Chapter 388 - Hypocrite

Allen didn't immediately reply; he never does. He has this bad habit of pausing and frowning a lot whenever she asks questions he can't answer. More like he can answer those questions, however, because of his position, he can't. Forget it, she glanced up and noticed a few people approaching. Lyn immediately switched onto socializing mode.

This atmosphere, even now it's difficult for her. Maybe if she wasn't so good at analyzing people. Peoples smiles, the expressions they make on their faces. The people here only smile because they are trying to seek benefits from the person they approach.

One thing people have to remember when attending these events is this. Anyone who approaches you here has hidden intentions. Behind those fake smiles and compliments - these people desire so much. Desire power, to the point they will do anything to get it. Lyn slipped away after a short while. Allen was far too busy, so he didn't notice her leave the room.

She made her way down the hallways; it was dark and empty. Everybody was inside the hall.

Lyn glanced up at the sky; she doesn't remember where she heard this saying before. But it said that every single star in the sky represents a person's destiny. That's why people are made to believe that they can see them. But no human can see them clearly enough.

She extended her hands out as she spoke the next words rather softly, "They are always shining in the sky. But it's not humanly possible to reach them…" It was faint and very quiet. Nobody is around to hear them, anyway.

'Even though a person with a strong fighting spirit doesn't reach the end. As long as he shows that he tries his best to make their dreams come true, then they will have a happy ending. Other people withdraw their hands so early in their life even without trying.'

Kazuya, his tone seems so sad when he said those words even though they were having a moment then.

That is the voice of someone who has already seen it all, someone who has experienced it first hand. 'That's why, whatever happens, I am not going to lose my courage or give up on my dreams.'

She sees his ambition once again shown from his brightest eyes.

Kazuya's dream is to seize all the stars in his hand.

But what about the present her? Is there anything she can do to help him? 'As long as your beside me, such a dream is possible, is it?'

He always said such foolish sounding things. Still, whenever he said them, he would do so while holding her tightly in his arms. Her thoughts broke of when she felt an approaching presence.

"Zepher.."

Zepher smiled and extended his hand out, "I'm here. Come."

Lyn nodded and made her way over. He immediately pulled her into his arms. "Lyn, I obtained permission. You can do as you like."

Her eyes widened when she heard those words. "It's okay?"

"Investigate as you please, you don't have to hide. Spread your influence as the Second Princess. No, as the one who will take the throne."

"Then," Lyn pulled away. "Let me ask you a few questions, Zepher. What's your relationship with eldest sister Lethia?"

"Relationship? You say amusing things."

Lyn deeply sighed, "Exactly what do you want, Brother," she placed her hand on her forehead. "The reason why you came looking for me again."

"Brother again? You're so cold."

"Tell me."

"Lyn, as much as possible. I wanted to avoid it. Getting you involved in this. However, it seems like there is no choice. With that sword I gave you, I'll make you do completely unreasonable things."

"That's fine; it's not like I'm innocent, anyway. Besides, what use is this blade if I don't go out onto the field?"

"No, the field is still too dangerous."

"Dangerous, huh? You sound like a hypocrite when you say that. How many times have you said that to me while endangering your own life?" Lyn exclaimed. She hits him a few times before he grabbed hold of her hands. "I'm fed up with it, all of you are saying such things. Saying I'll protect you, don't do this, don't do that. But, what use is there protecting me if you're all dead?"

Zepher said nothing, but he brought her hands to his lips. "I'm sorry about this, Lyn. If only I brought you away with me, that time. Maybe things wouldn't be like this now."

"It's too late for what it's, why...didn't you tell me from the beginning. Tell me that you.."

"I'm sorry. But, you have to overcome this trial. Don't you want to become the Queen? You want the throne, right? You have to stay strong, Lyn; you can do this."

"You're a huge liar brother, I already know about you and my sister. I know what father did recently too. I know Rhys tried to visit me during the time I first stayed in your place… You..."

"I wanted you to hate them, Lyn, those people who tried to take you from me. I wanted you to resent them," Zepher murmured against her hair. "But, it seems like no matter what I do. You'll always hold those people more importantly in your heart than me."

"This isn't the time for reckless competition," Lyn exclaimed. "So many people are dying these days, and the entire Empire is on the verge of a war."

Why is he bringing the matter of his feelings up now? Why is that so important?

"Then, answer this question for me, Lyn. Those members from the Sound Kingdom are spies; they are secretly causing havoc in the Kingdom. Are you turning a blind eye to it all because of your feelings for those two men?"

Lyn couldn't see his expression since the halls gradually grew dimmer. Even the small light source from the window seemed to fade. Her eyes widened when she hears his question. This sounds so stupid, mentioning something like this.
