Chapter 173 173:Promotion In Rank[II]
A towering figure rose up casting a looming shadow over everyone's expression.
The humanoid figure of Spirit was a huge towering figure on the battlefield, wearing shiny armor with a fierce helmet.
Its eyes glow with a flicker of crimson thunder. It carries a huge weapon that crackles with energy, striking fear in their heart.
The moment it appeared, everyone imagined the scene of an ancient figure running amok across the battlefield. With every swing, it cuts through foes, inspiring allies to fight bravely.
Whispers of fear and awe spread among the commanders as they felt the overwhelming power emanating from Cameron.
Awakening Martial Spirit was quite rare and having such a huge and high-ranking Martial Spirit was even rarer.
The reason why most people don't readily show their Martial Spirit is because if it's weaker than the other side it would be subdued and won't be able to make a move that will strike fear in the host's heart and affect the host.
But it's another thing if your Martial Spirit is an absolute beast at its peak.
Cameron's eyes locked onto Milano whose body trembled involuntarily.
"Commander Milano if you don't follow the orders, I am gonna carve a report about your disobedience and each of you knows very well how army rules treat people who break rules without proper cause."
Cameron's voice boomed, infused with the deep resonance of the Warlord spirit within him.
The Commanders shivered as they saw Cameron's grueling smiling face.
His words carried weight and certainty, instilling both determination and dread in those who listened. His gaze swept across the place, locking eyes with each commander in turn, their hearts pounding with a mixture of reverence and fear.
As the meeting continued, Cameron's presence only seemed to grow stronger, his aura of power filling the place until it felt as though they were in the presence of a living legend.
With each word he spoke, the resolve of the commanders hardened, knowing that this wasn't a suggestion but rather an order that everyone needed to follow.
CLAP!
Cameron clapped creating a faint shockwave.
"Now since we have decided, let's begin shall we?"
With that Cameron pulled his spear spinning in the air.
"We have a horde of horses, each Martial King takes one and follows me."
"We will cut from the side and take turns, we will aim at the enemy Commander. Meanwhile, Sir Mac, you are in full charge of here and also support Leon and Commander Irina so that they can draw aggro."
They have to be as fast as possible so if Leon could draw the flies it would be easier for them to get through.
Soon horses were brought from the barracks.
"Advance!"
With a loud shout, Cameron jumped over a horse that was a mutated Spiritual beast horse of Martial Master that was followed by others.
NEIGH!NEIGH!NEIGHHG!
Kicking the soles, the horses galloped swiftly leaving dust followed by an infantryman.
Mac shook his head seeing their back and looked around.
There were 14 Martial Kings left behind but the problem was that 8 out of them were opposing Cameron. He didn't bring them lest they do more harm than work.
Taking a deep breath, Mac stared at a figure who made a crucial decision.
"Vice Commander Melony!"
"Yes Sir!"A woman emerged with a bow.
"Lead the remaining rose troops and help Commander Irina and Vice-Commander Thane."
Mac then took a step and whispered something to both Thane and Melony in a faint voice so that others wouldn't hear.
As for the other Commander's reaction, he didn't give a damn nor he cared.
...........
At the front end....
An Orc's weapon was struck out of his hand.
Snarling, the Orc tried to charge forward and tackle Leon. Without hesitating, Leon held his sword with one hand and punched the green face. Leon, then violently elbowed him and made him retreat. The sound of his ribs cracking could be heard vaguely.
Soon, soldiers managed to reach them and formed a formation around Leon and Irina.
Thane stepped forward giving Leon a salute much to everyone's surprise.
"You have been promoted."
"Huh?"Leon blurted out in shock.
Peter and Garrison smiled seeing Leon's reaction.
"What these soldiers said was true. Things are a bit difficult, that's why we need you even more."
Thane shut his eyes slowly remembering all the fights he had fought with Leon and opened them with determination.
His gaze was sharp unlike before carrying a sharp resolution and a hint of respect.
"Cause you are one of the most valiant warriors that I have ever seen in my life."
"Commander Leon!"
Thane shouted followed by everyone behind giving Leon a salute.
Ian, Vikram, and Sander's jaws opened wide at the sudden turn of events.
He exhaled softly and shouted a nickname that Leon had gained recently due to killing the enemy gruesomely.
"Demon of the battlefield."
The moment these words were spoken, those who were in a predicament had an awe-look. It was as if even the atmosphere had been changed.
When everyone lost their composure and ran in fear, it was he who stepped forward amidst the falling stones.
"Please lead...No, you don't need to lead, please just go rampage."
Hearing this Leon looked at Irina with a sidelong glance making her heart quiver.
Even though no words were spoken, Leon understood every word conveyed by those gazes.
She felt an unprecedented joy as her son looked for her opinion.
"Cameron is good at leading troops and an excellent fighter. He had a good chance to slay the enemy commander but the risks are also high but Leon, I don't think you need to take a lot of risk..."
"I understand," Leon muttered, turning around.
"We have a crucial role to play from here on. If we retreat, a part of the pillar would collapse. Our fight will not only raise our allies' morale but also allow Commander Cameron to pierce his way, right?"
"SO!"
Leon's eyes started glowing golden with a black reptilian pupil. His skin seemed to be hardened, and his height seemed to increase a bit.
A cacophony of cracking sounds echoed.
The atmosphere around him started changing. The current him gave a feeling akin to a deity to be feared.
A deep enigma of fear resurfaced in everyone's hearts around him, making everyone step back.
"LEON!"Su Lin extended her hand in deep worry. Her heart ached for a moment as she could already see through the pain one had to suffer to achieve this.
She knew how people go through rigorous pain to achieve body transformation.
Irina's heart jolted in shock on seeing those gazes. Though it was vague, she could glimpse the blurry image of a dragon roaring behind Leon.
All this saddened her more as it reminded him of her absence in her son's life when he was going through a difficult phase.
She looked into Leon's eyes and understood the intention he conveyed.
She wanted to pull him back, she wanted to trap him in a cage and protect her from all external worries but she knew that she couldn't.
And if she keeps on forcibly implementing her authority, it will just push his son back.
'I...I just need to support him. Even if I had to sacrifice my life, I would make sure to protect him.'
"Leon!"
Leon pauses a bit hearing Irina's voice and stares at her.
"Just go ahead. You can do it."
Pausing a little, Leon smiled with a nod.
"I know that still thanks for the encouragement."
