Chapter 11: The First Adventure in a Battlefield Part IV
“Hell yeah. Let’s go!”
After that, they launched forward, hastily running to the brown dog army, in front of the other players’ wide shocked eyes. Who would have thought that the two would be crazy enough to fight this massive number of monsters like this? Even some level 40 players would choose to run, too. They would get knocked down by just two bites, not even having the chance to fight back!
It was like the moment before the two people and the troop of Brown howns encountered each other became slow motion in the witnesses' eyes.
KA-BLAM!!
The first encounter was when Wisana used his passive weapon called his foot, front kicking an unfortunate doggo, turning it into dust right away. Maysa started firing the pistols in her hands nonstop, countless bullet cartridges falling on the ground, the gun smoke floating.
“They are so many!” Wisana shouted, dodging the monster’s attack. After that he smashed its neck with a ridgehand, sending it to the ground.
“If you still have time to complain, you should go kill some more, ouch!”
“May!”
“I’m fine! Just a scratch.” Maysa said then shot the dog that just attacked her.
The war between two players and the dogs from the whole jungle kept going on intensely. Wisana continued with his dodge and hit combo to eliminate 8 doggies, so far. And with his sharp, agile moves, none of them could make a scratch on him, yet.
Maysa was doing fine, too. She tried not to get surrounded by keeping the distance from the enemies as she shot them down one by one. And if anyone dared to leap at her, Maysa would just use agility to dodge them before she aimed the barrel at the closest one to blow them off. Up until now she had already killed 15 dogs.
“How’s it going, Wisana?!” She shouted, shooting down another one.
“Fine!” The other replied, jumping on a brown hown as he evaded another attack.
“They are too many, and my bullets are running short.” Maysa said, sounding worried.
“What?! I thought you already bought a lot of it?!”
“I did! I'm talking about bullets in the magazine. It'll take three seconds to reload.” She finished as she pulled the trigger to kill the two wild dogs that jumped at her. Wisana spin-kicked at a dog with some of his taekwondo moves before he could answer,
“You can take your time to reload! Get out of here. I can handle this for seconds that you’re gone!”
“No!” Maysa raised her voice to reject, blending down to evade the monster leaping at her in the nick of time.
“Why?!” The guy yelled back, moodily because he almost got crushed by the monster as well.
“I have a better plan.”
“A plan? Please, say it- ...You jerk! Get away from me!!” The hoarse voice shouted after he dodged away from the two doggies that came at him at the same time, letting them crash into each other and fall to the ground.
“Can you give me one minute?!” A simple favor made Wisana’s eyes bulge. n//O.-v()ε/.l/-b-/1((n
“What?!” He shouted again after he found his voice. “You want me to push up with them for a whole minute? Just ask me to die, May. That’d be so much easier!”
“There’s no other option, Wisana. If you can give me a minute, I can guarantee that we win. And if you’re down, I promise I'll revive you later, so you don’t have to worry. However, if I'm the one who is down, I can guarantee you too that we’re so dead!”
He paused for a second after listening to her explanation. The taller guy then turned and started running off with dozens of brown hown chasing after him. More monsters changed their target to him instead as Maysa took steps back from the area.
“They are too many! I’m not sure if I can keep evading them!!”
“It’s okay! I am!!” She finished speaking with a splendid smile, making the guy blink. He let out a sigh then he smirked in return.
“Yeah, girl, whatever. Just do what you have to do.”
“Good!” Maysa said, firing the last bullet on the dog before she could retreat from the monster’s range completely. She hopped on a tall tree just to make sure that she was safe from a surprise attack.
The round grey eyes glanced at the enemies beneath, mouth whispering two words softly.
“Eagle eye.”
Eagle eye was a talent of the ranged classes. It was used to find a weak spot of the target and to increase the accuracy of the player’s attack. Additionally, it had a bluff for the player’s eyes to be able to see 0.05 seconds slower.
The second later, her pupils shrank and squeezed into the shape of an eagle’s.
“52 no, 64. “
Maysa could count all the enemies very quickly due to the bluff she was having from the skill. And for that reason, she could make decisions faster as well. Her long fingers were holding tightly on her favorite weapons, aiming down to the battleground below. Then she whispered.
“Rainy shot.”
Rainy shot was a skill of ranged classes. It could attack multiple targets at the same time, with the attack point averaged with the number of the targets. 1 shot took 1 minute to charge, no shooting delay, the skill could be held.
In the blink of an eye, a beam of light appeared at the end of the barrels. The pretty face was calm like she had nothing to worry about, but the eyes looked at Wisana were showing concern for the man, clearly.
However, the longer she glanced, the more she started to change her mind.
“This guy...” A sweet voice slipped out of her mouth.
The said guy, targeted by a group of feral dogs, was smiling out of fun and excitement. This sight of him made her surprised. And importantly, until then he was still untouched by those monsters.
Was it because of his martial art skills, or was it because of his excellent reflexes?
This has gone beyond the human reflex already!
“Whoa, whoa, that was close.” And again, he was showing off his genius by dodging with non-human-like moves, making Maysa’s brows raise.
“So cool!”
That was not from her, but one of the players who was observing from afar.
“Great. How did he juke that? The guy’s slick like butter.”
“Don’t get hit, bro. You're so awesome.”
“It’s like a matador dodging bulls.”
Maysa grinned when she heard the compliments, coming nonstop from the observers. Even though they were not talking about her, she just felt glad because she was not wrong about his capabilities.
“Not just a hidden gem, but he’s totally a diamond, huh?” Maysa said, smiling.
The time was about to be up to one minute, but Wisana was getting more and more into it. He was having fun. However, he would not be able to push up with this any longer since 64 Brown howns were agreed to gang up on him at the same time. He was surrounded and losing, and that was why he needed to stay focused. Because if he messed it up, he would be dead for sure.
Then, the struggling was over.
It was one minute already!
“Wisana, don’t move!” Maysa shouted out loud as she jumped up. Her slim figure was floating in the air, her hands aiming the guns toward the center of the battlefield.
“Rainy shot!”
Half a second later, beams of blue light were fired from her pistols. The beams conjoined together, forming a glowing ball for a short while. Then, it separated into 64 beams, striking down every Brown hown on the ground!
“Hey!” Wisana cried out before squeezing his eyes shut. He tried to stay still as much as possible at the same time that the blue light beams were piercing through these brown dogs with a devastatingly loud noise.
BOOM!!!
And the war ended with dust and smoke pervading all around the area and on Wisana He was shabbily standing still, eyes squeezed shut, arms held up to protect over his head with the fear of the light beams, too. When everything went quiet around him, he tried to open his eyes again.
“Whoa, that was awesome!” Wisana shouted in surprise when he saw those Brown howns all turn into dust and begin to fade away, leaving just mountains of items on the ground.
“Player Wisana has killed 87 Brown howns, earning 6720 EXP plus bonus.”
“Player Wisana is now on level 10.”
After Jinnie’s voice spoke, he let out a sound like ‘Whoa’ and looked around. When he saw the items scattered on the ground, he then understood why he got this many experience points. Suddenly, his legs started to give out, and Wisana fell on his knees to the ground, exhaustedly.
“That’s a lot of levels up, bro.”
When he looked up, he saw his party smiling at him. Wisana yelled.
“How did you do that?! One shot, and eliminated the whole army?”
“Well, it was just my class abilities,” she replied briefly like it was not such a big deal.
“You’re so awesome.”
“No. You're awesome,” she rejected. “How could a newbie deal with more than 60 monsters at once, no, dealing while giggling, even.”
The combo of compliments got Wisana an awkward smile, scratching his cheek.
“I bet in the future your levels will be rapidly upgraded, now, Wisana. Even though the way you farm EXP was a bit crazy, I got to admit that you’ve got such a ball.”
“You, too.” He returned the compliment, smiling. "Even in that kind of situation, you could still come up with a risky plan. I’d have been screwed a long time ago if you weren’t with me.”
The girl smirked when she heard him.
“You know, the plan wouldn’t work, if it wasn’t you, either.”
“Hehe, not really. I'm probably just good at dodging.” Wisana said with a dry laugh, making her sigh, a bit out of annoyance.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Suddenly, there was loud applause, coming from all around the two of them. Dozens of the players were clapping, giving them smiles and proud looks to appreciate their skills. Or, just to appreciate their craziness, because there was no one in their right mind would pull Brown howns from the whole map just to farm like these two did.
Or, just to appreciate the guy named Wisana’s agility.
Or, just to appreciate the girl named Maysa’s creativeness and calmness.
In any case, these two madcaps were getting some reputation!
“Player Wisana earned 15 popularity points.”
“Oh, what was it again?” Wisana asked after Jinnie announced his new points.
“Popularity points. You earn it when you do something for someone to appreciate or recognize you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that they appreciate you for not pulling the brown howns to them, as well as your abilities.”
Hearing that made the guy a bit shocked. But, before he could look at the others, Maysa’s hand was held out for him, pulling him up.
“You’re a hero now, so stop squatting down there. Get up and say hi to them!” Her lively voice brought a smile to Wisana’s handsome face. The tall young man stood up, awkwardly shy while nodding to the applause.
“Alright. Now, let’s pack up, Wisana. We'll be rich as soon as we get back to town.” The one beside him spoke, bringing him back to his senses. The bright brown eyes caught the grey ones before a hoarse voice said with honesty,
“May.”
“Yeah?”
“This Pride game is kind of fun.” His words made the pretty girl chuckle.
“Of course, it is, bro.” She said as she gave him a splendid smile and a sharp glare. “But enough with this madness of farming, please. If we do it too often, I'm afraid that we won’t die of old age.”
