Chapter 6: Fleeting Sword Sect
"Young man, I also happened to overhear that you are looking to enter a Sect. Do you already have a Sect in mind?" Senior Wu asked Su Yang.
Su Yang turned to look at his father and asked, "Do you?"
Su Qiao cleared his throat and spoke, "I don't mean to brag, but I believe my son is gifted with the sword, so I planned on sending him to the Fleeting Sword Sect. It's also the closest to home."
A bright smile appeared on Senior Wu's face upon hearing this information, and he quickly said, "This must be fate. I happen to have a humble position within the Sect as an Elder. If you wish, I can bring you to the Sect today and make you a disciple. What do you say, young man?"
The people in the store immediately started an uproar after hearing Senior Wu's words. The Fleeting Sword Sect was one of the most reputable Sects in their area, known for giving birth to many prominent Swordmasters.
"An Elder from the Fleeting Sword Sect is personally recruiting him? How lucky!" The source of this content nov(el)bi((n))
"I'm not surprised, considering that he has a large-size Dantian."
"Just because one has a large-size Dantian doesn't make them a talented cultivator. It just means they have a larger Profound Qi storage. The only thing that truly matters is his innate talent."
"Who is that young man with the mask? Why is he wearing a mask in the first place?"
"Isn't that Su Yang? I thought he wanted to become a scholar, though."
Everyone there anticipated Su Yang would immediately accept Senior Wu's offer. However, to their absolute shock, Su Yang shook his head and refused, "I'm sorry, Senior, but this is too sudden. I'd like some time to prepare before I join the Sect."
"Su Yang! This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer! You should just go with this Senior!" Su Qiao immediately tried to change his mind.
Su Yang looked at him and asked, "What about mother? I cannot leave without talking to her first."
Senior Wu silently caressed his long beard and smiled inwardly, 'I wouldn't be so sure about that...'
Meanwhile, Su Yang and Su Qiao quickly left the Martial Manor when the other guests in the store stormed them.
"Su Yang, is that really you?! Are you going to become a cultivator?!"
"Don't forget about me when you make it big at the Fleeting Sword Sect!"
After they escaped from the Martial Manor with considerable difficulty, Su Yang and Su Qiao returned home, recounting the entire day's harrowing ordeal to Su Lin.
Su Lin's face was filled with shock from beginning to end. Even though she knew that Su Yang would eventually become a cultivator, she couldn't have predicted that day would come so soon.
"So you'll be leaving for the Fleeting Sword Sect in two months?" Su Lin asked for confirmation.
"No, he'll be leaving next month since it will take about a month to get to the Fleeting Sword Sect even if he went on a horse." Su Qiao clarified.
"Don't worry, Mother. I will visit the family as often as possible." Su Yang said in a reassuring tone.
"I'm not concerned about whether you'll visit us or not. I'm worried about your well-being. Being a disciple of any Sect is perilous. I've heard it's common for disciples to engage in conflicts among themselves," Su Lin sighed.
"Mother, I promise to stay out of trouble and not stick my nose into others' business." Su Yang swore.
"It's not you that I am worried about. You've been picked on by others even as a child because of your appearance... An envious adult is much fiercer and frightening compared to a child."
Su Yang has been a victim of bullying because of his handsome face ever since he was young, so it was only natural for Su Lin to worry about his well-being inside the Sect, where he'll be alone and surrounded by powerful cultivators who can kill him with ease.
