What she did not expect for… something to happen when her son finally woke up.
“Mommy, when will little brother wake up?”
Under the bright sun, two children and one adult crowded around a boy’s bed, staring at the asleep child with much anticipation.
It had been two days since Ji Chi slept.
“He’ll wake up soon.”
Although Pei Ge was also worried about her child, she still forced herself to perk up and console her two children when she saw how expectant they were.
“Is that so? I really wish that my little brother will wake up and play with me soon!”
Ever since the two children learned that Ji Chi was their biological brother, their feelings for him had deepened.
“He will. Your brother will surely wake up soon. When that happens, you two need to play with him properly and give in to him more…” After all, her son had suffered too much for the past few years.
However, she did say that aloud and just kept it in her heart.
It was enough for her to know about such things.
Her children needed not know about such dreadful stuff.
“Yes, mommy. Don’t worry; I’ll definitely take good care of younger brother.”
An An nodded solemnly. He clearly was still small, yet his thinking was way beyond his age; he was just like his father.
Ran Ran did not lose out on her older brother as she quickly nodded while looking at the sleeping boy in bed solemnly.
“Mommy, don’t worry; I, too, will give in to him and won’t ever bully or snatch things from him!”
Their promises caused Pei Ge’s lips to curve upward, and she felt a lot better.
Her good mood did not last long, unfortunately. Before long, it turned complicated and terrible.
“You two are such good children!”
She rubbed their heads, her gaze only leaving Ji Chi for a moment. Suddenly—
“Ah, mommy! Little brother is awake!”
The girl spotted her brother waking up. Seeing him raise his arms, her eyes immediately lit up.
Pei Ge felt her heart jump when she heard that, and she quickly turned to look at the boy.
Tears rolled down her face when she saw his lashes fluttering open drowsily.
“Ping An…”
She softly murmured, bringing him in her arms. Her body was practically shaking.
She valued this child whom she had unexpectedly gotten back more than anyone else.
“This is great. You’re finally awake. Mommy is truly very happy. Mommy—”
Amid her excitement, the child’s words poured a cold bucket on her head.
“Who are you? You’re not my mother…”
