Chapter 220 - Jiang Hao's Plan

Fourth Uncle's family has a thriving vegetable garden. When harvest time comes around, Fourth Aunt picks some of the produce and takes it to sell in the nearest county town. Sometimes they wait for the vegetable merchants to come to them. It's an important source of income for their household.

​”Ah, these cabbages are so good, yet the prices are ridiculously low!” Fourth Aunt lamented as she surveyed the field of cabbages with a heavy sigh.

​Jiang Hao, puzzled, turned to her. “Fourth Aunt, shouldn't our natural produce fetch a decent price?”

​Hearing this, Fourth Aunt let out a wry laugh. “No matter how good the vegetables are, when there's an oversupply, the prices drop. Plus, our little place can't consume all that we grow.”

As Jiang Hao gazed over the expanse of cabbages and other vegetables, an idea suddenly struck him. “Fourth Aunt, do many people in our village grow vegetables?”

​Caught off guard by the question, Fourth Aunt replied without much thought. “Jiang Village has always been poor. Growing and selling vegetables is a key source of income here. Nearly every household has their own patch.”

“Hao Hao, what's this about?” she inquired, noticing the spark of excitement on his face.

​”Come on, Fourth Aunt, let's head back and call a meeting with the villagers. I'm going to buy up all the ripe vegetables in Jiang Village right now!” Jiang Hao announced, his decision taking Fourth Aunt by surprise.

​”Hao Hao, why buy so many vegetables? And from the whole village, no less? Flooding the market with too much produce will only lead to them not selling!”

“And vegetables don't keep well,” she added, trying to dissuade him.

Jiang Hao reassured each person, asking them to take a seat, waiting to address everyone collectively once they had all arrived.

Before long, everyone had gathered. Jiang Hao then stood up to speak.

“Today, we've convened for a reason that I'm sure you're all aware of!”

“I plan to purchase all the village's vegetables to sell them in the big cities!”

The moment Jiang Hao's words fell, a buzz of quiet conversation spread among the crowd.

Jiang Hao made a gesture for silence before continuing.

“There's no need to worry. I'm willing to offer a price for the vegetables that's 20% above the market rate!”

“Anyone interested in selling, please go register with my sister. Afterwards, you can come to me for an advance payment!”

After Jiang Hao's announcement, a stir went through the crowd.

“Hao Hao, make sure you've thought this through. If things don't go as planned, the vegetables could rot, and you're offering such a high price!”

“You could end up with a massive loss!”
