Even though he is the one that caused her excess breath problem. But then again he knew what was going to come out of this conversation, is not something bitter, but nor is it exactly sweet. It's filled with something people can't see.
"What about me?"
"I don't know."
He leaves it at that, afraid that if he pursues the topic anymore. Those ugly and dark feelings would emerge again. Once the girl felt better, the two of them stood up and walked on the wall.
"When I'm dead, sprinkle my ashes in to the sea."
He saw her startled expression and brushed his hand across her cheeks. "Well?"
"Ah! That's so cool. I want to do the same also, sprinkle mine as well."
Rhys chuckled. "Well that depends on the situation. If possible I would want us to die together."
"True." Lyn said.
"I guess we should ask who will live longest. That seems like the general."
She shook her head and her gaze softened. "If you say that, then we should be asking eldest brother. It seems like he just won't die."
She makes a point there but..
"That guy wouldn't help me do such a embarrassing thing. He will probably complain and say it is troublesome. "
"Oh yeah! That does sound like him. I don't want to die and still have to listen to him complain. My soul would never be at peace then."
"Once you mention the first Prince name, I think about work." Rhys trailed off. "Let's go back tomorrow afternoon. We can relax for the rest of the day and tomorrow morning."
He is so drained recently that he feels like he is going to die. This was one of the main reasons why he decided to come here.
Lyn chuckled. "Then let's go. We have a place to stay here, right?"
"Yeah." He trailed off. "Is it okay? You have your Princess duties."
"I need time off too, since I've worked very hard."
"Staying overnight will make your parents cry."
At that comment the brunette frowns. "Hmph, I don't want to hear that from the guy who thinks nothing about s.e.x before marriage."
"I didn't think you held traditional views."
"Oh your right, it must be a remark due to the moment."
Really she is something else isn't she?
"I never said anything about getting married immediately didn't I?"
"But that is what it seemed like when you asked me."
"I don't understand what it means to be married? Why do such systems and rules exist anyway?"
He was aware that the brunette was looking at him with a look of disbelief. But Rhys genuinely thought so.
"Then, why did you propose to me?"
"Because there is no other way to...."
"To chase away those people?" Lyn finished.
"To chase away Kazuya who lingers in your heart, despite your feelings for me."
Rhys doesn't bother glancing over her way, knowing what expression was on her face.
His gaze remained fixed on the ocean as the snow continued to fall heavily.
"I am behaving just like a kid. Even if we got married, why do I have to rely on this to keep you to me?"
To propose for such a reason, he knows now that she will end up feeling guilty. He doesn't want to see that expression on her face anymore, he doesn't want to be the reason why she's suffering.
"You know I fell in love with your voice, the first time I heard it I was mesmerised. Whenever you sang, it felt like things returned to life.
All the bleak and mundane things in my life suddenly held a meaning. I fell in love with you and wanted to be with you no matter what happens. Yet at the same time I wanted to stay away from you. That way, you would remain by my side all the time, and only think about me. That's all I wanted."
'Such selfish and dark thoughts consumed me before I knew it.'
Rhys continues. "If you don't work, then you won't be able to express your feelings for other men. Like that you would stay by my side and be with me always. You wouldn't be able to convey your feelings." He trails of and saw the brunette removing her scarf. "Lately, I thought that I want to kill you Lyn. I feel that if I do that, then you will be mine forever."
'Such twisted and terrible thoughts.' But he already can't pull away.
Lyn wrapped the scarf around his neck; and he immediately pulled her into a deep embrace
"Lyn, Lyn." Rhys said her name repeatedly luke a spell. "I might fall into hell someday, what would you do?"
"I said I would go with you. It's already too late to change everything now. No matter what I say or do, it doesn't change the fact that I slept with you countless times already, whether it was by my own consent or not. It's wrong."
"Lyn, I love you." He covered her mouth with his and started to kiss her.
It didn't take long before everything turned passionate.
"Rhys, nngh we shouldn't do this here." Lyn mumbled.
"We shouldn't?"
"Mmm, didn't you book a place?"
That's true. He would rather do this on a comfortable bed. "Let's go then."
...
Inn - Mist Kingdom -
The inn he found was a western style one. 'Surprisingly enough there is a grand place like this.' Rhys observed his surroundings.
A large western canopy bed with white sheets, a gold frame.
'I don't sense anything strange about this place.' But with everything happening recently, it won't do any harm.
"Why are you sat so far away?" Rhys observed.
"Why are we --sh--sharing the same room?" Lyn stammered.
He raised his eyebrows. "Why are you so surprised by that? Did you think I would book a separate room for you?"
Lyn's cheeks turned red and she looked away. "Well, the least you can do is be considerate."
"Considerate?" Rhys flopped on the bed. "Don't be a fool. This is a rare trip with you, you are staying right by my side Lyn."
Besides it's better for them to stay together. This town is far from the riots but who knows what could happen?
