“If I were his elder brother, I wouldn’t send him to me. That would be like staining a blank canvas with bad water. You’ve made a grave mistake,” Sehun said coldly.
There was an indescribably hostile silence between the two. Sehun was adamantly and pertinaciously criticizing Ikyung. Ikyung must have perceived that because her calm façade crumbled and grew dark.
Wordlessly, the two glared daggers at each other. Since they met anyway, Sehun figured that he might as well settle the situation once and for all.
“Now let me ask you. What exactly do you want from me?” Sehun asked.
Ikyung’s composed yet turbulent dark eyes were fixed on Sehun as she slowly reached her hand out. The anxiety in her eyes must have transmitted to her fingertips as her hands were trembling as she picked up her teacup and took a sip of the warm beverage. She remained silent for several more seconds to collect herself, then she said, “After I die, I’m thinking of donating all my assets to the incorporated association of your firm. As a member of Soohan for 10 years, I’m going to direct as many cases as possible to the firm, using the network I built over the years. I’m sure this would be of great assistance to the firm.”
“Just get to the point. Don’t make your point vague. I hate beating around the bush.”
Ikyung must have thought that Sehun would bolt out of the room at any moment because her hesitation was gone, instead replaced with anxiety. She continued, “Please continue to be responsible for Yoonshin and keep him employed.”
“Why should I be responsible for him? Did I give birth to him?”
“I’m just asking you to save him.”
Sehun scoffed. “Is Yoonshin Do dying? I didn’t kill him, so why would he die? I’m the only one who can kill him. You’re not making any sense to me.”
“I was… trying to prepare various things under the radar to the best of my abilities. I really tried.”
Sehun closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh, then he opened his eyes again. She had only uttered a few anxious sentences, but that was enough. Because he already knew of her situation, he could figure out the rest.
“Since we don’t have much time, I’ll ask directly. You’re preparing a divorce lawsuit. Did Director Yoo find out?” Sehun asked.
The teacup in Ikyung’s hand slipped, clattering on impact. She was so shocked that Sehun had seen through her situation. The cup rattled around in its saucer before it stopped moving. Taking her reaction as affirmation, he frowned slightly.
This reaction was understandable. No matter how great his informational network was, he could only find out so much as an individual. He couldn’t possibly rival that of a large corporation like Soohan Group. Yet if this was something that Sehun himself could find out so easily, as long as there were some basic sources, her husband could find out with a wave of his hand.
“Did Yoonshin tell you? I told him to keep it secret. He’s not the kind of kid to go against my words. Something is wrong here. Did my husband pressure the firm or…?”
“He didn’t say a word. He’s still your obedient younger brother. It’s something that I personally found out. You’ve never pushed to meet me before, yet you suddenly requested to see me assertively, so I merely guessed that your situation worsened.”
He implied that the firm wasn’t impacted yet, and her anxious face relaxed somewhat. Still, her voice trembled slightly, showing her unease.
