"Well, I guess we can help Kana pick her masteries in the meantime, and back to Alice when she's done," James said distracting Albert from his sister's situation.
"Well, I have a theory that I want to consult with you guys but let see Kana's mastery list first so then I can be more sure about it."
"You really passionate about this aren't you," Kana said while handing her card's
"Well yeah, what do you expect from me. I spent all my life play games and right now our life just turn into an RPG and we have a status screen, mastery, skill, and even class."
- Vitality Restoration (int 11, wis 11, vit 5)
- Light Magic (int 16, wis 9)
- Fire Magic (int 13, wis 8)
- Water Magic (int 9, wis 12)
- Blood Manipulation Technique (int 25, HP 400)
After looking at her mastery list Kana was down a bit. She was sad by the fact that she has a little less mastery that compatible with her compare to Alice. On top of that, the thing that she can learn now is limited to 2 as the requirements are too high.
"Whooa now that's some high number you need to satisfy. You can either add 1 wis to your stats and learn Vitality Restoration, or add 1 int and learn Fire Magic. So which one do you think better, Al?" James asked Albert after looking at Kana's list
"If this was a game than I would choose to add 1 int and learn Fire Magic. But for Kana, I think you should to add 1 wis and learn Vitality Restoration?"
"Why would you suggest her to do that? Isn't it better if she can manipulate fire to add more offensive options? After hearing Mr. Poe's explanation if you increase your offensive option it would increase your potential to classify as combat class."
"First and foremost, this is not a game and we don't know what we have to do after we got this ability. The only explanation we have is we have to try our best to survive in some new places because our earth is dying. In a sense, classifying as a combat class would give you a benefit as you can survive when you face an opponent on the same level.
But combat is not the only option here; Like in an MMORPG you can tackle more difficult content if you have the right party composition. You don't have to be a warrior to kill a goblin you can be a priest and help your party killing raid boss or something like that.
And from the name Vitality Restoration, It feels like you can get a skill similar to healing. And because she got a priest as her class, I feel like it would fit her rather well. When I skim through the manual it emphasizes a lot on compatibility and a lot of 'depends on the user' word keep reappearing.
Also, do you remember what Mr. Poe says to us? 'The classification is by no means a determining factor it would only help us to find you a suitable field that you can shine on'. And what better stage for a priest to shine on other than healing the party? If my deduction is correct she could become a priest that can heal from behind like in the game."
"Okay, so you're saying I should choose Vitality Restoration?"
"Yes, but in the end, it was your choice if you think choosing Fire Magic is better for you than I'm not opposed to that either. I just think what makes more sense and it doesn't mean it would always be the right choice."
Same as Alice after the word yes she just straight away raises her wis and choose to learn Vitality Restoration. Do you guys really trust me that much? What if I told you to jump off a bridge. I look at Kana's face and I can see sweat forming in her frowned forehead. I turn to look at Alice and her face look a bit calmer but I can still see some sweat on it. I didn't go check my potential mastery list and straight away because I know Alice's would complain to no end if I choose without her. Even though the knowledge she had about games almost nonexistent she still enjoys watching when I play games. So in the meantime, I just discuss what I discover with James as he already has a full mastery and can speak a nerd language as he usually the guy that I drag into my gaming madness.
"Okay, so far we know that we get our class automatically and we have no option of choosing classes. From all the information that we have, I think the most important thing we got from the experiment is actually not the class but the status."
"Why would you think so?"
"Well look at your status and tell me in a game scenario would you say that your status distribution makes sense or not? High int, High wis grant you necromancer and priest class. And I get class minstrel due to high dex."
"Yeah but you can also see it the other way around. For example mine and kana's class are lean more towards magic stuff so our status distributes more towards int and wis. Right?
"But if use that theory then Alice's status doesn't make sense at all. Look at her statuses and see if it's fit a monk. Even in a game where monk classifies more towards hand to hand combat they usually have a decent mana pool to either buff herself and others. I think she just barely met the requirement due to her high int and because of the endurance and vit stats, she ended up as a monk.
And although you can still argue it to be opposite when you look at the mastery that compatible with Alice and Kana they're not really fit their job description rather fit their status more. A priest that got fire and water magic option is really not in the norm of the game, right? Also, Alice's monk class got a lot more offensive option and I think it was because of her str stat causing more offensive mastery to pop up. "
"Well, I'll just accept it for now as there's no way to know it for sure. But what's the use of knowing that status determined your class rather than the opposite?"
