Then again, maybe it's the same for him. Kazuya gently caressed her hair. "Lyn," a content sigh escaped Kazuya's lips. "Why don't we lay down for a bit? You're tired from your meeting, right?"
Lyn nodded, and Kazuya picked her up. He gently placed her down on the bed, and he laid down beside her. No sooner did Kazuya's head hit the pillow did she notice his eyelids close. 'Kazuya must be tired too.' Lyn thought. Yet he didn't rest. Now that she thought about it, he was waiting for her, wasn't he? How foolish of him.
Moments later, Lyn woke up to Kazuya, tossing and turning painfully. Since he was hugging her, she was also moved about when she felt a patch of blood. Ahhh? His injuries!!
She examined the wound. "It's not that deep, thank goodness." A relieved sigh passed her lips. " We should hurry up just in case it gets infected." Tentatively, Lyn placed her hands on his left biceps as she moves her fingers across to examine the injury. "Thankfully, the person's blade was dull, so even though they pierced you deeply, the actual wound is not deep."
We should clean it first with water, then maybe we should put some of this special herb on –" she trailed off when she realized she was rambling.
Her cheek reddens as she averts her eyes away from his skin. What did she just do there? Stupid Lyn. Lyn quickly drew her hand back.
Kazuya, however, simply smiled, "Okay, Miss Lyn, I'll let you treat my wounds."
Lyn hit him lightly, what is with that stupid Miss Lyn comment? A deep sigh escaped her lips as she stood up and opened the cabinet. Rhys told her that he put the essential medical equipment here. Sure enough, when she opened it, she found everything she needed. Whenever she saw wounds like this, though, Lyn wants to use that. Instead of a slow and painful recovery using medication, wouldn't it be easier to use healing magic?
She shook her head if she tried that she would certainly get in trouble.
"Kazuya?"
"Say, Lyn," Kazuya mumbled. "You're not thinking about it yet? Marrying me?"
Lyn felt her heart skip a beat at his words. Lately, why does he keep bringing this up?
"If you marry me, we can be together every day. I wouldn't have to come up with excuses to see you. We can just naturally be together."
"Kazuya...that sounds nice."
Kazuya smiled, "We can live in a nice and moderate looking home. But with a large yard so the children can run around. We'll fill our house with laughter and smiles. We can wake up in each other's arms.." As Kazuya carried on saying these things, Lyn felt the tears fall from her eyes.
'If only..' If only that could happen. The two of them know that all of this can never happen; it will always remain a dream. But it was still nice to listen to. Kazuya has really thought this through it seems. Being held by him is very nice. So very comfortable, a long time ago she felt this warmth before
"Kazuya, I really should treat your wounds.."
"Uh, right," Kazuya laughed. "Sorry, having you in my arms is very nice and all."
"Don't be a fool," she broke free from his arms. "I'll be right back."
Lyn scrambled from the bed and made her way to the bathroom. She picked up the basin on the side and filled it with water, before returning to the room.
Lyn tucked her long bang behind her ear. Then she soaked the towel in the water; she ensured sure her hands were wet before she wiped his cheeks with a towel.
She carefully dabbed the area around the wound clean. As Lyn did this, though, she noted how large the wound was, and her frown deepened. The last one had yet to vanish and seemed to merge with the new wounds.
"Kazuya, can't you refrain from getting hurt? Or at least wait until your recovered before getting new injuries. I don't like hugging you and seeing these scars."
Kazuya blinked, "Right, it isn't a good thing to see when we're doing those things."
"What do you mean those things?"
"Should I really clarify?"
"Kazuya, really, quit it…" Lyn leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on his cheeks. "Let me finish the treatment, okay?"
"Yeah, but you're good at treating wounds."
"Of course I am," Lyn trailed off. "I learned a lot when I was studying in the church. There was also somebody there who got hurt a lot."
She hasn't seen that person in a long time, though. However, being in this area of town reminds her of those times. Now that she thought about it, she met Rhys back then too. Rhys was that bold young boy who stole her first kiss... Lyn looked over at Kazuya, does Kazuya know about it too?
"Somebody? A guy?"
"Yeah, my first love."
At that comment, Kazuya's face color turned pale, and Lyn laughed. "Are you jealous?"
"I thought Prince Allen was your first love. I didn't think there was nobody else."
Her gaze softened, "It was a childish crush of mine. I was only ten years old, and the person was twenty. There was a ten-year age gap between us."
"Ten…" Kazuya looked her up and down. "Right, I see now you like older men… How about a guy four-five years? Is that within your strike zone too?"
Despite Kazuya's roundabout way of speaking. Lyn immediately understood what he was getting at. Kazuya is talking about Rhys again. Lyn sighed as she applied the bandage on the wound in his arm before she started to wrap them around his waist.
"Why are you so worried about Rhys?"
"He told me that he met you when you were younger."
"Back then, I was in love with Arthur," Lyn mumbled. Even though she was flattered by Rhys's feelings. "I met Arthur first." Is that why she liked him over Rhys? It was hard to say.
"When was the last time you saw him? This Arthur person?"
"A long time ago, we only knew each other for a few months. He was my brother's enemy," Lyn closed her eyes. Whenever she thought back to the events of that night, the pain in her heart would grow larger.
Arthur said he would get to the bottom of the case, no matter what. But whoever set him up was very clever. In the end, it leads to her brother chasing Arthur down, and Arthur having to escape. Brother refrains from speaking about that night to her. But, Lyn knew that he had many questions. Who wouldn't?
"What a coincidence. I'm also your brother's enemy. Does the second Princess of the Mist Kingdom have a bad habit of falling in love with her enemies?" Kazuya jokes.
But Lyn starts to think about it seriously, "It might actually be like that."
"Hey, Lyn!"
Lyn laughed, "I'm joking, Kazuya."
Kazuya looked at her doubtfully, and Lyn giggled. "Geez," Kazuya sighed. "Lately, it feels like I don't know when it comes to you."
Ah, they were both thinking the same thing. Lyn leaned into his arms, "I want to talk to you, Kazuya, about the past. About the things I remember. About the future...about us," she mumbled. There are so many things she wants to talk to him about. Far too many that she has lost count already.
