After walking for a few minutes, Rhys slammed her against the wall and kissed her deeply.
"I understand that you two are friends. But sneaking out without telling me and meeting him will give anyone the wrong idea."
"...sorry."
What else can she say? It was a coincidence that she met Kazuya out here, but she knew that logic would not work on him. Lyn noticed how he was strangely nervous and jumpy whenever it came to anything Kazuya related. But then again, considering how this relationship started, it made sense.
She can't completely dismiss his worries either. After all, she has complicated feelings towards Kazuya.
"By the way, I was looking for you."
"Looking for me?"
Rhys nodded. "I got permission from your brother, but I have some scrolls and books you might want to read."
Even though Rhys dislikes her brothers, before he does anything, he always gets their permission. He does not like hiding anything from her. "I see."
She tried to avert her gaze from him, but it wasn't easy since he was so close to her.
Her thoughts broke off when he cupped her cheeks. "I won't get angry anymore. But, you have to let me do what I want." He is already tugging away at the ribbon of her gown before she could answer.
This man is so helpless. He can be a real jerk at times too. How many times have they fought since he came here?
Lyn leaned forward and kissed him. "Okay."
Rhys, however, did not seem satisfied with that answer. "Just okay?"
Lyn sighed. "You're difficult today, is it because I met-" Her sentence fell off when she saw the look in his eyes. She sighed quietly again and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I adore you more than I do anybody else, and yet you doubt me all the time. So how do you expect me to show my affection for you?"
Exactly what does this man want from her?
Rhys pulled her arms away but cupped her cheeks. "You're crying."
"I'm not."
"I can hear your soul cry, you're always in pain. Why can't you be happy around me?" It's not that she can't be happy around him, but there is something else. She likes him a lot but like with Kazuya, just having feelings for him is not enough.
Is it because she decided to run for the throne seriously? Lyn didn't reply, and Rhys didn't wait for his response as he picked her u.
He leaped through the roofs with her in his arms. At this speed, they will reach her chambers quite quickly.
It was so simple back then when the two first came here.
…..
A few hours later
Lyn was the first one to wake up. She noticed that Rhys clumsily had his arms around her. It was almost like he didn't want to touch her but ended up doing so. He is most likely still angry at her, but what else was she supposed to do then? Ignore Kazuya?
Lyn stood up and realized something, and she now wore different clothes from earlier. A tint of red appeared on her face, and she sighed. She felt embarrassed and nervous. Rhys is an idiot, but it seemed they had a past together.
She wondered if he recognized her right away, and that was why he acted so familiar with her. If that were the case, then it would make more sense, all those bold actions before.
Lyn intended to head out quickly, but when she hears her name, she looked back. Rhys was still fast asleep, but he was calling her name. This is more painful than she thought it would be. After the break up with Kazuya, she did not intend to enter another relationship. She knew Rhys would take advantage of the moment, but she did not think it would go this far.
She thought she would be able to act cold and keep him at a distance, but she became attached quickly. When he first learned about it, that expression on his face was a first seeing him that desperate and hopeful.
That person loves her more than she thought. It was because of that reason that she accepted his hand even though she was not supposed to.
Lyn bent down and kissed his forehead softly. "Goodnight ." Due to the state of his emotions earlier, she could not say this to him. Lyn quickly exited the room after that and walked down the corridors.
"When is Kazuya leaving?" Lyn called out.
Despite the darkness of the night and silent corridor, Lyn knew that her guard was there.
Pupillam hesitated but nodded. "Tomorrow morning before dawn, mam. Your brother, the First Prince, gave the order to leave quietly so nobody would notice."
Indeed it is exactly like her brother to do something like that. Everybody knows that Kazuya has a habit of disappearing and not staying in one place for long. But there are always people who see him.
"How long do you think it will be until they figure things out?"
"The First Prince said he could keep sir Kazuya's departure for a month or two."
Two months and maybe even less, huh? If the people were to find out that Kazuya returned to the Sound Kingdom, then they would surely urge Mother to prepare for war.
Not many people think favorably of Kazuya, even though Kazuya worked hard to reverse their opinions. Many still dislike him.
"Where is my brother tonight?"
She watched as a dark gaze appeared on Pupilliams face at that comment, but she quickly answered. "He said he would stay over at Lady Gabrielle's room tonight."
Brother is so heartless when it concerns other girls. Lyn deeply sighed. "That's enough, Pupilliam; you get some rest tonight."
"Yes, but Princess…"
"I will merely have a look at the greenhouse and then head back."
She wants to see something beautiful to calm her heart. Pulliam hesitated but quickly left. Once she was sure the girl went, Lyn extended her hand out, and a beam of light appeared in her hands. She managed to capture some of the melodies Kazuya played earlier.
Before he leaves, she wants to see him.
