45 Chef Qin Yichen

In the Principal’s office,

Rong Yue greeted him politely as she sat down opposite him, it was casual and yet still not rude or offensive. Like she was here to be counseled by him.

“Do you not like the study sessions?” Principal Huang asked her concerned. Teacher Lu attended to the senior students more and had told him about her matter, he roughly understood that she could be missing this because she had to earn survival capital.

“Hmmm, yes I don’t like it. I’m someone that prefers to read in solitude and away from other people. More importantly, my mother and I have just moved into a new place and I think it would be inappropriate if she stayed alone till evening everyday.” She explained laying all the cards on the table.

The principal was surprised that this was her reason but still probed further.

“Are you doing work shifts for money?” He asked, to others, it might seem intrusive but every student of City A high school understood this man’s story.

He was a poor student from the rural area with no parents and even though at this point of his life, he was not at the peak, he had been able to change his fate completely by hardwork.

Principal Huang was afraid that for a girl like her, it would be hard to climb up and take up all those struggling and hard work that he had to take on.

“No, I used to work at some flower store, but recently, I discovered that I could sell my paintings for money at the art association and I have been doing that for like two weeks now.” She said simply.

.....

She had no reason to tell him, yet, humans were always going to be human and in front of the empathetic human that genuinely cared about how she was doing, Rong Yue couldn’t help but tell him.”

As a literary man also, Principal Huang was well aware of how rewarding things like that could be, as long as she could make the cut to pass and let her work be accepted, she would make enough money for her and her mother to survive.

He was even more impressed by her resourcefulness.

“Good... good... one cannot wait to see what the world has in store and must rather fight for what they want out of life.”

“Okay since you don’t need me to chip in help, then I would have to trouble you with some favor.” He said as an helpless expression crossed his face.

Rong Yue nodded for him to continue obediently giving the man an illusion that she was very obedient and proper.

“You see, the school just managed to qualify for one of the spots of schools that would go for the annual APex competition and award and like you know, the requirements are quite high...”

Even though she already knew all about the competition, she still listened to him dutifully and nodded when she could.

“Although you and Wu Hao would be the best candidates, you are still quite a large mile away from him. So I would like to ask that you put it more effort to study for this, after all, our school’s reputation is built on our academic standards also. If we miss this one, we would really have nothing over the rival school anymore.”

There were two main high schools in City A and they were always at a tooth to neck battle on who was the best among them.

Now that in the last competition, City A high school had a lesser ranking than the private school, they surely were suffering and getting lesser students than the private school.

Even if he didn’t explain that much, she could already understand.

“Mmmm, I’ll study hard and also prepare study notes for the next year students.” She said generously making the man beam excitedly.

“You don’t have to come to study sessions, just study at home where it’s better for you. You can also try to study with Wu Hao, that boy..... he has a good heart but a tough life....”

Rong Yue frowned as she tried to wonder what was wrong with him, last she remembered, their family was one of the top family in this city right?

The principal discussed with her on some more issue before allowing her to leave reluctantly.

“Tell Mr Tang to come inside next.” He said as she opened the door to leave.

“Mr Tang, the principal asked that you come inside.” The man that was already impatient from waiting as the secretary was not even willing to make small talk was immediately energized when she came outside.

He hurriedly entered the office while Rong Yue thanked the secretary before leaving the administrative building. There was no need waiting for some annoying scum when the principal already told her she could go back home.

While she was handling matters, a certain young master had removed the expensive suit he traveled in to wear simple house clothes.

“Go to the traditional market and get me better vegetables. These ones won’t do.” Qin Yichen said with a frown crossing those perfect features of his face.

The little girl didn’t enjoy eating vegetables so much and only barely managed to eat the fresh ones from her mother’s garden.

How would she see these ones that looked like they had stayed too long in the supermarket.

Lu San nodded obediently while his thoughts were jumbled.

Even if his master was suddenly interested in eating, did he have to become so picky so suddenly! He grumbled in his heart as he went to the nearest traditional markets.

Luckily, he had followed Rong Yue around recently and was quite in the know of these places.

Although markets like this were usually better in the morning since they brought their things from the village, going by this time still had better things than what he had bought previously from the supermarket.

After getting everything on his young master’s list, he rushed back home again.

“Are these one okay?”

Qin Yichen looked up from the roasted pork and chicken he was doing to check the new vegetables.

“Hmmm, they are better. You can go, I’ll do the cooking alone.”

Even though he had run around all day, from the fragrance and sight of what he had seen in the kitchen just now, Lu San felt like it was really worth it.

Who would have known that the second Young master could cook this good!
