Chapter 459 - Seventeenth Birthday Part 1

*UNEDITED*

Lyn didn't bother reminding Rhys about her birthday party. Nearing the end of the month, the grand party to reveal her identity starts now. After she parted ways with Rhys, she quickly got changed and headed to the ball. The moment she arrived at the entrance she saw Allen there. 'It's time to reveal her identity now.' She could spot people gathering behind him. Some were peeking over Allen's shoulder curiously.

Allen extended his hand out and kissed her gloved fingers. Lyn noticed how his lips seemed to linger there. Allen eventually let's go, "You look beautiful, my fiancee."

Her gaze softened when she heard the brief introduction. It may seem casual but she sensed the authority in his voice.

He led her onto the dance floor and the music continued to play. Lyn felt everybody's gaze on her and she felt very uncomfortable.

"Since I finally have your attention, I will tell you this now. I have no intention of breaking of our engagement."

"Ah, you mentioned it." Lyn nodded. "But like I said Allen, if you find somebody you like. You have to tell me right away."

If he informs her right away, then she can make the arrangements. If it comes from her then it won't cause too much of an internal strife. Other people would think that she as the clueless Princess broke things of because she didn't know any better.

Allen chuckles. "It seems you didn't understand the meaning behind my words. Then again, this is you. I should have expected this much from you."

What is he talking about?

"No matter how many years go by, it seems you remain as oblivious as ever. I thought your experience with other men would have taught you already."

"Taught me?" Lyn mumbled.

Soujiro's smile didn't vanish from his face. "Indeed, nothing seems to have changed here."

She looked at him puzzled. 'What on earth is he talking about?' Did she do something again? Allen suddenly bent down and brought his lips to her neck. Her eyes widened.

Wait what? Lyn looked at him puzzled but Allen was already walking away. What did he mean by that? Uhh? Her thoughts broke off when somebody rushed up to her with a handkerchief and wiped her neck.

Ah. "Pupillam." Lyn greeted the girl in the yellow knight gear.

"Princess you have to have more self-awareness!"

Lyn laughed when she heard the woman fussing. "You haven't scolded me in so long, I missed it."

Pupillam sighed. "I obviously couldn't miss your birthday. Also, you helped my mother out so I have to thank you."

"Mmm, Allen told me about it."

'It makes sense why Pupillam went so far.' Lyn looked over and saw her aide's worried expression.

"It's okay, thank you," Lyn lightly brushed her forehead against Pupillam's. "Thank you for returning to me."

One of the things she is scared of the most is people leaving her forever. The people she care about dearly leaving her side.

"Princess Lyn.."

"Yes?"

"Why do you smell like that man?"

Her sweat fell when she hears Pupillam's angry tone. Lyn quickly backed away, 'she thought she got rid of it.' But it seems like the smell is still there. Rhys scent huh? Since he smokes all the time. He mainly smells of tobacco and... lately that strange perfume.

Lyn knew she couldn't hide it anymore so she told Pupillam everything that's happened lately. Each sentence lead to increasing the dark aura surrounding her aide. Her sweat fell, "Um, but well you know it isn't too bad."

"What a beast!" Pupillam exclaimed. "How could he do something outrageous. Princess Lyn, you maybe seventeen now. But you're still far too young. That man should know better."

She knew this would happen. But it's better to tell Pupillam than have her find out later.

Pupillam looked very troubled. "Princess Lyn, I must ask you at least one thing. Do you like him?"

"I liked him."

"And now...?"

Lyn sighed. "These days I can't tell. I'm no good with this stuff. I know he means well despite the strange way he expresses it," she trailed off. "Hey Pupillam, do you know what an a.d.u.l.t kiss feels like?"

"Princess!"

"Don't shout, I'm serious." Lyn mumbled. She can't tell whether Rhys is being lenient on her or not.

"Princess Lyn, honestly I don't think I should be the one telling you this stuff." Pupillam trailed of. "Traditionally, you're fiance should be the one teaching you these things."

Ah, that's right. Since Allen and her have been engaged since she was younger. Indeed the one who ought to tell her this stuff is her fiancee. But, Lyn played with the hem of her skirt. She wore a white dress with bright red ruffles on top, and a ribbon tied around her waist. 'Quite some time has passed since she wore something like this.' Lyn felt a bit uncomfortable.

Her gaze fell on Allen now surrounded by a bunch of people. The Queen of the Wind Kingdom, huh? From a young age she was raised to be this man's fiancee. But these days, she doesn't see him that much. Then again isn't that her fault? She went ahead and got a boyfriend.

Lyn took a deep breath and walked over to where Allen was. Usually she wouldn't interfere when he was with other people. However she wanted to speak to him. Lyn reached over and tugged on his sleeve. "Allen," she mumbled. "Can I speak to you for a bit?"

Allen placed his hand on her forehead. "Are you sick? You've looked slightly pale since earlier. Apologies, I shouldn't have made you dance."

Her gaze softened at his words. "Can we go to the garden?"

"Very well," Allen turned to the others. They already heard everything. But Allen quickly explained it. After a few more words he grabbed hold of her wrist and took her outside.

Lyn couldn't miss the way people looked at them. But she simply focused on Allen. This person always grabs hold of her wrist, he never directly holds her hand. The distance between them is different than the one she has with Kazuya.

The garden was awfully quiet. Lyn understood the reason why. The other nobles are afraid to come outside due to the current situation. Allen however didn't seem to mind.

"I realize that lately, I have not spoken to you as much," Allen mumbled.

Her gaze softened and she shook her head. "That's my line. We've both become so busy."

"Those two have changed you."

Lyn looked down at the ground. "Indeed, they have."

"Do you have something you want to say?"

"I said it earlier already, if you find somebody you like..." her sentence fell short when she felt him interlock a strand of her hair with his fingers.

Allen brought it to her lips. "If you were a mere simpleton, then I doubt I would have become this attached. But since this is you it seems like I have to rethink everything."

What is Allen talking about now?
