58 School Weirdo

Since it was a short break, the bell signifying the end rang soon enough and Sun Li went back to her seat while Rong Yue tore a sheet from her note and scribbled something on it before putting it on the desk beside her.

Just like she had guessed, some minutes to the time the class teacher entered, a tall figure appeared by the class door way and headed to the back of the classroom.

Unlike everyone that were dressed in their school uniform, Song Jian was dressed in plain pants and a black hoodie that was covering his entire head.

The moment he got to the front of his seat and saw there was someone sitting there, he took a double take before finally sitting down.

His first action was to look at the sheet of paper that was pasted to his table.

“Hello,

I will be sitting here from now on and while I don’t intend to invade your privacy, I’ll appreciate if you don’t invade mine too.”

Rong Yue.

He read the note twice, his attention lingering on the elegant and beautiful handwriting before he looked at part where she asked that he didn’t invade her privacy one more time before he looked at the girl that was seated in beside him and focused on the book that was in front of her.

.....

Eventually, the words he wanted to say left his mind and he went ahead to just pull out his books from his bag also.

Although she acted like she didn’t care about him when he came, Rong Yue had used the little Loli to check his every reaction and when she was finally sure that they were on the same page, she felt her entire body relax and then focused more on the book in front of her before the teacher came.

Since she had just done an exchange of missing study classes for the international competition, she was doing her best to read up on the questions they were going to bring up there.

Very soon the teacher came and during classes, Rong Yue could feel more than one student, including Sun Li and Wu Hao constantly looking back in concern repeatedly.

However, contrary to anything they were imagining, nothing happened the whole day and the two people that were attracting the attention of everyone sat as still as statues the entire time.

The moment classes ended, Song Jian picked up his bag and left the class, while he didn’t seem rushed, Rong Yue noticed that his strides were long and quick like as if he was aiming to cover more distance in a short time.

“Rong Yue, do you have some free time?” Wu Hao asked her as soon as classes finally ended for the day.

Rong Yue glanced at her watch and then back at her friend that seemed like he had something really urgent to do and nodded.

“I have some spare ten minutes after which I have to be on my way back home because I have some matters to attend to.”

“Okay, let me walk you to the gate.”

The both of them left the class after Rong Yue waved at Sun Li who looked like a pet that had been left behind by her master.

“Song Jian can be very dangerous and unstable, perhaps, you can move over to my seat while I move back there for you if it makes you comfortable. I can also move beside Tong Yang if you don’t mind.” Wu Hao started and then looked at her face to be sure that he hadn’t said anything she didn’t like.

“Don’t worry about him, I already left him a note to explain matters already and I don’t think he would be any trouble to me. Besides, if we had to fight, I’ll have better chances at you.” She added the last part jokingly and Wu Hao flushed as he looked at her petite frame.

“I..I.. actually do spend time in the gym, it’s just hard to notice under my school uniform.” He explained stuttering a little and Rong Yue had to resist the urge to

Laugh out loud at his expense.

“I saw it the other day when you were dressed up at the party.”

“Oh!”

After that, an awkward silence where the both of them felt like there was nothing to say anymore happened until Wu Hao summoned the courage to say what he wanted to say.

“That day, y..you...you.. looked very beautiful.” Wu Hao said and he turned his face sway afraid that she would see how shy he was feeling.

“Thank you.” Rong Yue replied while she looked at the young boy that was hiding his face away thoughtfully.

“Wu Hao, is there something you are not telling me? You seem to be acting weird. Also, you said you had some matter to discuss, but you don’t seem to be saying anything.”

After practicing more than ten times, Wu Hao had felt that him confessing his feelings to Rong Yue would be easy. After all, he had been determined to keep his feelings up until after they were done with school. Unfortunately, seeing the way his stepbrother had been asking around about her and how many of the boys in his circle all seemed interested in her on Saturday.

He had told himself this was something he had to do very quickly.

More importantly, he wanted to try and protect. After all, he knew what the men in his circle where like and he was scared that they will ruin someone that is as perfect as Rong Yue in their dark and cruel world.

“Wu Hao?” Rong Yue called out again, this time, she stepped in front of him, more certain that there was something wrong with him.

“I.. I.. the principal told me we were attending some competition together... t..the one for the global college talent... I wanted to ask when we could start studying together.” He managed to say and his shoulders slumped with relief and partly a bit of disappointment.

How could he claim that he could save her when he couldn’t even tell her how he felt about her.

Rong Yue squinted her eyes, looking at him more carefully but after a while of not being able to tell what was wrong, she nodded her head.

“Hmmm, I’ll prepare the curriculum and we can discuss what schedule would work for the both of us tomorrow.”

“If that’s everything, I will be going ahead first.” She said as she waved at him once and then jogged quickly to catch up with the bus.

She had recently entered some competition where they would allow her into some community of the most skilled and discreet hackers and web talents if she passed.

The problem for Rong Yue was not even the difficulty but rather the fear that she wouldn’t have enough time to participate in the sprints that was required of them to do.

At this time when the whole revolution was still happening in closed groups, it would be beneficial for her if she could have a group of people that were skilled in her network.

Before long she had boarded the bus and she allowed herself to replay the scene with Wu Hao just now.

Since the boy had helped her when she was trying to get rid of Tong Yang, Rong Yue had a favorable expression of him.

More importantly, she already considered him a friend and definitely wouldn’t want to watch anything happen to him.

Yet, the more she thought, the more it seemed like he had been trying to tell her something but was scared about it.

‘Is he having some troubles at home?’ She muttered and then issued a command for Little Loli to check what the Wu Family internal affairs was like.

????????

As soon as she got home, Rong Yue rushed inside her room after only a brief meeting with her mom.

It was currently a little past four and the live streaming hacking competition was going to start by 4:30pm in the afternoon.

Because of the time differences, they had picked a time that could work for almost all the regions without it being at the time when anyone needed to be at work.

For Rong Yue that was in China, there were also about four more people out of the fifteen competing from China making it easy for their time to be considered as priority.

She hurriedly set up her computer and keyboard to be sure that everything was in the way she wanted it to be before logging into the forum.

As soon as she logged in a lot of the officials immediately marked her attendance and did a few minutes of briefing.

“The first qualification is to be able to pass through the firewall that would allow you to access the testing phase. As soon as you are inside, you can begin the test. The first thing important thing is timing. Whoever breaks through first and get all the tests done would be the eventual winner. After that. We would carefully look through all your techniques to be sure there was no leak before hand.”

After explaining all the basics to them more than once and checking that all the competitors were already logged in, the timer was activated and the competition immediately started.

“For effective monitoring, we would appreciate that the camera for everyone is turned on.” The supervisors announced and Rong Yue who had hurriedly sat down for her testing shot up from her seat.

To be discreet and also avoid drama, she had signed up as a boy!
