Chapter 222 - Protect

For a person who is responsible for the death of so many people, his hands were strangely filled with warmth. Of course, King or not - no without this fancy title, he would be the same as any other child out there.

"I promise, I'll find the rest," Lyn mumbled. This healing box only has a temporary effect. Lyn knew that if the King of the Snow Kingdom were to be completely healed, he would need to the other tables. The reason why she was summoned here.

"Please...do not trouble yourself…Princess Lyn, now that we've met I understand. Perhaps it's better if you use it on yourself…"

Lyn shook her head and smiled, "Your majesty you misunderstood me. I do not resent you or the people here; despite everything, there is no resentment. I will do whatever I can to help you."

….

Lyn couldn't make sense of what was happening. The scene of the room became a series of blurred colors.

"Aah!" she screamed.

She could only see Shu's figure in her blurred vision. Lyn couldn't process what was happening other than she was flying through the air. Being pulled out of the current room and moving upwards at a rapid speed. This was a first for her, being lifted in the air.

"Ouch," Lyn landed on the ground, and she glared at the culprit.

"Sorry, please let me protect you for now," Shu said.

"Uh..."

"Your questions hold no meaning," Reiji replied.

Her sweat fell, what is with this sudden monotone? Or rather what is with this person. One second he's angry, and the next it looks like he doesn't have a single care in the world.

"Sorry about this, but that's the way it is," Shu apologized.

"But, Kazuya..." Lyn wanted to say more but fell silent when she glanced at Reiji. The man was giving her the harshest glare ever.

While she was clueless about some things, Lyn knew better than to disobey the six guardians of the Snow Kingdom. That wasn't a law; it was just a natural habit of those who lived there.

"I won't interfere with your daily life...until something happens. Meaning what concerns me is the time when you're alone. If possible, I hope you can refuse even your friends' invitations. Find some reasonable excuse."

"Um...Am I being targeted?"

"I said your question is rejected...never mind."

Shu nodded with a bitter smile. "Yes, you're being targeted. I know you want to know why, and what people have targeted you, but please don't ask."

"...And this is related to Kazuya?"

That was what Shu said in the library before.

Shu is rejecting any questions, and while she wanted to inquire more. Any resident of the Snow Kingdom would listen to him. Any of them would think nothing bad would come out of listening to a Knight. Lyn felt the same. But if this had to do with Kazuya... And that was the only thing she couldn't keep silent about.

Shu's gaze turned intense.

Lyn froze due to the pressure. Why is he so mad?!

"Ah...I told her that," Shu sighed, realizing.

In that split second, they released her. Her body trembled as if her bones were broken. Her legs had lost their strength, and she sat down on the cold ground of the rooftop.

Shu shook his head despite Reiji's glare. "Then I'll tell you this. This is related to Kazuya. You're involved in something that's got nothing to do with you. That's all I can say," Shu commented.

Lyn, however, wasn't having it, "You can't just tell me people are targetting me without explaining why."

"Then let's put it this way, word has spread beyond the Wind, and Mist Kingdom lands about your relationship with Kazuya," Shu explained.

Ah?

"If you were just dealing with bitter and annoying nobles, there would be no need for us to intervene."

"But you're dealing with bloodthirsty enemies."

"Eh, um, so...basically the people Kazuya offended?

Shu grinned, "Bingo!"

"The King asked us to come with you to the Mist Kingdom. Of course, we already have a permit from your brother."

The people Kazuya offended. Lyn knew with the nature of his work, Kazuya has offended a lot of people. But from what these two said, it doesn't appear to be a simple enough grudge. Kazuya, exactly what did he do?

...

After what happened this morning, all Lyn could do was continuously sigh. Since earlier, she has been feeling very strange.

Whatever had happened, the passing of a day had put that event in the past. Time was merciless, but it treated everyone fairly. No matter how astonished and shocked Lyn was, it wasn't possible to reverse the flow of time. Shu and Reiji didn't hesitate and told her straight up, 'The ones who want revenge are the families of the people Kazuya killed.' Lyn knew better than anybody what it meant to kill people. However, it's because she knows.

"He must be in a lot of pain," Lyn mumbled. How much has Kazuya suffered? How many tears has he shed silently?

Her thoughts broke off when she spotted maroon-colored haired leaning on one of the buildings. Ah, it's Kazuya.

"Hey, my Lyn."

Lyn looked him up and down and sighed, "Don't hug me; I'm brooding."

Kazuya laughed, "Did they tell you already?"

"I heard this morning," Lyn murmured. "Tell me, Kazuya, you killed a lot of people?"

"Yeah."

"You're still doing so now?"

"Correct."

"But, you do know I won't hate you because of that right?"

"I know, otherwise I wouldn't have shamelessly asked you to go out with me. I knew you'd accept me regardless of the truth, and I was right. My Lyn, your crying now because I'm in pain?"

Lyn knew she didn't need a mirror to know that she was crying. Kazuya walked over, and soon, she was engulfed in a familiar pair of arms. "Ssh, don't worry. Even if I am in pain, I have you now."

"What does that mean?"

"The pain is now bearable because I have my cute Lyn."

She really wanted to scold him for being an idiot. Because isn't he a fool? How can he still smile and say such nonsense, when he is hurt?

Lyn wanted to ask him more questions. But understood that he wouldn't answer her now.
