Chapter 527 - Tale of Rain Part 9

The Rain Kingdom is famous for the reputation of their Princes but among them is the frail Second Prince. Despite his talents and intelligence due to his poor health he could not attend conferences or deal with the Kingdom's political affairs officially. Currently, he sits on the couch in one of the palace's most lavish rooms. Despite the grand design of the place, the surroundings were a mess.

So much work…

Isaki always felt bad that he could not do much to help. A useless second Prince huh? Normally the second Prince would be in charge of supporting the First Prince, the Crown Prince with work and yet..

His thoughts broke off when somebody entered the room.

"It is rare for you to call for me first brother and yet your late."

A deep sigh passed his lips. "I was meeting with the foreign ambassadors."

"Ah, the ones our father told us to entertain in his absence?"

"Those people have no interest in the Kingdom's political scene at all, they only want to drink, eat, and fool around."

"They are people our father have chosen. Anyhow, what did you need me for?" Isaki did not want to dwell on this topic because it would make him feel worse.

I should be there to help him.

"Those two, how are they?"

"You mean Rhys and Little Lyn?" Isaki immediately understood. Despite how busy first brother is with his work, Isaki noted that he paid special attention to those two. "They are getting along very well."

"Is that so? Thank goodness."

Could it be that first brother also thinks that Lyn should be Rhys' wife? Actually he thought the same. The girl fit the profile to be Rhys future wife. She is not too high in the nobility status to the point that she would crave power, as the second Princess she has more leeway. Her role would be a support one and she would not fight for the throne. So it would not matter if she married Rhys and remained in the Rain Kingdom.

Isaki had also been doing a lot of thinking on this matter. Rhys may be young but he is very promising. People even consider him as a candidate as the next King due to his achievements.

Isaki was about to say something when Tetsuki burst into coughs. That would be normal due to the unusually cold temperature today but his eyes widened horrified seeing the blood. "Wait, I thought you went to see a specialist?"

After Tetsuki collapsed last time, Isaki suggested he go and see the high priest. The temple here in the Rain Kingdom is famous for the priests who can use high level magic. It is not healing magic exactly but their magic helps dispel bad toxins.

"Do I need to? You are here."

Isaki bit his lip and he shook his head. "Even you understand that my medical knowledge is limited."

"I am aware but do you want me to ask our little brother for help?"

By little brother, he was referring to Rhys who people have also regarded as a medical genius.

Isaki sighed. "Just for today. You must go to the temple after this. But can I confirm something? Are you that concerned about the kids?"

"A little," Tetsuki admitted. "I hope this is not a simple fascination since the girl appears to be serious."

Huh...what?

"She came to me and asked how marriage works in the Rain Kingdom. I told her that unless our father had the time, we make our own marriage arrangements."

He could only blink shocked as he began to pull out herbs from his bag. "This is surprising."

"Is it? You said they got along."

"But did she actually say…"

"Give me Rhys! I want Rhys to be mine."

Isaki almost dropped the bottle in his hands and Tetsuki chuckled. "Such bold words from a six-year-old child."

"She also said she wants nobody but Rhys."

Isaki already suspected it when he saw the Princess reaction that time but even then he was unsure. He did not want to jump to conclusions just in case he was wrong. But to think she actually…

"I was thinking of agreeing."

"Huh? But Princess Lyn has a fiance."

"I am aware of the Mist Kingdom customs regarding marriage. While it is unusual it is not as bad as ours. Look how many people father has in his harem."

"Indeed but the whole point of us arranging marriages for ourselves is because we want to avoid the multiple partners scenario."

"There is no need to worry. I believe this girl is serious and Rhys too. The only issue is.."

"Right our father. That man would ruin things." A marriage with a Princess from one of the prestigious families. Even though Lyn is only the second Princess, that person will try to do something unreasonable. "He has no intention of passing down the throne either."

One would think that man would retire already due to his old age but instead he gets greedier by the day. 

"It is trouble, we need him to step down. Not only are his women consuming the funds fast but now there is Rhys marriage involved." 

The only way for Rhys to get Lyn peacefully is for their father to get out of the picture. Most people would think this is cruel and cold hearted but he no longer saw that man as his father.

"How is the revolt plan?"

"Going well but I believe that he also has the same plan."

A deep sigh escaped his lips. Of course, that person would think of the same thing. However it should be alright. First brother is no pushover and he seems serious about the throne this time. Actually, this man had the capability to take the throne from the moment he was a teenager. But he didn't do that at all. Isaki always wondered why.

"This is troubling. I think we should inform Rhys now. I know you didn't want to involve him but…"

Tetsuki nodded. "I understand I also think it is in that girl's best interest."

Isaki frowned when he heard those words. "Is the situation.."

"King Osamu is a strong man, I believe he will hold out."

If the King does not hold out then it will be bad for everybody. King Osamu has to become the emperor to unite the scattered kingdoms. There is nobody else but that man who is capable of that. Isaki knew that Tetsuki agreed with this too. The Empire needs a ruler, one ruler to keep everybody in place. With the current situation, how long will it be until everything falls apart?
