“I think that is more than enough. Is that any way to dance with another man’s future wife?”

The two dancers turned to the side to see Cipher standing there and Miss Kim jumped away from Han like she had been burned! She swallowed nervously and turned to leave. Cipher caught her hand and she stopped. His grip was like metal.

Cipher looked down at his hand before turning his gaze back towards Han. Did this man wish to court death? He narrowed his eyes as his entire body tensed for what was about to go down.

Miss Kim was not going to let this go beyond this much. Han did not know who this man was! He would kill Han without even a second thought!

Cipher was already ready to kill Han. Did he think money was the secret to power? He would delude him of his fantasies. But his boss suddenly spoke.

Cipher immediately let Miss Kim go and Han retracted his hand. He looked towards Mr. Huo Ren and nodded his thanks before turning and leaving. Cipher squeezed his palms angrily. This was the first time he ever felt so angry. Never before had he allowed his emotions to cloud his judgment, but this time he faltered. He raised the suit to reveal a large red bruise on his forearm.

‘He actually injured me? No one has ever injured me before. This man, he is dangerous. I cannot let him go scot-free,’

Han was pissed with himself. How could he let his anger control him like that!? He almost injured that man in front of everyone! It was well known that Cipher was the guard dog of the Ren family. If anyone tried to make trouble for them then Cipher would simply make that person disappear.

Right now Han needed to be getting on the good side of Huo Ren. Injuring Cipher would only make that harder!

‘But that Cipher is strong. I almost used my full strength on him and he didn’t even flinch. If he was in the apocalypse, I wonder how far he would go,’

Han shook his head of such thoughts and went back to simply observing the guests in the room. The party lasted for a long time, well into the night but Han didn’t wait for the party to end before he moved up to the head table and greeted the Ren family together.

He bullshitted his way through the entire thing and luckily was able to get a meeting with Fen Ren tomorrow. He made sure he said it in front of his father so he wouldn’t be able to refuse. It was obvious Huo Ren was the one actually controlling everything and as long as Huo Ren was interested in him, Fen Ren had no way to go against him.

Han walked out of the party hall with his mind still on Miss Kim. Why would she suddenly be engaged to this man? What was the purpose of pushing something on two people who obviously didn’t want it?

The answer was so obvious it hit Han like a pile of bricks.

They were just below the Ren family that controlled the commercial industry. The Ren family, in turn, were below the largest family that took charge of the oil and power sector. If the Park and Ren families were this desperate to join their powers together then it was obvious Hou Ren was tired of being second best. He was selling off his son and buying Miss Kim all for the sake of increasing his influence in the city. Or at least Han hoped that was the case.

Han was disgusted by this. He was so angry that he didn’t even know when he bumped into someone. Rin Woo stumbled back before a hand grabbed her by the waist and helped her steady.

“Sorry about that. My mind was on something else. Did you want to talk to me about something?”

“I-I just wanted to thank you for the dance earlier. I was wondering if you had any free time to grab a drink with me?”

Han tilted his head to one side. Was she trying to flirt with him? This was the first time he experienced something like this. He thought she would have hated him now that she knew who he was.
