Chapter 1471 - You and my son, get married again.

“Auntie, I’m really fine.”

“You’re fine, but it’s not the same for the baby in your tummy. Listen to me; drink this soup first and we’ll start dinner.”

Pei Ge could not decline further and could only force herself to drink the soup. There was still a bit left in the bowl, and Mother Ji encouraged her to finish at one go.

“This is correct; sit down and rest well. Son, stay here and take good care of her. I’ll go to the kitchen and see if the dishes are done.”

“Mhm.” Ji Ziming arched a brow, and after his mother left, he said, “A boy or a girl is fine; I only want you and the baby to be well and healthy.”

“But I’m really not pregnant,” insisted Pei Ge, her exquisite face flushed.

“Even if you aren’t, I’m still happy.” The man shot her a glance with his deep gaze, and the happiness in his eyes could not be concealed. “Are you hungry?”

His words made her feel as though he were asking whether the baby in her tummy was hungry or not.

She shook her head as her tender hands covered his big hands. “I’m afraid…”

“Don’t be afraid; you have me.”

He wrapped his big hands around her small ones tightly, unwilling to loosen the grip even by a bit.

He wanted her to be by his side all his life and not to leave or desert him again.

Qu Jingwan looked from upstairs at the two talking on the sofa and the children playing with wooden blocks on the carpet happily. Her eyes glowered at this blissful family.

Her well-defined palm, which was holding the railing, popped with veins. She pinched the ring on her index finger tightly. It was the ring Madam Ji had placed in her hand in Ji Ziming’s name, and now the latter wanted to take back the title of the Ji family’s future daughter-in-law from her. For the sake of this family’s wealth, Qu Jingwan decided to fight back.

After dinner, the older woman brought Pei Ge to the small pavilion in the courtyard behind the mansion. The branches of the Chinese parasol tree swayed with the breeze and some of its leaves fell to the ground, with a few drifting into the pond next to the pavilion. For a moment, many small flowers in the garden started moving with the breeze, too.

“Pei Ge, just listen to me and stay home. If you’re bored, I’ll bring you out for a walk.” Madam Ji poured a cup of longjing tea. Just as she did, the water flowed onto the floor. “You can’t drink this longjing; I’ll go pour you a cup of something you can drink.”

“Auntie, you don’t have to busy yourself with anything; I’m not drinking.” Pei Ge quickly stopped her, and seeing how highly the latter regarded the baby in her stomach, her guilt intensified.

“Alright, alright, alright. I shan’t prepare you any drink; shan’t prepare anything.” The older woman sat on the stone bench and smiled as she poured herself a cup of longjing.

“Why not choose a date for you and my son to get married again? How about that?”

“Get married?”

“That’s right. You’re now the most important person in the family. I need to take good care of you, as well as our new family member.”

“But what about Qu Jingwan?”

“She’s Ziming’s future wife in name, but they don’t have mutual love. Instead, my son brings you around—to the hospital and for holidays. You’re practically my family’s daughter-in-law.”

Although she was shocked to hear the older woman speak about marriage, Pei Ge felt that she could not carry on lying. She got up. The guilt she was feeling caused her to be unable to look at the older woman in the eye. She hesitated before saying, “Auntie, I want to tell you that I’m not pregnant. Your son thought that I’m pregnant, but he’s just making a fuss over a small thing.”

“You’re not pregnant?” asked the older woman in disbelief.

“I’m really not pregnant.” She nodded in affirmation.

Madam Ji sat up straight and looked at the woman before her as she thought of what her son had told her when he left home for the office. She also thought of the time when this woman refused to have fish and greasy food on the dining table.

She nodded. “Alright, alright, alright. You’re not pregnant. Come and take a seat. I’m not pressuring you but quickly come take a seat and don’t stand.”

Qu Jingwan, in her white, knee-length Chanel dress, was standing under the Chinese parasol tree not far from the pavilion. The thick and huge trunk of the tree hid her from view.

She carried rosolio brew from freshly plucked rose petals from the French garden. She wanted to bring it to the older woman quickly but heard this news that she did not wish to hear.

Pei Ge’s pregnancy meant that the day she left this family was not far away. The moment she thought of it, she became anxious. If she were to leave this family now, not only would she not get what she wanted, Qu Qingyu would not let her go, either. On top of that, those ‘sisters’ would be discussing her behind her back.

Can’t! I can never leave the Ji family!

Pei Ge said that she was not pregnant, but Ji Ziming’s mother did not believe it. Could it be that Pei Ge is really not pregnant?

She thought of a plan and left the mansion’s courtyard stealthily. She returned to her room and gave her grandmother a call.

The call was connected quickly, but it seemed that Old Lady Qu had just woken up because she sounded a bit hoarse.

“Jingwan, what’s the matter?”

“Grandma, can you get me some abortion medicine?”

“Abortion medicine? You’re pregnant?”

“No, it’s Pei Ge; she’s pregnant.”

“She’s pregnant?!” The elderly woman jumped from her reclining chair, and her voice increased by several decibels. “How’s that possible?!”

“The situation is that she’s already pregnant. I need some abortion medicine. I can’t allow her to give birth to a child; if not, I’ll be sent out of this family. You must help me…”

Her sobbing was heard over the phone as she stuttered, “I-I… I really have no other option…”

“Listen to me; don’t be anxious. I’ll go get you some abortion medicine. Steady yourself and don’t do anything way out of line on your end. Be more obedient over the next few days. Very soon, I’ll get people to send you the medicine.”

The elderly woman’s eyes were dark as she stood in the greenhouse. She reached out to a blooming butterfly orchid in a pot next her and plucked it before smashing its petals. “It’s impossible!”

After hanging up, Qu Jingwan’s heart eased a little.

From the second floor, she could see Madam Ji putting so much effort in assisting Pei Ge. She curled the corners of her lips. Pregnant? I won’t let you succeed in conceiving.

It was slightly later than 1 AM when Old Lady Qu got someone to deliver the abortion medicine.

She slept fitfully. The phone’s vibration sounded exceptionally ear-piercing in the big room, and she was awoken by it at once, her heart skipping a beat when she saw the unknown number on the screen.

“Hello.”

“Miss Qu, I put the item you want in the rose bushes beside the Ji family’s house’s main entrance. The medicine takes effect very quickly, so you can be at ease. Remember to come take it.”

The person on the other end grinned and then hung up without giving her a chance to ask anything.
