attention to their activities for that reason. Perhaps that was why, but even before their wedding bells rang far and wide, several groundless rumors were floating around. Sehun, who knew all of that, wasn’t very reactive.
“Aren’t there always weird rumors about that family? Nothing big has happened for 10 years since they got married,” Sehun said blandly.
Mihee waved her hand. “It’s a bit different this time. Attorney Do’s brother-in-law—no, Soohan Holding’s Director Jeongwon Yoo said himself that it’s hard for him to handle his wife.”
Upon hearing this new information, Sehun frowned. “Hard to handle… He says that as if he’s a victim. Either he is a real victim, or he wants to become one.”
“It’s weird, isn’t it? Director Yoo met a good wife, so he’s being presented as a decent human being, but we both know that deep down to the core, he’s an elitist bully.”
“Don’t they have two children?”
“Two sons. Neither of them is elementary school age. I don’t think things will turn too sour. They have the kids, they’re young, and Ikyung is particularly clever and meticulous, so I don’t think she’ll act rashly. It’s just that since Attorney Do is at our firm, I just can’t ignore gossip about that family. You should keep it in mind.”
“I will. Okay, you’re free to leave,” Sehun said.
Mihee patted Sehun’s shoulder in encouragement and left his office. When the door closed, Sehun, who was perching on the armrest all along, leaned against his plush sofa. He sat as still as water while his thoughts ran wildly. The strong rays of sun smeared into the office.
Sehun closed the blinds to the outside windows first before dialing an extension on his office phone.
Secretary Tak picked up instantly. “Yes, Attorney Kang.”
“Just a moment ago, Senior Attorney Song brought some paperwork for a new file. It’s from Taesan Construction about acquiring Youngjin Construction, so make the seniors in the team scrape up some reference material. Also, there’ll be a pro bono that Attorney Song assigned to Yoonshin Do. Once he comes up, he’ll bring documents from the client. Make a copy for me too,” Sehun instructed.
“Understood. Oh, is your headache all right now? You had it all last week. If not for Attorney Do, I wouldn’t have known that you were having headaches.”
The one who triggered his vertigo of thoughts and prickling pain was Yoonshin. Sehun thought back to the deep kiss they shared the other night and pressed his bottom lip with his finger. The soft sensation of something covering his smooth lips was still vivid as if it had just happened moments ago. The memories of it revived every time he stroked his lips.
He felt blood pooling into his heart and frowned, making his reply delayed. “It’s much better. You don’t need to worry about it.”
“Then I’ll just hand over the documents when they’re ready. Is there anything else?”
“No, thank you.”
Upon hanging up, Sehun surrendered his back to his sofa. Perhaps it was because of the new information that Mihee left. He inevitably recalled when he bumped into Yoonshin in the second-floor library.
