Chapter 70: Zunesha“Vice Admiral Saitama!” Saitama, casually engrossed in his newspaper, was rudely interrupted as a marine soldier shouting with urgency, “The city’s under attack!” Saitama blinked, momentarily confused. “Huh?” The soldier, gasping for breath, continued, “Beasts are wreaking havoc in the city, and Commodore Tashigi’s trapped, desperately requesting reinforcements!” Saitama frowned. “Beasts? Here? Are you sure?” The soldier nodded vigorously, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. “Yes, Vice Admiral, I saw them with my own eyes.” Saitama sighed and pushed the newspaper aside. He sized up the distance. “Looks like I’ll have to sprint if I want to get there in time.” Before he could finish his sentence, he vanished from the ship’s deck. With the speed of a lightning bolt, he raced toward the central city! As each second passed, the cacophony of the beasts’ roars and the cries of terrified citizens became more distinct. In the heart of the city, a horde of monsters ran amok. Despite the determined efforts of shipbuilders, marines, and even pirates, these creatures proved impervious to blades, explosives, and all forms of attack, turning the scene into a surreal nightmare. “Damn it! What the heck are these?” Zoro exclaimed in shock. The Straw Hat Pirates found themselves in a desperate battle against strange creatures. These monsters weren’t just big; their tough hides and incredible strength made them almost invulnerable. Neither Luffy’s punches nor Zoro’s swords seemed to have any effect on them. “Let the party begin, Jajujujuju...” Scholar lurking in the shadows sneered. He held a book about the island of Rusukaina, particularly focusing on its rare animals. Rusukaina was an island in the Calm Belt, situated to the northwest of Amazon Lily. It was known for its harsh environment with forty-eight seasons a year, which changed almost weekly. Various dangerous animal species called this island home. Legend had it that a civilization once existed here, but they couldn’t withstand the ferocious beasts and eventually perished. Now, thanks to the Scholar’s special abilities, these monsters had been revived, causing havoc in Water 7. -AOoooooohHH- A thunderous roar echoed through the place. Over time, the monsters grew increasingly agitated, their fury rising. One of them, a bizarre creature with the head of a crocodile, the body of a dinosaur, and dragon-like wings, closed in on Luffy with lightning speed. With a sudden lunge, it opened its massive jaws, seemingly about to devour his head. “Luffy!!” Nami screamed in sheer terror, her heart pounding as she watched her captain’s life in danger. In a surprising twist that left Nami stunned, Luffy’s quick thinking saved him. His head extended, and his neck contorted, allowing him to slip between the crocodile’s fangs, narrowly evading its attack. Meanwhile, Zoro and Sanji were embroiled in intense battles against their strange adversaries. Zoro found himself pitted against a colossal three-headed lion. With each head he severed, a new one regrew, seemingly even more powerful than the last. This relentless regeneration frustrated him to no end. Sanji, on the other hand, faced off against a bizarre creature that resembled a centaur but with the body of a gorilla instead of a human torso. Every time Sanji unleashed a powerful kick, the gorilla taunted him with a cruel, mocking laugh, making for a challenging fight. Not far away, Tashigi faced off against a massive, pink elephant with a lizard-like tail. Its thick, resilient hide rendered Tashigi’s attacks ineffective, leaving her hands trembling from the exertion. As the battle raged on, her strength dwindled, and she struggled to remain on her feet. It was a precarious moment, and the elephant seized the opportunity. With a colossal shadow cast over her, the beast swung its trunk forcefully, striking Tashigi and sending her airborne, before crashing painfully onto the ground. Pain shot through her body as she lay there, gasping for breath. Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of one person, “Saitama... I had hoped to share in your adventures... To stand by your side in battles... To protect you with all my might... But... Tt seems fate had other plans... You were the one who protected me! And without you, I’m... I’m just a shadow!...” With these words, she closed her eyes, accepting her impending fate. But, fate took an unexpected turn. Something — or rather, someone — intervened, preventing the elephant from crushing her. “Hey, you Curly ! Hurry!” Opening her eyes, she saw a man wielding three swords, desperately trying to hold back the elephant’s foot, saving her from certain death. Simultaneously, another one swiftly carried her to safety. “Careful, Beauty! You should watch your step!” He turned to check on his friend, only to be filled with dread as he noticed the monster’s lizard-like tail was about to strike him. “ZOROOO!” In that critical moment, the tail strike stirred up a cloud of dust that enveloped the area. Sanji swiftly left the girl he had been carrying and sprinted back towards Zoro, his heart pounding with the hope of saving him. Luffy, witnessing the dire situation, couldn’t contain his fury and panic, his emotions running wild. Nami and the rest of the crew stood in stunned silence, their faces marked with tears and fear. After several seconds, two figures emerged from the settling dust. The scene gradually cleared, revealing Zoro, gripping his swords, eyes tightly shut as he braced for the worst. Standing beside him was a bald man, poised in a combat stance. “Am I still alive?” Zoro mumbled in confusion, his voice tinged with uncertainty. Sanji’s tone carried genuine concern as he scolded, “Don’t do that again, moss head.” Surprisingly, it became apparent that the devastating attack had somehow missed Zoro and struck Saitama without causing any harm. “Sorry for being late.” Saitama said and moved towards Tashigi. “Are you okay?” He crouched beside her, “You look like you took a hit.” Tashigi lay weakly on the ground and shook her head. “There’s nothing to worry about, thanks to them I’m still alive.” Then, like a weight lifted off her chest, she began to cry. Saitama gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder and said, “I told you they’re good guys.” With a deep breath, Tashigi wiped away her tears and admitted, “Yes, you were right.” She reclined on the ground, clearly fatigued. “Now that you’re here, I can finally rest for a bit...” Her gaze returned to the city. “Saitama-san, there are still more out there! Please, end this for all.” Saitama nodded firmly, “Stay here!” Getting to his feet, he quickly surveyed the situation, but what he saw was unsettling. All the monsters had inexplicably abandoned their previous targets and were now converging aggressively upon him. “They really want trouble! Fine, I’ll end this fast.” he thought as he prepared his right hand for a punch. From the hidden alley, Scholar’s eyes sparkled as he snapped his fingers. In an instant, a blinding white light descended from the sky. The surrounding space seemed to shift and expand, and then... Right in the center of the battlefield, another five hundred monsters appeared! A grave expression settled on Scholar’s face as he came to terms with the potential consequences of using his unique ability in this way. Scholar’s Devil Fruit power allowed him to create objects from images he touched and mentally control them. However, there were limitations: his summoning abilities were restricted to monsters and natural phenomena; he couldn’t summon people. Moreover, the size, strength, and number of the creatures he summoned directly sapped his own power, and the longer they persisted, the more it drained him, leaving him vulnerable. Exhausted from the significant energy drain of summoning an additional horde of monsters, it took just a second for Saitama to finish them off inadvertently. As he launched his attack on the monsters that had been summoned from the beginning, the Second wave found themselves in the line of fire, abruptly ending their adventure before it had even started. Saitama scratched his head, puzzled. “Huh? Why is there so much blood from just a few monsters?” Meanwhile, Scholar was thoroughly perplexed. “What...?! Where did they go? I’m certain I summoned more beasts!” It wasn’t until drops of blood splattered on his head that he looked up, slowly comprehending the grim reality. An expression of realization crossed Scholar’s face, and he muttered, “Oh, son of a...” Then a wry smile appearing on his face as if he had reluctantly accepted a challenge. “I really didn’t want to use it, but it seems I have no choice now!” Taking a deep breath, Scholar’s face grew serious. He tossed aside his book and picked up another one, carefully opening it. “Legend has it... A thousand years ago... An ancient colossal elephant committed a crime and was sentenced to wander the seas for eternity. Let’s see how you handle this! Vice Admiral!” Despite his rank and power, Scholar spoke softly and then exclaimed, “Descend — Zunesha!” Suddenly, lightning streaked across the sky, followed by the rumble of thunder. The activation of this power was unlike anything they had witnessed before, relentless waves crashing upon the heart of Water 7, much like an approaching storm. In a play of light and shadow, a massive creature appeared in front of the city. Its four enormous legs resembled massive pillars as it strode purposefully through the surging waves. Panic spread throughout the city. This was not merely a monster problem; a colossal threat was approaching, and the people reacted with shock. “What is that!?” “Monster!... Monster!” “Oh my God! What’s happening here!?” “...” ————————— Desperation gripped the people, leaving them paralyzed. Faced with creatures of such immense magnitude, fleeing appeared futile; there was nowhere safe left to run. Everyone seemed destined for a grim fate! “Where did this come from...” Saitama raised his eyes, locked onto the towering behemoth that seemed to reach the skies. He prepared himself for what he believed would be a straightforward victory with his usual move. But what unfolded next was utterly unexpected. The gigantic elephant, as if it had suddenly realized its intrusion into the city, abruptly changed course and began to move away. A genuine look of confusion washed over Saitama’s face. Scholar himself couldn’t believe his eyes as he witnessed this unexpected turn of events. “Wait Wait! where are you going?!! Tsk did that really just happen?! Well, I guess it’s time to consider plan B... CP9,” he muttered. —————————————————————— Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great time reading this chapter!
