“Who?”
“Red Lotus!”
Butler Fu was stunned and immediately made his way to the room. Just as he pushed open the door, he saw Chu He sitting quietly on the bed. A servant was trying to persuade her, but she took no notice of her and held onto the bedside table with a firm gaze.
“What’s wrong?”
Butler Foo walked over and looked at her, then at the servant, with a puzzled expression.
“Butler Fu, she’s just woken up. The doctor told her not to move about, but she’s insisting on getting out of bed and walking around!”
When Butler Fu heard this, he was relieved it was only a small matter. “You’ve been lying down for so long, you should really move around!”
The servant fell silent.
Butler Fu walked over and smiled at her. “Miss, you’re finally awake! You’ve been lying here for two months!”
Red Lotus looked at him and opened her mouth. Before she could say anything, Butler Fu seemed to have guessed and interrupted, “Don’t worry! I know what you’re worried about! Baby Chu is fine! He went to school and probably isn’t back yet!”
“School?” She looked even more confused.
“Baby Chu has already been included in the household register. Like other kids his age, he’s started kindergarten.”
The elderly man added, “When this little lad heard that he could go to school, he was so happy that he danced around! After all, children at this age are most playful! How lonely would it be if he had no friends?”
When Chu He heard this, her cold expression softened a little. Her gaze was filled with gratitude as she softly said, “Thank you.”
She could tell that Butler Fu took very good care of Baby Chu.
Most importantly, perhaps because of his age, there was a sense of benevolence around Butler Fu. It was hard to imagine that he and that cold and cruel man were master and servant.
As long as it was someone who was truly good to Baby Chu, she was grateful for it.
Chu He said, “I’d like to get out of bed and walk around.”
Because she had been lying down for so long, the lack of movement had caused the function of her limbs to decline.
She knew very well that she needed immediate rehabilitation.
When Butler Fu heard this, he immediately said, “Don’t be in a hurry to get off the bed and walk around! You just woke up and your body hasn’t adapted yet! Besides, you haven’t eaten for two months. Why don’t you eat something first? Otherwise, if you insist on getting off the bed, I’m afraid you’ll have low blood sugar.”
Chu He smiled gratefully. “Alright then!”
Butler Fu returned a satisfied smile before he turned around and instructed, “Get the kitchen to prepare some porridge and side dishes!”
“Alright.”
About ten minutes later, the servants brought porridge and some delicious side dishes. They were afraid that her stomach would not be used to the sudden intake, so they did not give her rice for the time being. Instead, they had prepared coarse grain porridge.
Chu He was touched by Butler Fu’s thoughtfulness. One could tell from minute details whether a person was truly concerned.
Chu He picked up her chopsticks with trembling hands and started to eat slowly.
Butler Fu looked at her and felt sorry for her.
This woman used to be enemies with the Gu family.
But for some odd reason, he was caring towards her. Could the reason be that she was Baby Chu’s mother?
Or was it because he felt too sorry over the fact that a woman should have to go through so much physical hardship in order to survive?
Especially when he saw her struggling to hold the chopsticks and then trying to slowly swallow the food. He obviously felt a stinging pain in his heart.
“Is it too hot?”
Chu He slowly shook her head.
Butler Fu smiled and sat by the bed, giving her an update about Baby Chu.
Chu He listened attentively.
