Osamu's gaze fell on the young girl who was clinging to Rhys but had tears in her eyes. "Lyn." Osamu called out. "Won't you hug me before I leave?"
"Father..father is an idiot!"
Osamu chuckled. "I'm sorry, I wanted to spend some more time with you but I have to go now."
"King Osamu we have to go now."
He took one last look at his daughter who was still clutching her arm onto Rhys. 'This young man will change her.' She will be fine from now on.
…
Year XXX Mist Kingdom
A dark fog seemed to shroud the castle upon his return no the entire Kingdom. From the very moment he returned Osamu felt the hostile and uneasy vibes from the servants in the castle. A deep sigh passed his lips as he entered the central chambers. He already received word what had happened in his absence. His wife did a good job covering for him but it was not enough. The moment he entered he saw her looking at the throne with a dim expression, her complexion looked awfully pale.
"Orthez." Osamu called out.
He strolled over and held her tightly. Orthez turned to him with fear in her eyes. Osamu already knew what she wanted to say.
"I brought her to a safe place."
"Where?"
"The rain Kingdom." Osamu saw her disturbed expression. "It is the only place." While they have alliances elsewhere, Lyn would stand out in those other places. But the Rain Kingdom where the King is famous for having a large harem?
Nobody will play attention to a new girl that has entered.
"If anything happens to me fetch her and send her to Junlan church."
Her eyes blazed with anger at his words and he chuckled. "Of course I will do my best so the situation does not end up that way."
"I am afraid what if…"
"Do not worry, I have this under control. I am not the one who did those things. I will find evidence to clear my name." Osamu tried to reassure her but deep down he was losing hope.
How did they find such solid evidence to frame him? He does not mean to boast but there is nobody in the Kingdom who can match his intelligence. Nobody except… the doors opened revealing a man with brown hair wearing a top hat. "Hey Orthez today---" The man who entered was also one of his wifes husbands.
"Oh your back?"
This person is from the Sound Kingdom Daichi. But even after he figured out where the man came from he could not find out from which family.
Orthez's gaze softened when she saw him. "Your back?"
"Mm, extend your hand out."
Orthez does so and the man pulls out a bouquet of flowers. Her eyes widened in surprise. "For me?"
"You told me you're too busy to go out lately. These are the new flowers blooming at the edge of town."
"Thank you Daichi."
That smile… she does not smile like this in front of him. Perhaps it is a good thing that the Mist Kingdom has an odd tradition of multiple spouses otherwise Orthez would have had to choose. The two of them have been engaged since they were younger. Orthez has been devoted to him for a long time, she respected him but there were no feelings. It was only later on when she resolved to be the heir did something happen between them.
"Did you only hunt for flowers?"
Daichi chuckled. "Of course not. I have to report your highness."
Osamu nodded. "Then report--" His sentence fell short as he felt his vision go blurry.
…..
When Osamu woke up he was in his room
His wife Orthez was clumsily soaking up a towel in a wash basin. "You have to get rid of the water but not completely." Osamu called out.
Orthez frowned. "I know."
"Did I collapse?" He stated the obvious.
"You did." Orthez bit her lip. "You didn't have to rush back non stop like that."
"I was worried about you my wife."
"I can handle this! I've been raised to be the Queen since I was born, don't underestimate me."
Yes that's right. The elders, those around them raised both of them to be the future King and Queen. Their fates were enter winded for so long and yet he recalled her smile earlier. The first person to make her smile, to make her become serious wasn't him.
Even if he disappears Orthez will be fine. It will be hard for her but she will have that man to support her.
Osamu felt the coldness of the towel on his forehead. "Anyhow your resting."
"What about…"
"I will handle everything." Orthez interjected sharply. "Just don't, just don't do this again!"
His eyes widened when he heard her shaking tone. He glanced over properly and saw that she was trembling. Was she that scared?
Osamu extended his hand out. "Lay down beside me Orthez."
She looked frustrated but nodded as she laid down beside him. The moment she was on the bed he pulled her into his arms. "How long have we been married Orthez?"
"Why are you asking?"
"Entertain me."
"Only seven years."
Only seven huh? Only seven years has passed since he took the throne. To think that his time would come to an end so quickly. Osamu already understood the current situation. 'Unless I die this chaos won't end.'
His thoughts broke off when Orthez went on top of him. She played with his hair. "What are you thinking?"
"Nothing."
Orthez didn't look convinced. "Is that girl truly going to be okay there? What if the King comes back?"
"Relax, that kan will be busy. Besides I have entrusted her in good hands." Osamu quickly explained the situation with the young Prince.
Orthez frowned, she didn't seem very happy. "Dear she already has a fiance.."
"Indeed, young Allen is a promising man."
"Then..."
"But…" Osamu trailed off. "We cannot decide her future for her. All we can do as her parents is help her build her connections. We surround her with powerful people, and it will be up to her to cultivate those relationsh.i.p.s."
"That's true. So how is this young man?"
Osamu chuckled when he saw her sparkling eyes. She seems to be very interested in this topic.
"Your saying Lyn clung to him?"
"Indeed, she got all fl.u.s.tered when he complimented her too."
They don't have that much time left together. So he wants to make some more happy memories with her.
