An hour later, Bing-Er arrived at the gate of the House of Prime Minister in a woman's dress. He looked down at his dress and felt a headache coming on. It was difficult for her to wear such complicated dress every day. But she had to wear it! Sigh! She looked around and happened to see a well-dressed man walking out of the gate of the Prime Minister's Estate.
Bing-Er smiled proudly. He knew that man would keep his promise. She raised her arm and waved to the man.
He looked at the man with a smile. "I'm here."
The man paused in his steps. The woman standing outside the gate was pretty and delicate. She had a pair of eyes that could speak, a small, firm nose bridge, and a rosy, alluring mouth. Although she wore a coarse cloth dress, her body still gave off a refined and elegant feeling.
"Are you the friend that cousin knows?" Bing'er saw the man walk out of the manor and greeted him.
The man couldn't help but snort coldly to himself. They could still be considered friends? However, he didn't show it. He just looked at Bing-Er with a cold face, "Where is it?"
Bing-Er didn't answer the man. She walked into the gate first, "Don't worry. After we finish, we will return the token to you. There is no use in taking it. No one dares to take it." Bing-Er muttered as she walked forward.
The man stood still and looked at Bing'er's back, and then followed behind her.
Bing-Er had only walked a few steps before she stopped and waited for the man to catch up with her.
"Why aren't you leaving?" The man didn't even look at Bing'er when he crossed Bing'er.
Bing'er gave the man an awkward smile, "I don't know the way."
The man led Bing-Er forward. Along the way, they passed by gardens, artificial mountains, pavilions, and mansions. It was indeed extraordinary. There were beautiful scenery everywhere that attracted people's imagination. Bing-Er was attracted by the beautiful scene in front of her.
Suddenly, the tip of her nose hurt, almost causing her to cry. She raised her head to look in front of her and angrily questioned.
"Who is so short?" When she looked up, she saw that her nose was pressed against the man's back, which meant that she had hurt the man's nose by hitting him on the back. Therefore, she forcefully swallowed back the words she was about to say. It was she who bumped into the man, it was she herself who committed the crime. Naturally, she was too embarrassed to blame others. Moreover, she had to rely on the man in front of her to enter the Prime Minister's Estate to serve as a maid.
It was only then that she saw that she was surrounded by women in their teens, a large number, if not five hundred, three hundred of them. The women were lined up in two long queues, the two leading women having two tables in front of them, and behind the tables sat two women in their twenties, each of them questioning the woman standing in front of them. Whoosh! Bing-Er sighed. She had never thought that there would be so many people who would come to ask for a job with just a maid from the Prime Minister's Palace.
The man half turned his head and glared at Bing'er out of the corner of his eyes. He then ordered the middle-aged man standing opposite him, "Steward Fan, can I have a word with you?"
Steward Fan quickly replied, "Yes."
Bing-Er didn't know what the man said to Steward Fan, but she could only see him nodding and glancing at her from time to time.
Bing-Er turned around and looked at the ladies around her, praising herself in her heart. Luckily she was smart enough to use that token to threaten the man. Otherwise, it would be too difficult for her to stand out among so many people.
After the man finished talking to Steward Fan, he stood there looking at Bing'er, and Bing'er immediately smiled at him.
Housekeeper Fan bowed to the man, then walked over to the table and announced in a loud voice, "Everyone, please go back today. The Prime Minister's Estate has already found a suitable maid. If there's a chance next time, everyone will come back here as a maid."
The ladies looked at each other, pursed their lips, then reluctantly turned around and left.
Steward Fan walked slowly to Bing'er, "Lady, from now on you are the young maid of the Prime Minister's Estate."
Bing'er hurriedly half-squatted down. "Thank you, Steward Fan."
The man walked over to Bing-Er, coldly looked at her and said, "I have finished helping you. Where are my things?" He held out his hand as he spoke.
"Here." Bing-Er reached into her clothes and took out the token.
"Young master, something bad happened at home." A man dressed in black hastily walked to the side of the man and reported to him.
The man's expression changed and he left without even looking at the token in Bing-Er's hand.
"Hey, here's your token." Bing'er shouted at the man, because he was already far away from her.
The man didn't seem to hear her at all as he rapidly flew down the long corridor without looking back.
Bing-Er was confused. [What is more important than the Token?] Also, that guard, Scroll, called him master. Could it be that the eunuchs in the palace were even more senior than the guards?
"Miss, what's your name?" A woman's voice interrupted Bing-Er's thoughts.
Bing-Er quickly put away the token and looked at the girl in front of her. The girl in front of her was the one who had just sat down at the table and asked for the servant girl.
"My name is Bing-Er." Bing-Er answered the girl in the noble maid uniform with a smile. She must be a level higher than the maid — the head maid.
The head maid looked at Bing-Er expressionlessly, "Bing-Er, come with me." Then she turned and walked away.
Bing'er turned around to look at where the man had disappeared to, and followed the head maid.
The head maid took a few steps forward and glanced at Bing'er, and then said, "Anyone who comes to the house to be a maid, no matter who it is, has to start from the bottom. Do you understand? "
"Understood, understood." Bing'er hurriedly answered the head maid.
The head maid gave a cold snort, "It's good that you know this." "First, you can stay in the backyard and work as a servant girl. If you do well, you will be assigned to other places. You might even be able to serve the madam or the grandpa."
"Yes, yes! Bing-Er will do it well. Don't worry, sister." Bing-Er hurriedly said to the maid in a flattering manner.
Hearing Bing'er call her elder sister, the head maid's lips raised into a faint smile. The little servant girl was quite tactful; she knew how to call her elder sister.
Bing-Er stayed in a shabby room under the arrangement of a maid. The Fang family's security was very simple. There was only a chair and nothing else.
Bing-Er walked to the bed with her bag and put it beside the soft pillow.
The head maid looked at Bing-Er coldly and ordered, "Follow me."
After placing the package beside the soft pillow, he followed the maidservant out of the room.
The head maid led Bing'er to a dilapidated courtyard. In the middle of the courtyard was a well. Next to the well was a large wooden basin filled with all kinds of clothes.
A few bamboo poles in the middle of the courtyard had set up a shelf, and on the shelf were clothes that had previously dripped water.
Bing'er knew that this was the most tiring place for the maidservants. At the place where the maidservants washed their clothes.
The head servant looked at Bing'er coldly, and shouted, "Lian'er, where did you go? Are you being lazy again? " There was a thick sense of dissatisfaction in his tone.
"Sister Fang, I'm here." A young maid who was dressed in a shabby maid attire ran over to the head maidservant, holding onto a piece of clothing that had yet to be tied up. Seeing the young maidservant's unsightly expression, the young maidservant hurriedly explained to the head maidservant, "Sister Fang, Lian'er has just gone to the toilet and hasn't slacked off."
