After everything that Han said, the only thing that Balance could do was sigh as she finally sat back on the bed. The world around them changed back to the white room and she pulled her legs up to her chest as she spoke.
“Leave then, there’s nothing more I can do for you. You’ve passed the test”
Han was surprised. What? Was she not going to try and talk him out of it at least? He expected her to at least give him one more scolding but she was just letting him go?
Balance knew that nothing she says will change Han’s mind so she didn’t bother to try and convince him anymore. It was better to let him experience it on his own. She was also curious if this silly man can change the world. She wanted to see how Han would change things in the future. Now she understood why the Watcher has been interested in watching Han all this time, he is unbelievably interesting.
“I don’t know if you can do it. But if you go out there and you’re truly suffering, then come back to me. You seem like someone I can fall in love with if I try, so don’t suffer alone.”
Balance said this with a smile and she went back to lying on the bed. Han nodded to her. He was sure that they would meet again, but for now, Han needed to keep going! Han saw a portal open on the wall at the side and he just walked up to it and crossed over.
The Royals.
The Lords.
The Subjects.
The Royals were the family that ruled over the thinkers. They had the most brilliant minds out of all the Thinkers and they are responsible for improving the city and developing the living conditions of the subjects.
The Lords are the five families directly under the royals. They are also responsible for taking care of the city. But their main job was to take care of the financial and economic livelihood of the citizens under them. Paladin was a member of one of these five families. He led a family of Lords and he had his territory that he looked over. Even though he hasn’t been to his territory in hundreds of years, he wasn’t worried about his territory. No one will dare to try and take it from him because they were all frightened of the connections he had with the creator. And he was sure that his subjects are smart enough to take care of themselves even without him being there to hold their hands.
The last rank of the Thinkers were the Subjects. This is where the guards and other regular citizens come from. The subjects were not always the smartest and even though they are still competent, they are not able to hold a candle to the royals or lords.
The guard at the gate looked at Paladin with an impassive stare before he brought out a ball and held it in front of Paladin. The reason he did this was because of how popular Paladin was. Paladin was very well known around the Celestial Plane and it will not be a surprise if someone tried to imitate his appearance to try and get into the city. They have had so many impersonators that tried to steal their inventions by impersonating Paladind’s appearance and they cannot allow anyone in without taking a test to make sure that person is who they say they are.
Paladin touched the ball and it lit up with a green light. This was another thing that Paladin invented. A ball that took a small sample of your celestial essence, and if you are not using any skill to try and hide your appearance it will turn green. If you are using any skill to hide your appearance then it will turn red. Paladin created this as a toy when he was still very young and he decided to give it to the city to raise his prestige. They all hailed it as his most amazing invention, but they didn’t know that it was just a child’s toy. He had a much better one he was using at his lab and this small thing isn’t even worth much to him anymore.
Once the ball lit up with a green light, the guard brightened up in glee and immediately welcomed Paladin respectfully! They all had high regard for Paladin and they were now respectful since they were sure that he was the real deal! Paladin only nodded to them as he flew into the city, Paladin looked around him and he saw that the city was exactly the same as it was a hundred years ago when he left. He couldn’t believe that these idiots didn’t even bother to improve on anything while he was gone. Are they all waiting for him to come and give them another invention? How can they call themselves the Thinkers when they do even think for themselves?
