“How did that happen…”

Madam Ji stared blankly at the agitated woman before her; her voice was laced with indecision.

It was not only her who was surprised; even her husband was.

“Ji Chi is actually your child…”

Compared to their shock, their son was much calmer.

“Mom, where is my boy?”

In the living room, he was the calmest, so he was able to ask the most important question.

His question made Pei Ge realize that the most pressing issue right now was to find where the boy was!

Her daughter would not say such strange words for no reason, so the boy might really be in danger!

“Right! Ping—Ji Chi… where is he? I want to see him!”

She agitatedly took a few steps toward the older woman and looked at her imploringly.

The latter subconsciously took a few steps backward when she saw how agitated the former was, stuttering, “P-Ping An is fine. He’s in his room right now, taking an afternoon nap…”

The moment she heard that, Pei Ge desperately wanted to go to where the boy was.

“Ziming, quickly bring me to see him! He’s our son!”

She turned to look at the man; panic was etched on her beautiful features.

He did not hesitate to bring her away from the living room to their son’s room by the hand.

Walking through this house, for the first time, she grumbled about why this house was needlessly big.

How she wished that she could teleport so she could reach her son’s bedroom in the blink of an eye.

With the man’s guidance, she finally reached the door to the boy’s room.

She could not stop her tears from falling as she took in the large, sky-blue door with a child’s drawings.

“Ping An…”

Her voice trembled as she uttered the name she had uttered for a long time.

“Pei Ge…”

Ji Ziming gently called her name, feeling agitated yet elated.

However, presently, as all of her focus was on her son, she neglected everyone and everything around her.

She quickly took a few steps forward, knocking the door before pushing it open. It was as though she could not bear to wait even a second longer.

Instantly, her senses were filled with the scent of a formula milk.

She pursed her lips at the sight of the room filled with brightly colored toys. She timidly called ‘Ping An’ and then seemed to recall something before gently calling ‘Baby.’

The strange thing, though, was that only silence met her call.

An ominous feeling rose in her heart. Soon, though, the crinkles on her forehead eased up.

Maybe my son is still sleeping!

As she thought of this, she tiptoed inside the room, but when she got to the huge bed, she realized that the boy was not in it!

“Ping An! Ping An!”

Her face whitened at the sight of the empty bed!
