Chapter 1617 - Is there another meaning to it?

“You are indeed intelligent and, as everyone says, a dragon among men in the capital. I’ve finally met this dragon today and even saw his wife.”

Qu Xiujie chuckled suddenly as he placed his hands in his pockets. “As for how I got this number, I’d tell you about it once you find out everything.”

Something more was implied than what he said. It was clear that he did not wish to reveal anything else, so Ji Ziming did not say further.

“Sure. Thank you for today, and as a form of reciprocation, I’ll tell you something, too.”

His voice was aloof as he looked at the other’s curious look. “I may not know the person whom you claim to resemble my wife, but I know of someone who looks just like her, too.”

He purposely paused to observe his expression before continuing. “She’s my wife’s mother, who is an equal beauty.”

“Oh?”

There was a sliver of surprise in Qu Xiujie’s eyes. Could that woman be the same person he knew?

“Then, I’ll have to thank you for doing me such a great favor.”

“No, it should be your kindness that helped me obtain this crucial information. It’s very useful to me; I will remember this gratitude.”

Ji Ziming smiled, which made the other think that it was great that this man was Pei Ge’s husband. After all, nobody else in the capital suited her better.

Perhaps Pei Ge had no link to the person in his memory, but he still hoped that this woman, who resembled that person, would lead a good life.

“Mr. Ji is too humble. Since I’ve done what I wanted to do today, I shall take my leave first. I hope you’ll take good care of your wife,” he said politely.

“Of course, she’s my woman and wife, so who else but I who’ll be protecting her.”

Ji Ziming laughed. He hooked his arm around Pei Ge’s waist and spoke in a mesmerizing voice. “You don’t have to worry about this.”

“Sure, then goodbye madam.”

Qu Xiujie laughed.

He then turned to leave the house and got in his Mercedes Benz. He turned to look at the house and saw the woman inside who thoroughly resembled that one in his memory.

Pei Ge’s mother might be…

After he left, Ji Ziming pinched the woman’s waist.

“Aiya!” exclaimed Pei Ge out of pain, glaring at the man. “What are you doing?”

“What am I doing? We’re husband and wife; haven’t you heard that guy asking me to take good care of you?”

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the woman hazily.

“You’re being ridiculous; let go of me quickly.”

She dipped her head and tried to break free from his hold, but no matter how hard she tried to pry off his fingers, she could not. The look of embarrassment was evident on her face.

“Ziming, let go of me first, alright?”

She knew that acting cute to him was the most effective method, so she turned and said, “Is it alright? What if the children see us…”

Before she could finish speaking, she was pulled into a hug and kissed by him.

Catching her breath after a while, she pushed him away. “You’re doing this again! Are you really not afraid of the children seeing us?”

“What if they see us? You’re their mommy and I’m their daddy. Isn’t this normal?”

He paid no heed to her words. Deep down, he hoped that the children would see them because, that way, his ownership of her would be known to them.

“You’re so annoying!” she chided him abashedly. “If you do this again, I’ll ignore you.”

“Say it again!”

His eyes darkened, exuding a chilly aura. Seeing that she was leaving his line of sight, he quickly strode forward and carried her.

“It’s too late to say anything now. If there’s anything that you want to say, save it for when we’re in the bedroom.”

After saying that, he carried her upstairs.

She tried to break free from being trapped in his embrace but could not. Her arms went around his neck tightly as she said in a sweet voice, “Ziming, promise me that, no matter what happens in the future, you won’t abandon me. I am your wife and want to face all challenges with you.”

She said in a serious manner, yet it sounded different in his ears.

“I know; for instance, if I go to the washroom, you can come with me, too. If not, this will mean that we aren’t confronting it together.”

His aloof expression made it difficult to come up with another reason.

“You… I don’t mean it that way.”

She blushed. Her embarrassed look caused his smile to widen.

“Don’t you mean it this way, or is there another meaning to it?”

He deliberately misinterpreted it.

“Hmph!”

She snorted and decided to ignore this man. Before learning all the truth, she would not forgive him.

However, when he threw her onto the soft bed, she changed her mind.

He tugged his tie as a mesmerizing force of attraction covered his face. He narrowed his eyes at the woman who was in bed as his thin lips curled into a smile.

“I didn’t manage to eat you last night.”

He would settle old scores with her now.

“What has it got to do with me?!”

Looking at this man, she knew that it would be yet another storm, and she probably would not be able to leave the house over the next few days.

Indeed, he removed a set of clothes that she had never seen before from the cabinet. They were alluring and bold, totally unlike her style.

“Put these on!”

He spoke in a demanding tone.

“I’m not wearing those!”

How embarrassing. She would not wear such in front of him; furthermore, they were in a style he chose, tight-fitting and see-through.

“Oh?”

His eyes darkened but, upon seeing the woman in bed becoming anxious, became pleased.

How could a man like him not mind the way Qu Xiujie looked at her? However, since it was Pei Ge and he knew what she was thinking too, he would control himself in front of others.
