"If only all this could go on forever."
The sentence that came out of Lyn's mouth after so long of not speaking surprised him.
Almost subconsciously, Rhys answered as he started to place ingredients into a bowl. The knot in his heart released, or is it because he could no longer see it anymore? Rhys didn't know, but all he knew was he wanted to say something, anything. It took a while, but he finally said her name. "Lyn."
"Hm?"
Before he could say anything, though, he spotted movement within the trees from the window. His gaze dimmed. Tsk. " Lyn, stay here for a bit."
The black-haired girl sighs. " Sometimes it really feels like you take me as an idiot Rhys." Huh? She continues. "..It seems like Shioka is here for a different purpose aside from me today. Perhaps he's going to tell you about that."
Rhys froze, she...has she been meeting with him?
"Leave."
Rhys nodded and made his way out at the back. That expression just now, she...for sure they've definitely been meeting. Damm it. Once Rhys got outside, he made his way to the maze area where there is a large tree hovering over the place. He spotted the person he was looking for. A guy around 180cm tall has honey blonde hair, red eyes, and dons a traditional white kimono with a black and red checkered pattern on the collared part, a yellow and black design, and a gray haori.
"Shioka." Rhys wish he only said the man's name. But of course, it did not end up that way.
A sly smile appears on his face, "I see your greeting is as foul-mouthed as ever Rhys. However, that look in your eyes is still good. You still haven't abandoned it, " he trails off, "Yet, I do wonder why you bother playing Captain with all those foolish people."
"And what about you? Being an abnormal Knight wasn't good enough for you. You just had to become one of those people."
"This is only temporarily. I have no intention of staying on a side that does not uphold the tradition."
You don't have to be a genius to tell that Shioka isn't serious about it. Otherwise, he would have personally come to the front lines already. But that's exactly why Rhys wanted to keep this hidden from Kazuya. " Why then?" he asked. Even though Rhys already knew what the answer would be. That's right; it can only be that matter.
A strong gust of wind blew before them then, "Heh fool. You already know," Shioka's gaze softens briefly, "If it's to help cure that girls boredom, then I'll do anything." In other words, he wants to help Lyn.
"Why did you kill the messenger?"
Even if he is trying to spice things up a bit, killing someone goes over the line.
"I was following orders to do this stuff the way I want. I had to ask assistance from the most annoying person," Shioka's gaze darkened, as he jumped down from the tree. " Beware of her fiance. That man isn't what you all think he is. Playing the sweet and innocent fiance, it makes me sick to the core."
Rhys eyes widened, " What does that…"
"I'll only say this. It's his doing. The second our contract ends with him, then I'm personally thinking of killing him. That man's methods make me sick to the core." Ah...it's that after all. Rhys recalled that time back with Ichinose, he had seen him. Seen the second prince there, "To shaken up? Surely you noticed."
Indeed, even before this, perhaps he had known already. The reason Shioka asked the second prince for support. Is because their goal is the same, to cure Lyn's boredom. To heal the darkness in her heart. But just because their goals are the same doesn't mean their way of doing things - their methods will be the same.
Rhys nodded, " Yeah. The promise aside, was it Kazuya who asked?"
"Who knows? But I'll say this; the bastard's head will be on my blade the second this ends."
"If you do that. I'll have to raise a blade against you Shioka," a feminine voice said. The two of them stop talking only to find the black-haired girl there.
"Oh? That would be a sight to see." Shioka didn't seem threatened, only amused.
Lyn laughs lightly in response. "Though maybe even for me that will be too much."
Rhys watches Shioka come over and pressed their foreheads together, "You're running a fever again woman. You like to overdo things, huh?"
Rhys couldn't help but notice how easily they did it. Lyn's like that he knew, but surely they couldn't have? Unless this is what you call ' natural.' Man just thinking about it was stressing him out to the core.
"I'm fine. It's nothing."
"Hmm. Your stupidity shows up during moments like this. Keep this up, and you'll die."
The black-haired girl shook her head, "I won't until I've fulfilled that promise. My life cannot end. '' He watches as she reached over and placed both her hands on the blondes face, "Your eyes are still like rubies. They don't remind me of blood at all. You too should not soil them that much."
"Strange woman. Having that fetish too."
"Perhaps so."
They really do interact with each other well.
That was the case before too. But seeing it again was sort of envious, especially since Lyn doesn't let him touch her. Heh, is he really getting jealous over this matter? He's become quite pathetic. Besides the one he should be more worried about is Kazuya and the fiance. Yet, perhaps this guy isn't entirely out of the picture either.
"You better get going. Before someone notices," Rhys interjected.
"Very well. I'll take my leave," Shioka pauses. "Regarding what I said Rhys, about that person. Keep in mind what I said and since you heard it, woman. Heed that warning too. I'm sure you know it, possessiveness does not equate to love. If you wish to keep on playing foolish make-believe with him then even I'll grow tired Lyn."
"Uh yeah.."
Lyn nodded, "I know already. When the time comes, I'll properly decide. So I can end it all. '' Though it was only brief, Rhys could see it the darkness in the girl's eyes.
If only he had the courage to step forward. If he did, he would wrap the girl in his arms and not let her go. He would whisper in her ear and reassure. To keep her safe. But such a thing isn't possible, is it? Because in the end he too is being a coward about everything. Once the blonde-haired boy disappeared, he watches as Lyn pulled out what looked like a pure golden locket. If he's not mistaken, that's something Kazuya got her. "In the end, what is true happiness, Givonnai answered I don't know. Kazuya, perhaps it'll be impossible after all."
