74 Find Her A Partner
Rong Yue felt like coughing blood as she heard his words. Her man? However, the certainty and confidence he had said it left her unable to refute. Instead of talking, she turned away from him as she watched the non existent scenery outside.
“Where are we going?” Rong Yue asked after a long winding silence the moment she noticed that the car turned in a totally different direction from the route home.
“I need you to see something.” Qin Yichen said mysteriously and Rong Yue brows arched up in suspicion. After what he had just said, her whole mind didn’t trust that he would pull a surprise that would send her off balance.
Just as she was about to talk, the car came to a stop making her look out. “Come down, we are here already.” Qin Yichen said getting down by himself while the driver opened the door for Rong Yue.
The stark difference between the light through the tinted windows of the car and being in plain light made Rong Yue squint her eyes as she took in the building in front of her. It was a remote street and they were currently parked in front of a traditional building. It looked exactly like the buildings of ancient China that would come with a courtyard.
Qin Yichen said nothing as she walked into the building, giving her no choice than to enter. Instead of the typical modern doors, the door to this building was wooden and ancient, giving her a feeling of someone that was going back in time.
However, she noticed that the door also felt new, like it had not been used for long. Rong Yue had questions, but she also had patience. As soon as the doors opened, the strong fragrance of good blew in their faces making Rong Yue’s face light up.
“Who are we here to see?” she asked without thinking as she wondered if she was going to get food to eat. “Not who, what.”
“Come, this is a restaurant, not the typical one as there would be qualifications to eat here, you can decide that later on, the important thing is to let me know what you think about the food.” Qin Yichen explained.
.....
“Boss.” A woman that looked like she was in her late forties came out from one of the doors that was connected to the empty room space they were in.
“Are the meals ready?”
“Yes, we have prepared one of the rooms for the tasting.” as she talked, she turned and signified that they could follow her. Qin Yichen held Rong Yue’s hand and followed her. Rong Yue looked up at him in confusion but said nothing since she was around someone.
The moment they stepped into one of the rooms, Rong Yue felt a certain calm on her mind and body which made her look around carefully. “We had some master aromatherapists to help us with the oils. It calms the body and has been said to have some effect with digestion if a person inhales it for slightly more than an hour. However, with the quantity used in each room, it would not be having that elevated effect.” the woman leading the way explained and Rong Yue nodded in understanding. She also kept it at the back of her mind to ask her mother once she got home.
The room was box shaped and had a large table in the middle with a joined long sofa circling around it. From one glance, the quality of the sofa was easy to see and the colour was also very suited to the brown and white theme of the whole building.
“What’s going on?” Rong Yue finally asked as they sat down and the woman left the room. Even with a table full of food, Qin Yichen knew that if he didn’t give her the answer she wanted, she would probably not even eat the meals.
“I gave them some of my recipes to develop so that you can eat it anytime I’m away.” he started surprising Rong Yue.
“Are you serious? Why?”
“Didn’t you like it so much? Every time you said I could start a career out of it.. So this restaurant would also sell their cooking, however, we would open this first and test the market.” he explained further. Yet, Rong Yue was still confused.
He had paid her a lot of money already for saving it, it was good that it was a business but his first statement already had her muddled. She wanted to ask why he always seemed to be treating her extra well. Like sending ten times the money she requested and rushing down to save her from someone even he considered a threat.
“Are you about to devote your life to me?” Qin Yichen asked with a smirk as he saw the confused and touched look on her face. His words were, however, enough to break Rong Yue out of her trance as she glared at him angrily.
“You still have some loose screws after all.” she murmured as she opened one of the dishes.
Qin Yichen watched her, with deep doting as she opened all the dishes with eyes shining brightly. What he didn’t mention was that the entire restaurant was built in her name.
After all, he knew that if she knew, she would refute immediately. He also had no reasonable explanations other than that deep yearning to dote on her till the end of the world.
After an hour of eating without interruption, Rong Yue finally leaned backwards and rested her back. She pulled the shirt of her school out from the skirt to make herself a lot more comfortable. the whole time, she had acted like Qin Yichen wasn’t there while enjoying her meal. Now that she looked up, she realised he hadn’t eaten anything the whole time.
“Why didn’t you eat?” she asked suspiciously, although she didn’t wholly trust him, she knew he couldn’t play any foul play like poisoning her.
“In case you decide to be dishonest, I have to see your every expression.”
“How was it?”
Rong Yue leaned forward and drank some water before talking. “The burst of flavour is perfect. Although there’s still quite the difference from your own cooking, it’s also a close call.” she said honestly as she thought back to how each dish had tasted.
“The soups have their own signature taste, although I feel like I can feel your influence on it, but it has been greatly modified....” like that, she broke down all that she had noticed about the food to him and Qin Yichen nodded, taking note of what she had to say about each meal. When she was done, he called the woman and gave her the things he felt needed some changes.
“You can pack all the remaining and this for us as takeouts.” For someone like him that would probably not care if he didn’t have his first meal up until evening, he paid a lot of attention to Rong Yue and had noticed her unwillingness to drop the remaining dishes.
After getting the takeouts, the both of them left the restaurant.
“I’ll bring you back once they complete the designs and decoration.” he promised as he used his free hand to rub her head.
Rong Yue glared at him but said nothing. From earlier this morning in school, she had been thinking of something that her mother could do, after all, now, she didn’t necessarily need it to rake in profits as her priority was keeping her mother occupied.
Also, she was getting to the point where she was going to start building her own businesses after all her exams and competition was done, it was going to take up a lot of her time and she wanted her mother settled before then.
Up until they got home, she remained lost in thought to the point where Qin Yichen had to pull on her arms to let her realise that they had gotten home.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked curiously as he carried her backpack and the takeouts.
“I’m trying to see something that can occupy my mother’s attention, she’s starting to get tired of staying at home alone all day.” she blurted without thinking and only realised after.
“Forget I said anything, I’ll think of something all by myself.” she said immediately as she hurried her steps. Unlike when she had just moved in, there were now about two more families here, however, they were all private people that didn’t care about anything and so, the both of them didn’t have the attitude of someone that wasn’t alone.
“I think it’s quite simple, her methods and herbal mixtures and tinctures are really unique. You just have to find a way to sell the things she produces on a large scale while still keeping the active and important part of her recipes private.” Qin Yichen said lazily and then waited for her to press the elevator button.
“And you think I haven’t thought of that?” Rong Yue asked with an eye roll. “The whole process is going to be too much for her to handle.” she added with a sigh.
“Then find her a partner.”
