(Trying to Lie to a Ghost?)
Stuck in a trance, Fang Qi followed the two big bosses and walked out of the classroom building. It was only when he saw a green flowerbed in front of him that he came to himself: “We’re not going back to class?”
Shen Dongqing did not turn his head back, “If you want to go, you can.”
That gave Fang Qi a start, and he quickly hastened his speed to keep up with the two great gods.
As Shen Dongqing walked, he flipped open《Campus’ Strange Talks》and noted that out of five strange talks, they had discovered three and there were two remaining. His gaze landed on “Cries in the Cafeteria” and he rubbed his flat belly: “A little hungry.”
The snacks he had bought with his points had already been eaten.
A hand suddenly appeared in front of Shen Dongqing’s vision.
Shen Dongqing blinked once and he watched as Zhou Wenyan opened his hands to reveal the jelly that was lying inside.
He turned to look at it.
Solemnly, Zhou Wenyan raised his chin, “Have at it.”
Feeling a little embarrassed, Shen Dongqing laughed as he stretched his hand out to receive before he peeled it back and finished it with a mouthful. He licked the corner of his lips as if he wanted to continue something, and his gaze involuntarily fell on Zhou Wenyan’s back.
He really wanted a bite.
It must be delicious……
Shen Dongqing’s tongue roved over his upper lip and he narrowed his eyes.
Zhou Wenyan stopped, “We’re here.”
Shen Dongqing controlled himself and tore his gaze away from Zhou Wenyan to look at the word “Cafeteria” right in front of him.
He felt hungrier, what should he do?
But it was not mealtime now.
Zhou Wenyan pushed open the glass door.
The cafeteria was quiet, and there was not even a staff member in sight. Above head, only the electric fans were humming.
Shen Dongqing walked in while holding onto the door.
The floor of the cafeteria was laminated with white porcelain, and it was clean and smooth to the extent where a person’s reflection could be seen. He took two steps forward and he faintly smelled the scent that was wafting out of the back kitchen.
Shen Dongqing took a deep breath.
The sweet smell was rich, and a whiff was enough to make a person salivate. But after smelling it for a long while, they would become faintly aware of the bloody smell encompassed within it.

Wanting to see what was being stewed, Shen Dongqing lifted his feet and tried to walk over.
But Fang Qi was faster than him; as if he had been entranced, his lifeless eyes fluttered towards the stovetop, and he seemed to want to throw himself into the boiling hot soup alive.
Quick of eye and deft of hand, Sheng Dongqing’s leg snapped out, kicking Fang Qi to the ground.
Fortunately, he was cognizant of the fact that Fang Qi was not as coarse-skinned and thick in flesh as ghosts and monsters, and he deliberately lessened his strength. Despite his restraint, Fang Qi still fainted and passed out on the ground, eyes rolling to the whites.
“A guest is here.”
A fat man in a chef’s outfit appeared out of nowhere.
He was an exemplar of a chef’s stature; he had a big belly and he was splattered with grease, and on his chubby face, he wore an affable smile – but that impression was ruined by the bloody boning knife in his hand.
The chef looked at the students who had broke into the back kitchen with a crinkle-eyed smile, and he moved towards the gurgling and bubbling pot before he ladled the contents out with a long scoop.
“You’re just in luck; my soup has finished cooking, why don’t you try my handiwork?”
Shen Dongqing glanced at it. The soup in the bowl was dark and he could not see the ingredients that had been used but there was a suspicious hair floating on it.
The chef put down the boning knife, and without needing to exert much effort, he managed to impale the knife straight into the table.
“Out of the three bowls, only one bowl is made for students, the other two bowls… perhaps you might drink something unappetising like hands, feet, etcetera.”
“You can only leave the kitchen after drinking the right soup. If you don’t drink it, you can only stay.”
As for what might happen after staying, a glance at the boning knife in front of the chef was sufficient to make a person understand that there would be no good endings.
“Three bowls of soup, three people…” The chef rubbed his protruding belly and spoke amicably, “Since one person has fainted and he can’t drink the soup, why don’t you let him stay behind? What do you think?”
The chef wanted to see the terror the three students would show before their death; he wanted to savour their frightened appearances after they realised that in order to carve a living road for themselves, they had to forsake their companion, and it made for all the ingredients of his favourite drama.
The chef looked at them with a smile.
En?
Why was the shorter man lowering his head in contemplation while the taller one was standing behind him with a visage of indifference which might be tinged with impatience as well?
They were not scared in the least.
The smile on the chef’s face gradually faded: “Did you not hear me?”
Shen Dongqing lifted his head and seriously said: “I think you’re lying.”
Chef: “?”
Shen Dongqing raised his finger, “The three bowls of soup you ladled all came from the same pot, are you trying to lie to ghost?”
The chef froze.
That does seem to be the case, how could one pot produce two different soups? The logic did not seem to tally.
But that was his given setting. Prior to this, players had always obediently listened to his words, and no one had dared to ask him such a question.
The chef’s thoughts were in slight disorder.
Shen Dongqing kindly reminded him: “Would you like to cook another pot?”
The chef suddenly saw the light, “You’re right, give me a moment…”
Saying the sentence mid-way, the chef came back to himself abruptly: he was not a real chef; he was one of the strange talks in the campus, why was he reasoning with others and thinking objectively?
After figuring that out, the chef picked up his boning knife and swapped out his previous image of kindness for viciousness as he said: “Are you drinking it or not?”
His actions seemed to imply that as long as the person in front of him said “No,” the boning knife would chop them into half instantaneously.
You should be scared now, right?
Shen Dongqing was not scared at all. Rather, he sighed in relief: “That’s better.”
Previously, the chef had invited them to drink the soup so nicely and he felt ashamed if he had to directly act, and now it felt more proper.
When his voice landed, the chef felt an inexplicable chill rise behind him.
Wait……
The chef’s vision suddenly went dark and his huge body toppled over with a bang, and his boning knife similarly fell out of his hands and clattered to the ground.
Shen Dongqing stepped over the chef lying on the floor and stood in front of stovetop. Using the long scoop, he ladled a spoonful of contents from the pot, only to see a finger and strands of floating in the scoop.
He dropped the apparatus and said indignantly: “He really was trying to lie to a ghost.”
Initially, he was wondering if he could find something to eat, but in the end, he had thrown disgusting things into the stew.
He could not eat it at all.
Shen Dongqing was so angry that his cheeks were puffed out on both sides.
Zhou Wenyan could not help but chuckle lowly, and he beckoned him with a hand, “Come here.”
Shen Dongqing looked over and his eyes suddenly glittered.
Zhou Wenyan was holding onto a rainbow lollipop and he waved it at him: “Don’t be angry, here’s a candy for you.”
Shen Dongqing leapt over and bit into the lollipop. The saccharine sweet taste melted in his mouth and it was like dark clouds had parted for a clear day.
Because he was sucking on the lollipop, his words were a little garbled, “Where did it come from?”
Zhou Wenyan: “Props.”
Shen Dongqing cocked his head, “En? Props can be eaten?”
Zhou Wenyan nodded his head.
【 Prop Name: Little Girl’s Lollipop
Introduction: This is a lollipop given by mother. Mother told her to go home early, if she did not go home on time, mother will be angry and even ghosts and monsters are afraid of mother being angry.
Usage: It can resist six hours of incursion with ferocious ghosts.
Grade: S-Class
How to attain it: A\\S level copies, has a very small drop chance. 】
It could be regarded as a life saving prop, and even if others sought for it outside, it was not something they could request.
Zhou Wenyan had expended a lot of effort to get the prop but it had been useless for a long time. Now that it had come in handy, he supposed it was worth it.
If others saw how Zhou Wenyan had wasted the resource recklessly, it would not be understatement to say that they might shed some tears.
Biting on the lollipop, Shen Dongqing opened《Campus’ Strange Talks》again.
【Cries in the Cafeteria: The kitchen in Qinghai High School was a forbidden area, if you accidentally break into it, you will be invited by an enthusiastic chef to taste his delicious soup. However, only one bowl of soup was prepared for students, if the wrong soup was ingested, they will have to stay and become the soup for the next student.】
Kacha—
Shen Dongqing bit into the candy, “There’s one last one.”
Qinghai High School had a total of five strange talks on the campus, and while the others were forthcoming with the location, only the last “Lost Doll” lacked coherence and they did not know where to start.
Zhou Wenyan followed behind him at a leisurely pace to walk out of the cafeteria, “The school can only be so big, we’ll just have to slowly find it.”
Shen Dongqing nodded, and he seemed to think of something as he asked: “Did we forget something?”
“Hm…” Zhou Wenyan said with certainty, “No.”
