“What if she were to do that?”
He looked up at the woman and gave her a side-eye. “If I were to leave, would you be very happy?”
Her beautiful eyes turned in their sockets as she acted cutesy. “How would I? I would be saddened if you were to leave.”
“I hope what you are saying is the truth.”
Right after he said this, the air stewardess returned with breakfast.
She was a PhD graduate from Princeton. Back then, she worked for the Ji Group after falling in love at first sight with Ji Ziming at one of the company’s press conferences. She had never expected, though, that she would get assigned as a flight stewardess on one of his private jets because of her pretty looks, eloquence, and elegant gait.
However, when she saw Pei Ge, she knew right then that all her fantasies were merely fantasies, yet she was far too into the show to pull herself out.
“Madam, your porridge will require more time. Please wait a bit.”
“That’s alright. I am not in a rush.”
Pei Ge smiled at the flight stewardess, not minding that the latter was openly gazing at Ji Ziming with smitten eyes.
“What are you still standing here for?”
The man’s voice was cold. He gave off a regal and kingly aura which deterred anyone from nearing him. He seemed to be standing atop a tall mountain, far from anyone.
“Yes, sir! I will take my leave now.”
The air stewardess quickly returned to her post after being reprimanded.
“You were fierce with her again,” admonished his woman. “Aren’t you afraid of that lady quitting her job?”
“I’m not. I’m not forcing her to stay. She’s the one who wants to follow me.”
She almost went crazy from his ridiculous calmness. Luckily, she still had breakfast to vent her emotions on.
Soon, the flight stewardess walked back with a bowl of porridge. “Madam, your porridge is ready. Please be careful as it is hot. I will take my leave now if you have no further orders.”
The air stewardess looked at Ji Ziming from the corner of her eyes, only to realize that the man was not looking at her but at the red dates porridge in Pei Ge’s hands.
“Mhm.”
He hummed in a low voice and she left quietly.
The plane reached the sky above the Ji family’s villa lawn. Ten minutes later, Ji Ziming held Pei Ge’s hand while coming down the staircase. The sight that greeted their eyes was boundless greenery. Standing at one side were the male housekeepers in black and at opposite were housekeepers in black-and-white puffy dresses.
When their whole family stepped down the plane, the housekeepers all said in unison, “Welcome home, masters, madams!”
“Alright, alright. Go back to your work; we don’t need you guys here.”
Madam Ji smiled at the servants. She had not been here for a long time. The familiar environment made her mood soar as she turned to look at the couple. “It’s been a long flight, so I’ll go ahead and take a rest. You guys can go handle your business.”
“Granny, can I also come rest with you?”
Although Ran Ran heard her eldest brother’s explanation yesterday, she still did not want to forgive her father this quickly. Right now, it was best for her to be with her grandmother.
“Sure. Come with granny. Shall I have you stay in the most beautiful princess room?”
The older woman waved her granddaughter over.
“Really? Is there really a princess room? Then, aren’t I the little princess?”
The girl’s beautiful eyes lit up. One princess room was enough to attract her attention.
“You are our little princess.”
Madam Ji looked at her affectionately before raising her head to look at them. “My granddaughter will follow me, then. Son, you can stay here or at Pei Ge’s. I can’t care less and don’t want to care; do as you please.”
“Okay, mom. Then, I will leave this girl to you.”
“Rest assured; I will take good care of Pei Ge and the two children.”
“I know.”
His mother turned around and walked into the manor with his daughter after the man finished speaking.
“Let’s go, back to your house.”
His lips curled up as he watched the woman’s eyes sparkle with an unnoticeable surprise.
“Alright, boys! Shall mommy bring you to visit your other grandma?”
Pei Ge squatted before the two lads and pulled their clothes straight. The two nodded their heads as the oldest said, “Mommy, we forgot to bring a present for grandma.”
“It’s fine. Your grandma doesn’t need any,” she assured.
“That won’t do. She always brings us presents, but we didn’t bring any for her this time. Mommy, daddy, let’s go buy a present for her first. Second brother, what do you think?”
The boy turned around and tugged on his younger brother’s arm questioningly.
“Buy a present for grandma.”
The couple looked at each other upon hearing this and then smiled. “Okay. Let’s go choose a present for your grandma. Then, can mommy give you both a mission?”
“Okay!”
The two nodded and looked at her eagerly.
“Help your sister choose a present, too. Although she won’t be coming with us to visit your grandma today, she still misses her very much.”
“Then, why did little sister still leave with granny? Doesn’t she want to visit grandma? Grandma is so nice.”
An An could not understand why his sister was this stubborn.
“Your sister will go visit her tomorrow, so you two must help her choose a present today, alright?”
Pei Ge smiled at them. She watched her two sons look at each other first before nodding. “Okay.”
The family of four got in a black Rolls-Royce and stopped before Zhang Manhua’s house.
“Grandma, grandma! We’ve come to visit you!”
Ji Chi and his brother carried their presents into the house as though they were competing. Zhang Manhua, who was wiping the table, was startled by their arrival. “Aiyo! My precious grandchildren; why are you here this fast? I haven’t even bought the ingredients to cook food for you yet.”
“Grandma, I miss you so much.”
The older boy hugged her silently, refusing to let go.
“Mom, I’m back.” Pei Ge said softly while carrying bags inside. Watching the trio’s affectionate display, she could not help but laugh. “Your grandma will run out of breath if you guys keep hugging her so tightly.”
“You are lying, mommy! Second brother and I aren’t even using a lot of strength.”
The older boy refused to let go. When he saw his brother hugging his grandma, too, he became more reluctant to let go.
“Mom, I’m also back.”
Ji Ziming walked in with two huge shopping bags. At the department store just then, he was just short of taking everything on the shelf.
“You’re here, too. Come and sit down. You even bought so much stuff. I will cook for you guys later. Just sit for a bit to rest; I’ll be quick.”
