The visits that the secretary, recommended by Professor Do when she got married, made were suspicious. He was furtively meeting all the reputable lawyers connected with the deceased Professor Do.Chaebol families had personal family lawyers, so it wasn’t all that special to say that he was meeting with a lawyer, but considering the situation, the story was different.
“Soohan has a private home medical center, yet she secretly visited another hospital—not just once, but several times.”
There was an exclusive medical center for the family, and there was a large hospital operated by the group, yet Director Ikyung Do went to the private practice of a doctor whom she knew since before her marriage. That was strange no matter how he saw it.
That wasn’t the only dubious thing. She also frequented the gallery—her workplace—less and increased her time with her children. Half a year ago, she sent her younger brother to Doguk. Yoonshin himself said that he came according to his sister’s wishes, so she probably had some hidden reason.
‘Is it an unwanted pregnancy? Or findings of violence?’ Sehun thought, ‘Or it could be something else.’
Then, as he skimmed down the illegally obtained medical records, his eyes narrowed.
He flipped through the documents sternly, and his suspicions solidified. There was clearly an issue between the couple. It was even worse than what Mihee had presumed.
‘This side is quite obviously cheating.’ Sehun stared at the photos depicting Director Yoo, Yoonshin’s brother-in-law, exiting a luxury villa with another woman. He tipped his head, perplexed. ‘I’m sure he would have offered a settlement for divorce before the physical violence started.’
Assuming that the husband asked for the divorce first, then the rest followed naturally. The wife would look for another lawyer to defend her instead of going to Soohan’s family lawyer, and she obtained several reports about her physical condition. Unlike her husband who neglected his family, she increased her time with her children to strengthen her position on custody, and she started to put her affairs in order.
It was a clear signal that she was prepared to shake up the game to take it to court.
Recently, Soohan entered the stages of successorship of the company. The eldest and second-born sons were currently engaged in a power struggle. The shockwaves of divorce would be immense even if they settled it quietly, but if she were to completely turn the tables like this, the situation wouldn’t be favorable for Director Yoo.
Her husband wouldn’t let her do that. He would surely retaliate. In that process, he would look for a sacrifice, and someone would get hurt. And more likely than not, the one to get hurt would be the one who started the fight. That was probably why Yoonshin didn’t look very bright these days.
After matching pieces of the puzzle of a situation, Sehun could quickly see the big picture. Yoonshin’s sister sheltered Yoonshin in Doguk before she started her fight against her husband, and she chose Sehun to be Yoonshin’s shield.
“One wrong move and Doguk might get screwed over too,” he muttered to himself, then he flipped to the next screen. Sehun’s eyes narrowed.
The outlook of the firm, stuck between a billionaire couple’s troubles, didn’t look too great.
One of Doguk’s primary sources of income was legal work from Soohan. Sehun took on a broad variety of projects from Soohan, but Attorney Song and countless other partners had deep ties to Soohan. To put it another way, Doguk couldn’t afford to have Soohan turn their backs to them. Wasn’t that why Mihee accepted Yoonshin in the first place?
